I'll get July started. Another freeride by my son. I'm stoked he's getting it.

Installed a little boat bling this weekend: A new Krypt flag holder for the ol' Stars & Stripes plus a new starboard observer's seat backrest ..... Both worked great all weekend of loads of skiing and surfing, so much so that I've decided to keep the flag up all summer!

Started the morning seeing this, decided that breakfast on the dock with the wife was the ONLY way to start a full day of skiing and surfing with the whole family (wife & 3 boys, with an angry dog who we left in the house...!)

I've been looking at that holder because I am going to do a pirate theme design on my craz and wanted to out a pirate flag, how do you like the mount? Does it adjust 360 degrees for angle mount to tower or is it limiting? Would you recommend it?

It's a great piece, high quality and looks like an OEM part. It has multiple pins to allow you to mount the bracket on the tower at almost any angle and be able to find a vertical position for the flag. I'm a fan, and my boys are goading me into buying a second one for the other side of the tower. Check out the Krypt Tower store on EBay - this was $44.95 and free shipping

Where did you get or what if you make the flag pole out of?

North Woods Mobius
07-04-2016, 10:50 AM
I bought the Taylor Made Aluminum Boat 3/4 Inch Flag Pole With Charlevoix Clips on Amazon. Then, since the pole diameter was smaller than the flag holder, I used the extra rubber grommet that came with the Krypt flag holder and trimmed the length to use it to wrap around the flag pole to make a perfect fit into the holder. My Oz HD tower is 2 3/8", so Krytp sent me the 2 1/2" clamp size with 2 rubber grommets for a snug fit on the tower. I used the thinner one for the flag holder mount on the tower, and the bigger one to shim the flag pole to slip inside the holder for a snug fit. It's all below the visible top of the holder so it's flush, looking great and rock solid (we both surfed and skied all weekend with it and it never even moved!).

We opted for the 24" flag pole and the smaller, stitched Taylor Made flag (12' x 18") so that it fits on the tower without getting in the way of either the lower Board swivel racks or the upper fixed ski racks, and I don't have to worry about it hitting the boat hoist when we end the day

I'll be installing a pair of the same flag holders today. I was happy to see the set pins.

I am using 3/4" irrigation PVC pipe for my flag poles. It's dark gray in color and bends a little but not much. Just drilled holes and added black zip ties for the flag attachment.

11 days in Lake Powell with family and I will have plenty of pictures to share. Instead of blowing up this thread with all my pictures, hit up my Facebook page for those that are on click DFTR Josh (https://www.facebook.com/DFTRJos). Got 2 newbies up on the surf rather then wake knowing it will be easier on them and I can help them more. What a great idea and you can see from the smiles they LOVED it. Tubing was also a big hit for the kids and I ended up with some pretty good shots using a GoPro.

11 days in the desert and I was ready to come home and get some mountain air. Plus sold the Craz and had to get back for a good detail before the new owner takes it soon. I've got the pleasure to watch and film Chris Trimner (Skim Board) throw down, it was a sight to see.

so what does that mean now, you're boatless? Seems like a bummer to have all that stoke for the new boat only to turn around and have it sold before you hardly get to use it. I assume you didn't have that big of investment in it because you had it contracted for such a limited time before you had to flip it?

I have another Craz already broken in waiting for me when I turn in my White and Black. Got some decent time on it, sitting at 37 hours right now and it's been a hell of a ride. Dealer didn't want me to sale mine quite yet but you can't say no to a willing and paying customer. Lost a sale to an Axis waiting for this family to sale their X2 but all fell in line and converted a MC family to SC, job well done in my book. I have blisters developing since scrubbing the boat for turn in tomorrow. Over a week in Lake Powell sure gets your shiz pretty dirty. Can't wait to see the next one in the water, colors I would usually never go with but ready for a change.

Today was the step daughter's 9th birthday, and she requested to go wakeboarding!
I sure miss birthdays on the water with the family as a kid... Good memories out on Lake Mead.
She brought a bunch of friends and one of their brothers since he's in the same class as my step son.
She wanted to drive out to wakeboard cove...

