The 2017 Texas Moomba/Supra Jam dates are set for Aug 4-6 2017 at Bethy Creek Resort in Riverside, TX so hitch up the boat, gas up the truck and head on down! They have rooms blocked off for us so be sure to mention you are booking for the Jam when you call to make your reservation.

Bethy Creek Resort
136 Shorewood Dr, Riverside, TX 77367
(800) 537-6251

For those of you who do not know what this is, every year we hold a owners reunion for Texas (and surrounding areas) Moomba and Supra Owners. Everyone brings their boats and hangs out and plays on the water for a weekend. We host a big dinner and raffle on Saturday night to raise money for Wake the World and its an overall great time. This will be 7th annual event and you can look back through the forums and find pictures of past events or visit our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/MoombaSupraJam/

Got some awesome news! The Trinity River Authority approved the dredging project for the cut! The plan is to dredge the "Rail Cut" (the long one) 6 ft deep by 3 ft wide for 1500 ft, basically from the entrance of Bethy Creek to the entrance of the River. This will allow passage even if water levels drop a couple feet getting late into those summer months. Now the fundraising begins. I offered to have the Jam help raise funds for this but was told they plan to have it completed before then so that is GREAT news for us!

That is fantastic! I get awfully nervous when my depth gauge is showing a foot (or less once or twice through there)!

We are just over a week out and I know I am pumped and ready to go!

We will be arriving at Bethy Creek Thursday afternoon to start setting stuff up and will be headed to El Rancho Viejo for dinner in Trinity Thursday night so if you plan on showing up Thursday feel free to join us for some Mexican food and margaritas! Rinkers boat world will also be providing a guide (either a boat or waverunner) to lead first timers through the cut into the river.

They have 4 wooden pylons on both sides of the ramp so have to get centered pretty good to not hit them then on the right side of the ramp (side closest to the swim beach) if you go too far in it drops off a bit. I always go just far enough for the fenders to be about 1" or so under water and I've never had an issue. You can watch your guide poles in the mirror as well and if one starts to go down fast then stop.

Now I did eff up my old Doomswell Nubstep by it hitting one of those pylons in the rack so make sure you swivel your racks in while loading and unloading.

You shouldn't have a problem since you have a newer boat. My old 06 woth the crappy boatmate under it has to be backed so far down in the water it dropped off and there's something down there that grabbed my fender. I've basically got to put my bumper in the water to get my nose over the roller. I still haven't gotten around to my trailer mods yet.

I do wish they would just pony and redo the boat ramp to make it two full lanes with no drop off

Back in high school when I had my Malibu (don't hate) I hit many a tire, but the weirdest one was a washing machine. It was floating just below the surface, it was 6pm, driving into the sun. Didn't see it til it went under the nose, wtf?!? Lol

On a separate note, who all is gonna have an A-Link out there on Sunday. I'm picking up my new 410 and amp tomorrow, thinking about grabbing one

And if anyone would like to come up to Conroe and help me pull new wire through the tower, I'll provide the beer. Lol

I'm off to go find a new sub box and buy some new 4 gauge. I burned up a lot of my supplies on my buddy Justin's boat. I'm tired of the subs being in the dog house. I really want to move then under the wheel. I'm having a hard time finding a box that will fit.

I borrowed a box from a buddy who does installs with me. It doesn't fit. Fml. 1.5" too wide or tall depending on which way it sits.
I may just have to build one. But it's gonna be tricky hitting 1.3cu sealed for 2 10W6v3 and not have the box blow apart.

Use wood glue and screws with 1" thick MDF and you should be ok I would think you can also have corner bracing as well

Broke Pilot
07-30-2017, 02:28 PM
Well, I found a box. Best Buy of all places. Dual 10" sealed, but the airspace is way too much for W6's. They had some crazy excursion but no sound output. I tried to take up some internal space with 2x4 slices, but that got sketchy quick. Plus the W6's just really seem to like a ported box, so I'm back to the original box but I wedged it under the helm while I had the driver seat out fixing the carriage bolts underneath. It's not permanent, feel free to point and laugh at the Jam. Lol
If anyone needs some subs and boxes, all this stuff is going up for sale as soon as this post is done. I'm gonna go a different route.

