These were actually taken in July, but I have been to busy to share.

Pat and Stacy, <kaneboats, moombadaze> rented a really nice little house on Lake Martin in Alabama and invited me up.

I drove up on the 27th and stayed the night leaving late in the day on the 28th to avoid Atlanta traffic. I made it through ATL in about 30 minutes, thats pretty good in my book lol.

Anyhow I only took a couple pictures while there. It was a great place indeed. We had dinner at the house the first night, I watched the kids play the Game of Lift every chance they had when not in the water LOL. On Thursday we hit a place up call the Dock I think? Great drinks and pizza.

Cruised around the lake seeing all the big money houses.

Pats second oldest daughter working her 360s,

Looks like a great time and place! I would kill to have a lake place and a dock setup like that. 🍻

Helped the pooch cross an item off her bucket list this weekend. She went for 3 runs and couldn't get enough. Put her back in the boat and asked her if she wanted to go again. She jumped right in and swam to the board. Was windy and the wave was sloppy, but we got it done.24768

We had a great week on Lake Martin in AL. 4th year in a row.

Packed up and ready to head out:
https://forum.moomba.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24771&d=1470230175

Launched at a ramp only about a mile from the house we rented-- in a nice quiet cove too. This was a Sat. and nobody around.
https://forum.moomba.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24772&d=1470230239

Youngest daughter learned to ski -- popped up and rode for 10 min. and dropped the rope when she was done.
https://forum.moomba.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24773&d=1470230427

Youngest son (10) really improved his surfing all week.

Yea, we left the IS one and the Broadcast at the dock all week. There is the skim board from ebay I made into a wakesurf board that T is riding in the pic; a Lakewakes mid size custom my sons ride; a Victoria skim Bri Chmel model my daughters ride; my old Triple X skim and a Danielo Diamond.

That storm I mention at the start of the thread, well it snapped one of the dock lines on a cove neighbors dock, caused it to hit the other dock and move it. They got it all fixed last night and glad to hear no damage was done.

These docks should be straight off the shore line.

Got the tow rig back from Ford Sunday night (it was actually done Monday but we were at a BMW event where we rent a private road for the weekend and carve up the twisties). Lots of fun BMW's to rally with (I'm chasing an E46 M3 and an I-8 in this pic)

Got back out on the boat last night. It was ROUGH AS HELL going out from the launch to our ride spot. The wind was shooting straight down the river. We got pounded. But after our rough motor out, we found a spot with decent water and had a blast getting our surf on.

earlier this year, I tore my mid-foot ligament. I'm mostly healed. When the doc cleared me to return to sports, he said that having foot support (like a supportive shoe) was the best thing to help my foot not get re-injured. I bought a pair of wake skate shoes and that's what I'm wearing on my bad foot. The foot definitely gets sore after surfing, so I figure it's best to keep the shoe on there.

That's what I was thinking it was. That's awesome you are still getting after it, I would have done the same. Hoping we have an Indian summer since we got such a late start this year and weather has been so hot and cold.

gray and cloudy day in PDX. took a few people out, had fun riding even though it wasn't as smooth as we had hoped for. Ended the day by towing a buddy from his moorage to the boat launch. His bilge pumps crapped out AGAIN and he had too much water in his bilge to risk driving at speed (and killing his alternators again).

Note to self, the rock climbing rope that I use for an anchor line works damn well as a tow rope when dragging another boat behind you.

So, we use the exile buoy balls, but I don't like inflating and deflating them every time. when we need them and we're surfing, I'll take them and attach them to the top of my tower to keep them out of the way, but still inflated. (I have nylon webbing straps with sidebuckle clips that I use to attach them to my cleats and stuff when I'm docking.)

Well, we forgot to take them down and drove 30 minutes home at freeway speeds. The balls were bouncing against each other and my wife and I were cracking up that our Buoy balls were "motorboating" on top of our motorboat. My wife called them "Boobie Balls". (o) (o) hahahahaha

http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/IMG_20160807_124301_zpscghxfuqb.jpg

On a side note, there's a thread over in the classifieds section where we started talking about Exile Buoy Balls. Brian chimed in and then told me that he wanted to show the Moomba crew some love and offered us up $5 off (25% discount) on buoy balls through this weekend. PM me for the discount code if you'd like it.

I was going to say they look like Mickey Mouse Ears on top pf your tower. I like Cindy's name for them better.

Why don't you just stick them in the V drive lockers? Thats where I keep mine when they are inflated, I also keep them in the walkway to the bow but I know you don't have that option.

Don't you realize bro... I've got BIG BALLS! You can't just fit those big balls anywhere! LOLOL

If we're surfing, those lockers are FILLED with ballast!!!!!!!!!