Well it's official that a new owner will be enjoying his White & Black Craz and I took delivery of my new 2016 Black & Blue Craz. I've never had a dark boat or interior so this will be interesting. One thing I do know is I'm stocked up on Boat Bling cleaning products and ready for the hard water. Anybody in UT can see it in person at Surf Fest this weekend if you're planning to attend. This is a boat where the pictures don't do it justice.

A 5:1 water vinegar breaks up hard water really well. Some guys go stronger mixes but I don't think it's necessary. That is what I spray on all the boat when I pull it out of the water to get the water spots off then I do a spray wax ( I use babes) and it shines beautiful. But that mix will get your windows good too.

I always use Hot Sauce boat cleaner. It's better at removing water spots on dark colors.

I used to always use Babes then after Powell Babes wasn't doing it. Switched to Hot Sauce and is a ton better.

I use the hot sauce on the Windows also, then follow it up with Rain X.

I've tried Performance Boat Candy, Babes, and Boat Bling Hot Sauce - Boat Bling is the only one that does excellent at removing spots and adding shine.

Babes is useless (imo). PCB gives a better shine, but requires much more elbow grease to get the spots out.

When I'm feeling really motivated I clean with BB, then shine with PCB, but that's rare, lol.

The hot sauce does an amazing job on my black and purple gel, but it just doesn't cut it on the glass. I'll have to try the vinegar today.

I generally buy gallon jugs of vinyl sauce from Overton's after some bad experiences with ordering the spray bottles off of Amazon (I had at least 2 show up empty because they broke in shipment).
You can generally find decent coupons for Overton's and I normally seem to get free shipping.

I go either directly thru boat bling website, amazon, or marine-products.com. DFTR has a coupon code in his signature for them.
Dusty nailed it! www.marine-products.com is a great source for Boat Bling. Click here (http://www.marine-products.com/boat-bling-hard-water-spot-remover-qt-hs-0032.html)for a quick link to Boat Bling and you can use discount code DFTR2016 before you check out. I didn't see the gallon jugs on Hot Sauce on the website. why wouldn't they offer that?

I typically end up buying mine from either explosive powersports or Amazon.

BEST PRICE:
http://www.explosivepowersports.com/boat-bling-boat-bling-hot-sauce-gallon-hs-0128/
$32.41 + 11.23 shipping = $43.64 shipped. usually gets to me in a day.

Like Russell said, that storm came down on us really quick.

Here you can see the anvils in the background when they were about 50 miles away
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4vavev72yucts8d/Photo%20Jul%2009%2C%201%2033%2020%20PM.jpg?dl=1

Then as they were getting to close, we hauled a$$ to the ramp. Jill took this one while waiting for the ramp to clear before 40-60mph winds started blowing perpendicular to the ramp. She had to aim for the middle of the spot next to the trailer to be able to thread the needle on the trailer.

Matt, glad you had the radar on your mind!! I saw no less than 10 boats with their biminis ripped to shreds or gone. Saw one cruiser (40 foot range) try and get in his slip and could not do it. Finally headed out to lake and just rode it out. Here is one more shot of downed limbs at ramp. Crazy end to the day!!http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160710/4967ce2ffe55e2d5a52cf319bf5a3c29.jpg

Got the new Craz up to the local Surf Fest in UT and ended the day with just over 10 hours. Mid day a customer decided he was going to drive 1.5 hours and demo the boat. Amazing to see a new family with kids really enjoying the water and pretty much sold the parents seeing the smiles from the kids. The attention this color combo got was crazy! No mater on or off the water people came over to express how much they liked the way the boat looked. So dropped the boat off at the dealer for the 10 hour service and deliver to the new customer if all goes well Monday. Wasn't the plan to let this one go so quick but posted a picture on Facebook about it and it opened the gates of people that wanted it. On to the next adventure with another Craz I guess.

Looks like the black and blue Craz sold this morning! The next boat should be a 2016 Supra SC450, pretty stoked! Haven't rode an SC yet so I'm not sure what I'm up against but willing to find out just like the Craz. Thanks for everybody's help, advise, love, etc. and I'm sure going to need it with another whole new boat I know little about.

Haven't rode an SC yet so I'm not sure what I'm up against but willing to find out just like the Craz. Thanks for everybody's help, advise, love, etc. and I'm sure going to need it with another whole new boat I know little about.

might have to meet up so i can also experience the SC.

