Just purchased a very gently used 2010 Moomba Gravity Games XLV today and can't wait for summer!!

I'll be reading these forums through the winter and spring to get to know all of the in's and out's of the Moomba line as I am coming from a Chaparral deck boat, but I'll start with a few questions.

1. Is this the most active Moomba forum? Are there other places I should be reading as well?
2. Any tips/books/youtube people I should subscribe to, so that I can begin to read/watch and learn about the many nuances of driving a tow boat and giving my riders the best experience possible?
3. Has anyone taken the carpet out and actually put seadeck in? I've found the carpet replacement and hydroturf posts, but my wife is leaning towards seadeck, because she feels it will stand up to and be easier to clean with our black lab better.
4. Any tips, hints, general info anyone wants to provide to a 20 year stern drive guy moving to an inboard?

I'm very excited about the purchase as is our daughter who has been bumming wakeboard/tubing and surf rides off of other boats for the past couple of years, can't wait for May!

Beautiful boat. Welcome aboard!
1. This is by far the best place on the net to get assistance on anything with your boat.
2. Practice driving, launching, etc. on a slow day so you are a pro on busy days.
3. Do a search for hydro turf, gator grip, miner's moss, sea dek, etc. Many of us have replaced our carpeting. I used hydroturf.
4. Check out all the HOW TO's and service tips, etc. in this forum. Great help there.

Practice driving the boat in reverse as steering is non-existent. The prop is under the boat so there is no easy way to remove a rope tangled in the prop except to go under the boat so hone up on your snorkeling skills and carry a mask and a knife.

great looking boat, I love the white! Like Kaneboats said, this forum is the best by far. Just take your time and do a lot of searching and reading of old posts on any topic that you want to know more about and then if you have any particular question just ask a way, there are a lot of great people with a ton of knowledge that are happy to help out. And yes, practice getting the boat on and off the trailer as others have said because steering in reverse doesn't work and even at idol in forward is tough. Enjoy.

This is not my boat, but I saved the pictures to show my wife to try to get her on board to let me do Gatorstep in our boat.

This is Seadek in a Mojo. I believe the owner is "Gettin It" or something like that.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170207/44bc394395765bf57b43f7ef13617620.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170207/6aff8ba68dca429815319f1bc6819e33.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170207/38e0ae5fc32a63ba2c3c7686be9fb3f1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170207/b007fdf15e33e7782f37d2307f0c66a4.jpg

Congrats on the new boat hamstring! It's a whole new world coming from a stern drive and you will feel you have less control. No thrust means no steering so take it very slow and easy around docks and trailering. Reverse will pull to the starboard side so watch where you dip the boat and where it will end up when going in reverse. You are going to have a blast with this boat and continue the memories for years to come. Nice looking XLV by the way, where do you boat at?

There is a great thread here where we were all kind of learning about the flooring options and sharing tips. My pics are in post #100 on page 10 but there are a bunch of other guys' and ideas for you as well as sources for products and samples, etc.

There is also a Supra Boat forum, but most of the active and newer boat owners are over here.

If you did not know, both boats are made by Skiers Choice (company) in the same plant, Knoxville TN area.

There are a handful of us with XLV's like yours. feel free to ask model specific questions and you'll have a lot of input.

I replaced my carpet with hydroturf. I didn't feel like spending the extra money on sea-deck. I have a friend that has it on his MB. it's nice. but there's a lot more involved in doing the template. Most of us that did the hydro did it because we could DIY and it was way more cost effective. Also look up Gator Step as a competitor to Sea Deck.

By all means this forum is the go-to spot for info on Moombas. There are other boat specific forums and a forum that's generalized to all wake boats, but really if you can't find the info here, I'd be surprised. Plus we're nicer (usually). LOL. we're a very strong community.

Use the fact that the boat will always pull to starboard in reverse to your advantage. you can basically parallel park the boat if you dock on the starboard side. I really avoid docking on the port side. period.

Again, as you try things out, ask questions here and we'll be happy to chime in.

Welcome to the forum! This is the place to be so you have a good start. If you get into surfing, and you should at least check it out, there are a lot of us who have done a lot of modifications and know how to improve greatly on what you have. The good thing is most of the pain has been worked through and the mods are cheap other than adding ballast if needed. When you are ready to dive into that take a look here https://forum.moomba.com/showthread.php?27467-Anyone-seen-or-tried-Ronix-Wakesurf-Shaper-on-Moomba-boats
There is a whole section dedicated to surfing you can find on the main page.
Enjoy.

We boat up on Centerhill lake in Smithville, Tn out of Sligo marina. Have a VERY small cabin up there that is 5 minutes from the dock. Cuts down on the drive time back to the house an hour away and allows us to maximize the weekend fun and get away from my high stress IT job. Where are you?

Hey Hamstring, I'm new to forum and Moomba/inboard ownership as well as I just traded in the deck-boat last fall. I'm on Tims Ford with a Mojo, but have boated a small amount on Center Hill as well. Let me know if we ever need to get together for advice or Mx or get a group of owners in mid-TN together. I'm out of M'boro.