When we went out on Sunday, we started with 3 boards in the Port locker, and 3 boards in the playpen locker. The Starboard locker tends to be the one where all the "gear" goes. In there, we had a duffle bag of various wetsuit gear, about 5 different sizes of neoprene life jackets for people to ride with. My Slalom ski. the throw cushion flotation device, my ski rope, the "suck gate", ski and wakeboard ropes... basically all our misc 'gear'.

When it's time to surf, all the boards get put up on the tower, and of course the port locker is full to the brim. The starboard locker gets filled to the point where it can still hold the ski, life vests, wetsuit stuff; but the door can still close. so typically starboard side is about 1/2 full. So when running surf ballast, the buoy balls don't have a locker to live in. that's why I put them up on the tower--out of the way and not taking up any space.

I could throw them up in the bow, but I'd prefer them to not be rolling around on my vinyl. and they wouldn't be secured. and they'd be taking up seating if someone wanted to go up there.

The tower's a great place to put 'em. I just forgot to take them down when we put all the boards and stuff away. When the ballast is drained, I can fit them in the lockers with the gear and boards.

Well, we forgot to take them down and drove 30 minutes home at freeway speeds.

Honestly, because we forgot. We put all the boards away after dropping my buddy at the Riverplace Marina. Then when we got back to Willamette Park, the boards were stowed, and I simply just didn't look UP and see that the balls were still on the tower. We didn't notice them until we were driving on I-5. So I just let my balls flap in the wind...

I might have the try that setup. I had a prototype of a gopro rope mount, but I never got it dialed very well. Looks like for the gopro handle mount, it'd be easy enough to add a section of pipe or tube to the end of the rope and then use a gopro handle bar mount.

Gqjeff

He actually used the mount the GoPro comes on and then used 2 zip ties to secure it.

They used clear ceramic coating. He described it as wax on steroids and uses the same thing on the cars he does. I had the hull and topside buffed and then coated. Some minor paint correction too. Then the interior was detailed. All the vinyl was cleaned and treated as well. $1400 for all.

What a wonderful weekend and another trip to Lake Powell in the books. Besides my white one I got a lot of people that came up to talk about the boat. Even went through a BUI check point and the officers love the boat. They did ask about any exterior lights being blue and long story short their a magnet for the water cops to come and safety check you. Even the underwater lights underway they will stop you since law is only NAV and anchor light and gives them a reason to safety check you. Still posting here, passed with flying colors since pulling the craz up and tying off myself while having 9 people in the boat. Water cop says "WOW, that was impressive!"

Saturday evening did not disappoint. We cruised a couple miles north of on on Lanier, found a huge section closed off by multiple coves and nothing but glassy water.

Did some swimming, let Oso fetch and then surfed our way home.

Id like to say we shut the lake down as we got home at 915 and it was completely dark but there were lots of boats still cruising in the dark lol.
I will say next time I will head home a little earlier as I took a right when I should have went left and ended up using Google Maps to find my way through all the fingers home lol.
Might be a good choice to only go exploring on a full tank, we left with what read as a 1/2 and were on empty as we got home.

Still an epic first late night on Lanier.

Not a good August here. This is what 9" of rain in two days does to our lake. It went up almost three feet and is still rising. What makes things worse is that the only outlet is partially blocked because of bridge work. No boating for a little while.

Crap! Would have been a good shot with the boat off the trailer when I picked it up. I've tried with the boat on but can't get any decent shots.

Um, easy enough. the boat is off the trailer every time you launch it, LOL. But it does look like they are more like a staggered "runway" instead of my strip lights that look almost like solid lines when approaching the trailer at night underwater.

This is on my old boat's trailer, but I did the exact same install on my XLV trailer.

Yes these are individual sealed lights placed every 3' along the rail of the trailer.

This looks like it could be a pretty quick and easy add. These flush mount bolts could be used, the stainless ones are very nice. Instead of threading them in it would be a bit quicker to treat it like a thru hull on a boat...snug fit in the hole and silicone it in!

so you used the led water proof strip lights on yours? Our boat is on a lift all summer so not really needed but I was thinking you could do this for REALLY cheap with the strips..

Later that night we picked up a few more passengers and went out to watch the meteor showers from the water. Decided a surf set was in order so with ballast full, 9 passengers on board, and suck gate in place we went for it. It could have been the whiskey improving my judgement but I swear it was the best wave this old boat has ever put out. Ridiculously long pocket and plenty of height and push. And this is the only pic I could get - lame.

My mother-in-law had some premonition that a barge was bearing down on us and what do you know she was, well close. No more pics since the camera man was panicking but you get the idea how dark it was. Turns out surfing in the shipping channel at night may not be the best idea...

In WI the DNR and Sheriff would be all over our azz if someone was sitting on the swim platform while under power!
I've been pulled over for simply having someone sitting on the rear deck with their feet on the rear seat...was also pulled over for idling away from shore at 1 mph with a wakeboarder sitting on the rear deck with their feet on the swim platform!

