My head unit finally bit the dust this weekend after intermittent issues all summer long (was down to only the USB function of the head unit working). Looking online shows me that this unit has been discontinued by Sony. Is there a compatible head unit that works with my wired remotes or do i need to replace both of those as well. If going with a full replacement what type of options do you guys recommend? Thanks.

Not that I have found. , you will need one new remote the transom Sony should still work

What remotes do you have? last i checked, Sony was down to only one active model that supported the LCD remotes and two that only support the non-LCD.

i have one LCD remote (RMX60M/L) at the driver seat and the non LCD (RM-X11M) as the transom

The Rmx60m/l is only designed to work with these older receivers.

CDXM60UI , CDXH910UI , and DSXMS60.

The 11 should work with most new ones .

If i buy one of the newer sony head units, is it as simple as buying the new LCD readout remote with it and plugging it in where the existing one is now? Hoping that the non LCD transom remote is still compatible?

Sorry, no. Sony also retired the LCD remote, thats part of why non of the new head unit do not support the LCD remotes. If the unit supports the RMX11M, the functions of the RMX60 will work, but you loose the displace as the head unit has no port to power it up.