Well had the Black & Blue Craz for less then 48 hours till I posed about it on social media and customers came running. My customer drove 1.5 hours to come demo the craz on Saturday and took it home on Monday with his family. Got the call from my dealer saying their putting me in a 2016 Supra SC450 and I should be able to pick it up this Thursday. Was loving the Craz and finally got mine dialed just to pass on the info the the new owner. I'm stoked to get to know Supra so I can finally help out any customer at the boat show instead of passing them off to a Supra guy. Can't wait to start the break in hours and see the UT people at Fire On the Water this Satruday...

About the same as others with the suck gate: 7-800lbs in each rear locker, 3-4 passengers pretty evenly weighted. Basement/center 1180 bag full. Suck gate on opposite side ~20" forward of the transom and about 3/4 submerged. If you haven't built one yet you DEFINITELY should!

Little late to the July thread but I been a little busy lol.

Boat isn't in the water yet, had to do some cleaning, still need to fill it with fuel, wash the outside but we have been busy with other things so its lagging. But I have been able to spend a lot of time at the dock.

This view never gets old, nice little breeze blows in around 5 and makes sitting here perfect, you jump into the 80 degree water, never been in water this warm except Texas LOL. I am guessing at 80 it might be warmer.

Get back to the deck and breeze feels awesome while drinking some beers. I know you beer snobs will grumble about my selection, what you don't see here is the tumbler with Crown Royal Apple and Cranberry yummy!!

That's a bummer, but honestly I think a break is better than soft tissue damage. Better a bone than a ligament. It should heal quicker. It's just ironic that the biggest injuries happen doing NORMAL things. I did the midfoot ligament on my foot walking down stairs.

That said, if he ends up with a cast that can go in the water, surfing would still be possible. I was totally able to surf in my walking boot that had a similar amount of immobilization to a cast.

This was 2 months after tearing a ligament.

Went out twice yesterday... Not on purpose. Lol
Met everyone at the dock, loaded up and got outside the no wake zone, put the Spurs to her and the boat choked out and fell on its face. Long story short, I got to replace a fuel pump yesterday afternoon. Couldn't believe SMG in Conroe had one! Suprisingly easy replacement... Glad it happened yesterday and not out on the trinity for the Jam! That would have sucked.
Anyway, my wife took this picture while I was washing the gas outta the driveway before we headed back out for a test run.

Here's video from Sunday of my first time up on a surfboard after let's say, 100 attempts. Oh yeah, my wife forgot to turn on the gopro.

It wasn't pretty but I felt pretty good getting my 52 year old, 270 lb butt upon the board.

Hey Ghebert1111, all I can say after my seasons attempt as a first timer is well done. I'm about lets say 220lb and 50 years old, got up twice at the end of the season (it's Winter here now in Melbourne AUS). It felt like I was up for 15 odd seconds....unfortunately the video of both attempts say 4. Couldn't wipe the smile off my face tho, can't wait till Spring.
Cheers BruceR.

After being in the home for 10 days, I was finally able to get the time to put the boat in. Tried a couple times, rain would show up, or the boat wasn't clean enough after the trip. Was a little interesting self launching at the dock we have at this ramp only has 2 tie downs, no rails, and I was alone, got the job done though and the lake last night didn't disappoint. At 5 the wind stopped and the lake glassed out.

There is a big bridge we can see from out cove and dock, drove by that and there is a Marina so I found fuel, I think its $4 a gal which is a jump considering land prices are $2.20 lol

Other then that cruised around and watched the sun set, then tied her up in the dock.

Think I will move everything to the Starboard side today, get the cover back on since they are calling for afternoon showers again.

Nice! We'll be at our cottage on the North East end, but all the fun is at the South end.

Best launch for both traffic and ease of use is at Butches Tackle & Marine (6235 Crystal Springs Rd, Bellaire, MI 49615) which is about 1/3 of the way up the lake, on the East side (across the river from Dockside)

If you are in the Northern part of the lake you'll want to use the Torch Lake Day Park in Torch Lake Township, as the East Port Landing launch is washed up wth sand and you have to back past the tow vehicles front wheels to get an in-board off the trailer.

If you are staying on the South end of the lake, I'd definitely say the extra 15 min drive to Butches is worth it - the municipal boat launch on Crystal Beach road is conveniently located, but turns into a total zoo, plus parking is forever away.

