View Full Version : Reasonably Priced Wake Gate?

Was thinking of getting an after market gate like Ronix's setup, until I saw the prices. Read through the forum and started leaning towards building one. Then came across this on Facebook (link below). For just $125 it seems like an OK price and solid setup. Has anyone tried this brand's shaper before? Any other brand suggestions?

I built one very similar to that for about $30. The suction device in that particular design you posted the link for is $8 from m harbor freight.

This one looks to be all stainless components and a nicer made.

If you have any diy skills with a saw and drill. You can build one for under 40 in 1/2 to 1 hr . My vote is build one , but time is money

$129 is the lowest price I've seen. One of the orig companies was appx $400. Most of the DIYers are building and selling for around $200. They pop-up all over the wake forums.

For everyone marketing these with before/after pics trying to sell a suck-gate, the pics are a joke.

You are comparing a boat with 2 lockers full without a suck-gate VS a boat with 2 lockers full and with a suck-gate
NOBODY runs that setup with 2 lockers full without a suck-gate on an older boat.
Apple and Orange

Why not compare a boat with 1 locker full VS a boat with 2 lockers full and a suck-gate?

They work, I'm not doubting that. I built one and run one.

Depends on the boat and the suction cups. Some of the handles work better than others and some hulls are too curved to stick well. It seems that most hulls will work though. May want to try new suction cups. I used the Cosmos version from Amazon.
