So months back when I bought my Mondo I posted here how much I was disappointed about the wave behind the boat how it really was not just a press the button and boom you surf kind of boat. After playing with settings and adding bigger ballast it is slowly starting to shape. So we added 900's in the rear, I right port so that gets 100% fill we fill the center about 50-70% depending on bodies in the boat and the starboard is about 60-75% full. Our surf flow settings are 60-80 for port and 40 for star and trim is up 50-75%. I always heard people say you should be at 8-11 mph at most so as I played with the boat I kept increasing speed due to shape of the wave I wanted a ice crisp rolling lip. So I kept increasing speed before I knew it I was at 12-12.3 mph on the speedo. But it looked good and when riding it felt amazing. Yesterday I clocked the speed with GPS and to my surprise we were going 8-9mph. i was shocked. Also I had previously just bought a hybrid board slingshot butter bar similar to a Hifi and started riding that over my original Big Obrien Nalu. Yesterday I hoped back on the Nalu and crazy difference now the speed of that board everything. So remember the speed may not be true and board make a huge difference for size of the rider. Sorry for the long post but I am slowly becoming happier with the Mondo just need a little more weight back there.

We had the exact same problem with the digital speedo on our '14 LSV. After upgrading to 900's rear, 500 lbs IBS and the manual Flow, we were still really struggling with find the right combo of push and length..... Finally, when we put the boat in the water this year over Memorial Day (it's COLD up in Northern Wisconsin before then!), we checked our speed with a GPS and realized we had a 2+ MPH difference versus our digital display. So while we thought we were going 10.6mph we were actually going 12.6mph and we had virtually no push. I still need to calibrate our digital speedo (that's on my To Do list for today), but we are seeing a totally different wave and this has made all the difference in the world!

So I guess the moral of the story is: Start surfing at what you think is the right speed, then adjust the cruise control until you feel the best push/length combo, regardless of what the digital readout says! That advice would have saved me a few expletives and a lot of frustration last summer :p