I'm glad that our marina has a private launch, makes things easy for us :)

If you see my boat, anchored, docked, or whatever make sure to flag us down! I'll probably be at the sandbar most of the day tomorrow until around 5 when I head to the cottage. Maybe back at the Sandbar Sunday afternoon before I put the boat back in the marina :)

On the center the downside is when its open to the elements will be right on the tint.
But you tint the inside so its easier to maintain and it has some protection from water spots.

Mine was cut to size on outside and than placed on the inside of window. They also used pinstripe tape on outside of glass around edges to hide any shrinkage when make it fit into curve. Definitely not nearly as easy as a car or truck to fit on these curved windshields.

You think break in is essential or just peace of mind? My dealer does demos all the time on boats that are brand new and the first thing we do is sack the crap out of them with ballast and surf so customers can see what they're able to do before dropping 60-150k. They sell from Moomba to Nautique. I myself was surfing within first hour 🏄

Being that I end up selling my demo boats I do it by the book. When reading the manuals and it breaks down the "break in" of a boat I do it. Is it good? IDK but I can confidently tell the new owner that it was done according to the manual.

Personally I think break in periods are over rated with the tolerances easily achievable with CNC machines.
If the manufacturer really wanted to prevent you from over revving or exceeding a maximum rpm, it would be too easy to build that into the ECM's module. As in the first hour or five the motor cant rev to the max. Just like the limp home mode.

On my 08 LSV which has a similar dash I removed the windshield, I did not remove the glass.

On the newer boats there is enough room.

To remove the windshield, pull the rubber cover on the outside off, you will see all the screws, there is 2 that go through fiberglass, one on the driver side, one on the observer side, then you have the 2 at the ends of the windshield. Takes about 30 minutes to remove it.

This is a slippery slope to be honest.

My previous dealer takes boats out all the time and all models and runs them full ballast and runs them like they have break in already done.
on my 08 LSV i went by the book.
On my Mojo it was surfing from 1hr on the clock until now.

I honestly don't think you need to run the break in hours, but you do how ever need to be mindful that you are somewhat following the rules of break in, as in don't stay at a constant RPM all the time and things like that.

As for my Forum view, you need to follow the manual and do your break in hours as specified.

When I bought my new F150 Eco Ford said drive 1K miles before you tow anything.

When I bought my new Ram Diesel the dealer said take it home, hook your boat to it and drive 300 miles LOL. I have always been of the mind, drive it from day 1 how you intend to drive it on the last day you own it. So I take no mercy on my engines and I drive them how I intend to.

Exactly. When I built turbo and race motors for cars they were broke in on track, not cruising down a side street at a leisurely pace. I change my oil every 25 hours since after first two at 10 and 25. So I feel confident on the reliability on longevity of mine for years to come.

The water at LBC hasn't been 64 since early June. Unless you're way up a river arm. Not sure why you're seeing such a swing. It's 72 in the main lake.

Just what the temp gauge has been reading each morning at 7.30am. Right in front of the cabins by the Cove Marina, where I take my first ski. And by mid day the temp gauge reads about 72.

Ya got me.

Right after launch

First long run out of the water after trying off and on for two weekends.
Thanks to posts here and others about starting by running on shore a few times.
We did that, then at the end of Sundays he would finally choose to try behind the boat.
We keep telling him to not wait till the last of the last day to go, but what can you do. He doesn't want "anyone to watch"...Pretend signs on the boat help.

I was really paranoid pulling in there. It was actually 15' deep in that little part directly under the boat which surprised me. There is a rock ledge that goes about a foot in from what's exposed and then drops straight down.

Finally got a chance to really session the new SC and boy am I impressed. This 21' boat was really built to surf but the wakeboard wake is pretty impressive. At 5600' I could only use 85% Rears and 100% front ballast, so guessing 1600 rear and 1000 nose. I still have to play with a little but as you can see from the pictures it was like riding a bike with a 75' line and 24 mph.

The SE (I think all Supra's) have the rear seat, above the swim platform, which is what they are sitting on. If I had to place a bet, I'd lean towards it not being legal. I'm not sure if it would be a ticket or a warning.

We were using the seats to teach the first timer, which went ropeless as you can see :)