Any update on the cut being dredged? I was up there last weekend and I saw no signs of it getting started

Here's my contribution once we got rolling on the water. We weren't on the river for 10 minutes before we got waved down by a Jon boat to rescue. I can't find that picture though. Tossed him a couple beers and cranked the music, put the girls on the back deck and I'm sure he was loving life! Lol

That last one is what's left of my trailer step pad... that stupid boat ramp at Bethy got me again. Trailer slid and shifted under the boat as we were pulling it outta the water and the guide poll came up under the port side back corner. $2k in fiberglass work, again...
I like how they built a brand new air conditioned building but can't put any money into their boat ramp...

I was curious as to what happened over there. I know Bethy's ramp isn't the best by any means and we encourage people to only go as deep as needed. We basically go until water covers the fenders. I helped a new guy launch/load his SE there without issue.

Sorry for you bad luck, I hope we can find a solution for this.

With my generation Supra, you have to go deep. Otherwise you can't get that droopy nose over the roller. That deep V hull won't allow the bunks to be far enough back to lift the nose up and over like most boats.
Boat mate even has a post somewhere on the internet apologizing for the horribly made and fitting trailers under the 05-07 boats. They even have instructions on how to 'fix' it. FYI... it doesn't work lol
I already told David, this is the last year of the jam for me unless Bethy fixes the ramp, or yall move the jam somewhere else. I'm sure there are a lot of places in SE Texas that would love to have the business. Maybe we should spread the love around a little and expose people to new lakes/rivers. I'm not opposed to traveling...

But hey, on a happier note... we had a blast! Right up to the last 30 minutes! Lol
My buddy Justin's boat wouldn't crank after the tie up, (thanks to whoever was on the wave runner that pulled him to the trailer). It'd turn over, just no fire... He's joining the Supra forum and here when he gets back from his trip. I have some great surf videos just can't figure out how to post them with Imgur. My boat threw an amazing roller Saturday withOUT the suckgate. I couldn't believe it!

I'm glad you guys had a blast (minus the boat issues). You guys were jamming at the tie up, thats for sure!

Yea. Right up until my a link quit. I'm gonna need you or David to come give me some ground school on how to work that thing. I'm seeing quality may be an issue with them from asking around...?

David, what is your criteria for better? What are you looking for in a location that the trinity has and others don't?

Also, were there any shirts left over by chance?

Yep, had the same issue with the droopy nose and boatmate trailer. Luckily one of the guys from Rinkers was watching and jumped in to assist. I had to back in deep to get the boat most of the way on and the strap hooked, then pull up enough for the stern to go down, gas the boat while cranking until the nose was just on the block, then back in again to get winched far enough to lock. It was great having the Rinkers guys around, they jumped in to assist us several times. And David was right, it's crazy I've been in Livingston for so many years without going to Bethy!

The only problem I had at the jam is now it's time to BOAT. All the awesome boats made me realize how much I hate my low bimini so I'm shopping for an over tower bimini with board storage, I'm too old to always be bent over haha.

Sorry to hear that ramp bit you again, that's a bummer for sure. Was this on the side of the ramp with the wooden guide posts?

Your trailer situation blows, no doubt. We took our 06 24 down for 5 years and I dreaded the ramp every year, but came away unscathed.

I can answer both of your questions, to move locations we are looking for:

1. Somewhere that can handle 40+ wakeboats all trying to use the same water in addition to normal boat traffic and still be great conditions
2. Somewhere with a "convenient" tie up location like Bethy offers, not in a major traffic area so the water remains calm and 40+ boats aren't banging back and forth
3. On water lodging similar to what Bethy offers
4. Use of a large pavilion for the raffle/dinner
5. Parking area that can handle a large amount of boats in addition to normal weekend traffic
6. Location..this one is tough. We drive 4 hours for the jam, much further and I think attendance would suffer, especially if water conditions cant match the dirty T

We have discussed this on the board the past 2 years and have not found somewhere that checks all the boxes. It was even mentioned this year when we all got there Thursday. Believe me, it is on the table if we can lock something down.

On the shirts, we had 2 XL left, I posted them in our group page yesterday and they were claimed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1953830211561796/?fref=nf

If you plan to use the same ramp, use the raffle money for the repair with a permanent plaque of all the contributors.

I talked with the venue and they said they would look into the ramp. Not sure if anything will actually get done but I at least expressed our concerns.
