Wondering what kind of water temps everyone is seeing with the heatwave:
Richmond VA Upper James River hit 93F water temp yesterday!
The average depth of the river is 8 to 10ft deep so it heats up fast

80 and 73 in upstate NY lakes, depending on depth of the lake. 200 to 600 ft.

Wow - the water only gets to 74? That is cold!
That's when the wet suits don't need to be worn. 65 to 70 is shorty, below that is full, below 58 is no go for me. Lake is at 6,500 feet.

Yep, low to mid 90s in central AR also.

There is one dam spot where water is pulled from the bottom of the feeding lake ... Lots of boats parked there with water temps in lower 60s.

Actually no, I was presently surprised how nice the water does look here. After being in OR for so long and seeing so many southern lakes look muddy and dirty, I am quite happy with my sand bottom lake.

Well atleast you will get a lot more water time. One thing that makes me wanna live south, or south east is the longer boating years. PNW sucks sometimes only getting a few short months, especially years like this where it's been much cooler, rainy, etc. Pics look great!

Right? We spent a weekend at a different lake and for the first time ever I understood why people want to wipe their boats down when they pull them out of the water. Our water is so clean that we don't wipe it down and we never get any water spots. We still get 6 months of boating season but you have to toughen up a bit.

That is nice looking. 👌 I boat April-October so I put about 100+ hours. Just have to have a good size sack in early spring fall. If I could I would move south, just have to wait tell kids get older. I would love to boat 9 months a year or more and never have to wear full suit in April.

Yea, I agree when I look at some pics the water looks muddy. I just looked at some TX pics.

Visit Norris Lake in TN then talk about that 2-3 month PNW boating season. I can name many more lakes all in driving distance.

I've also lived in ATL and boated into Nov/Dec and then started in again in Apr/May

Up at DeGray this last week the water was 90 and still had 6ft visibility. I'll take our muddy water and march to November season over only getting one or two months where you don't have to wear a dry suit any day.

Our water is a very reasonable 78 degrees up here in the North Woods of Wisconsin..... We've had tons of rain to keep it cooler than normal and the lake levels up, but as we're on a seepage lake I'm loving all the extra lake water this year! Normally by early August, we'd be down about a foot or so, but the water level is almost where we started the summer so we're happy with the extra water for more skiing and surfing :cool:

Our water table in the area bottomed out about ~4 years ago and has been steadily rising since, so the extra water this year is definitely helping the cause
