Just the 360. I haven't had enough time.

Best advice I can give is keeping the board flat and wide stance makes spins easier. Try moving your feet towards the middle of the board. When I'm carving I have my toes near the edge of the board which makes it easier to make an edge and carve, but when trying to 360/180 it causes me to catch an edge.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at that video last month. It is a really nice view. Everyone else records from down low and you can't really see what is going on. Here you can see everything that is happening. I sent this to my brother-in-law last month and told him to try it this way. We are having a competition to see who can do the 3 first. So far he is ahead and I need to get back on it. He hasn't done it yet but he is really close thanks in part to your video. He is using the Hammerhead also. Great board.

I got the lip slide down and a couple of other things. I didn't know I had the lip slide until someone recorded it. I thought I was only turning the board about 45* but I was getting almost the full 90*. I really need to get my Go Pro on the boat.

Keeping in the wave is where most of us have the issue it looks like.

So close, you just needed to pump and/or a few hand paddles to get back into the pocket.

I record and review every set, it really helps. :)

I am going to have to try moving my toes in from the edge more to the center of the board. I have only ridden one out in hundreds of tries. Since I started getting a wider stance and lower to the board I am getting around almost every time. But, sometimes I catch an edge. I'll have to practice riding off the edge and then try a few and see where it goes. Unfortunately we are taking a few days off cuz several of my crew have ear infections after a week straight on the water.

I'm working on losing 20lbs but having about as much luck at that as spinning a 360 :)

Been trying to get shove its down. Last week on my heel side I landed hard on board with elbow and still pretty sore and of course sketchy to do it until it heals. I never skateboarded so I lack the knowledge on flipping board properly lol

I've been working on shuvits for weeks and have bruises all over my body. Caught the side of my leg the other day and couldn't walk for a few days. I setup a small training area in my back yard just to work on them..

I am going to try and make my own homemade indoboard for that very purpose. People that learn on those swear it makes the surf shuv-its way easier

Yeah it's a mother trucker when you come down on board. Been iffy since to try it. So I just been trying to perfect my 720s and watching a lot of Austin Keen videos.

I've been trying to do a 360 since last March. It really pisses me off. I can't seem to pump back into the wave. By the time I'm back around I'm in the white wash. I'm also super fat so that doesn't help lol

Try starting a little further back on the wave and build speed towards the boat. You're throwing the spin in the wrong direction and that's why you're losing the wave. Throw your body mass towards the boat instead of towards the lip of the wave. Spin in the bottom of the transition instead of the top of the wave. By the time you're done the spin you will be in position to pump the wave a bit if need be. Hope that helps!

What do you mean by throwing your weight at the boat? I don't know where I am throwing mine.

My brother in law said he thought I was amazing until he watched an Austin video lol, even tagged me on Facebook saying that.

I've been trying to get a 360 shuvit all year, get my 180 shuvs about 75% of the time. Can't get the board to spin enough for the 360, need to get out of the water more. Also struggle with my second 180 shuv to turn the board back around, only get those like 10% lol.

If you're struggling with a shuv I suggest start to spin your body and board frontside into the wake a little before you try to pop it around, not quite 45 degrees. That seems to help me.

Just watch where he ends up at the end of his spin. He is behind the lip of the wave. What I mean is, he is throwing his spin and body mass diagonally across the wave. The direction of his momentum needs to be towards the boat.

Ooooh boy! That is slick! Awesome riding! I was on the fence between the diamond and hammerhead for next year, but I think that video just put the hammer in the lead.

I just winterized the craz today, better post some more videos to get me through the week.

Wow..Had a great time with wakesurf NC, great guy, really loves the sport. He and his crew were getting ready for the worlds wakesurf championship. I picked up so much just being able up watch them. Pretty much switched up my entire riding style..

Ended up switching to a new phase 5 2017 Matrix and a wave fin. This board rocks...

The hammerhead is a little easier, it's a slower board so you can learn to ride revert. Of course the more you ride revert the easier it gets. I spent a lot of riding revert heal side/goofy at the school, now that's a crazy ride. You'll be happy with the hammerhead, I would demo them both if possible. I moved to a smaller wave 1.5 fin that really loosened both boards up.

Nope, but this is the lightest and thinest phase 5 I've seen.

When I was at a p5 demo a couple weeks ago the salesman told me the only difference was construction. But it looks to me that the last 6" of tail are slightly different too.

There are way too many boards creeping towards and over the 1k mark now, it's scary. When I got into this sport 600 bucks seemed like a ton and would get almost anything and now that's a middle ground to spend.

This off-season, I'm buying either a Diamond or a Hammerhead. I've narrowed it down to those two. parrothd or others that own them, is there that much of a difference between the two? What would push you to one or the other? I want to do surface spins, reverts, and airs. I value the opinions on this board and your recommendation is likely what will push me to one or the other. Demo-ing is likely not an option for me as there is no one within reasonable distance that does that or carries Phase 5. I can't imagine there is a huge difference between the two, but any nuances?

parrothd

I've never rode the Diamond, only the Hammerhead and Matrix. You should be able to do all that stuff with any of phase 5 board.

My preference is the Matrix. The matrix is a lot lighter, you notice the difference when picking it up. This makes it feel light and super fast. Also it's thinner, for me this gives it the edge, makes it easier to make an edge which adds to the quickness. Also makes it less forgiving... :)

The hammerhead is more forgiving, the square nose makes it harder to pearl and it rides revert easily. It's thicker which gives it a little more control and float a little more on top of the water.I would search around and see if you can find a demo of each, or take a class, everyone is going to have a different style/taste.

One thing you do need is a wave fin, 1.2 inch, Jay/Wakesurf NC convinced me to switch anything larger is just training wheels..

Yeah, I always hear good things about both of them. There's a good review for both boards back to back. Tough to decide without riding. Maybe I'll do like my wife in football and pick the one with the best colors for 2017.