Spent the weekend at a lake I'd never taken my boat to (just visited in years past with friends). The lake was an hour and 20 minutes from home. We teamed up with another family; they brought the 5th wheel and provided the food, we brought the boat. Had an RV space with a boat slip about 100 feet away.

Since we got up there pretty quick after work, we were able to get in a quick surf session on Friday evening. I went last and got in a fun night surf. it was still 85 degrees at almost 9pm. Pretty rare for up here.

I've touched my boat once since the Jam... It's been disappointing the weather has sucked down here too, so that doesn't help.
We have been flying like crazy. I took this yesterday leaving Vegas. That's a line of 12 planes behind us waiting to takeoff.

And this is our route into Houston... The controllers here are infuriating. Had a straight shot to the airport, but no, we had to go through the weather. Idiots...

I feel your pain, Taylor, and it sucks! I had a few hours out last Saturday, before the rain, and then once on a friend's boat up at the T prior to that, and then the Jam. I'm hoping the T is able to clear up and be perfect for Fall Bash. Speaking of Fall Bash, are you going?

Had a blast yesterday on the best weather day we've had in over a week

I did good to make sure we had most everything loaded in the boat... Life jackets, boards, food, drinks (for everybody), key, kids. It wasn't until I had the bags full and was about to jump in that I realized I had left the ropes in the garage. 😤

So while I ran back to the house to get them, my wife took these of the girls having a blast

snuck out with just the 3 of us. no one else to accommodate, just a stealth family run.

The wife and son getting some surf in. Water was 72, air was about 85. Wasn't as smooth as we would have liked (with was probably 10 to 15) but we found a little bit of wind shelter in our ride spot, although we had to balance that with water depth as we were knocking on water 10 to 15 feet if I got close enough to shore to really offset the wind.

You power load your boat? I've never done mine, too nervous of hitting prop on trailer, plus it throws rocks at the launches around here and makes a high spot.

Well, I approach my trailer in gear (dunked to an inch or two over the fenders); or alternating bumping gear and neutral. I coast in between the trailer guides and make sure that my keel settles in the center of the bunks, with the tip of the boat a couple feet from the bow roller. Then yes, I put it back in gear and throttle up enough to get the boat to drive most of the way up the bow roller. when I get to a point where there's a bit too much resistance for it to climb the rest of the way up, I lay on the tip of the bow and clip the strap and crank the final 4 to 8" until the loop is snug to the roller.

Never had any real problems.

This weekend we were recruited to bring our boat for a houseboat retreat with the Young Adults group at our Church. It was a pretty cool experience.

Our trip down started a little rough. I'd just passed a really slow car on a dashed straight away, and was met by the tribal police as I was coasting back down to my post passing speed. He didn't see eye to eye with me, but just gave me a warning (70+ in a 55 zone that everyone does 65 to 75 on).
http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/20160826_181726_zpsi3uww6ms.jpg

This was our home for the weekend. The middle "barge" was awesome. it had fold out floating docks, anchors that lowered at the press of a button and a bunch of shade. it was a great central location between the houseboats.

Since I started tying up on the outside of the dock for ease of access during the day.

When inside the dock right now I use the Exile because I have 4 points to tie up.

On the outside I have no protection from waves in the cove, with the boat and dock moving, I wanted more protection then the smaller Exile balls can provide.

Utah waters are starting to slow down with traffic. We got 70 deg. water and mid 80's for air and it was perfect. Hit just 11 hours on the Craz and got a little surf set in.

Nice mountains...

Not sure if the surfing would have been that good, I definitely see some rollers...

But maybe you could find some good conditions if you tried to motorboat in the valley.

So, we had a couple of friends lined up to go play on the water last night, but their daughter broke her wrist and that plan went right out the window. With a couple hours to launch time, I tried a lot of people with no luck. (since we live in Vancouver WA, it's near impossible for people from Portland to fight traffic and make it to our launch by the 5:30 time we wanted to hit the water.

I told the wife that even if we got no one, we'd launch the boat anyway. I knew it was going to be a good day on the water. Wind only 4mph + 85 degree air + 72 degree water is a pretty great combo for us.

I mean, would you waste this kinda water?

around sunset, we headed over to a new restaurant that had waterfront dock access. Got some amazing eats and drinks. Took a couple of fun pics.

The more the merrier, but as long as the water's nice and you're on / in it, I don't hesitate! For days I don't have any real friends to go, I just use my fat friend in the rear seat (450 lb portable sac) and we are good to go.

Best time to really start riding here in UT! One more crazy weekend and it's cold riding the epic. Yesterday was nice but a little chilly in the AM, 60 air and 68 water.

Had to turn in my black and green Craz... BUT picked up a 2015 Supra SC550 leftover. Heading to Lake Powell for the holiday weekend to go break her in, currently sitting at .5 hours.

Oh, okay. that picture made the 8's look HUGE. So that makes more sense now. 8" drivers with 1" separate tweets. In the pic, they looked way bigger.
