From what I heard no new boat for the 2017 model as they just release the Helix. But there are new features coming like the tower, factory wet sounds, and a new surf system. I'm hoping to demo that next weekend on a craze at Sea Ray Cincy's Norris lake party / demo for Moomba and Supra. I was hoping for a new model as this is the third season with the Mondo and ready for something bigger again. Our teenage boys and their friends are growing.

Probably something to make our brand new 2016 boats out of date. You would think a new model would stay relatively new and current for at least a few years without a bunch of new stuff year to year but doesn't seem to be the case.

Seems like if could be super awesome for the wake snobs. Couldn't see myself being picky enough to need something like this. I could only imagine the headache it would be when any one component of the boat or system is not functioning properly.

I don't think that they are suggesting that you absolutely list, considering it works in conjunction with the tabs and gates. It measures the angle of the boat side to side and front to back along with draft and any other settings to create your wave. When that is saved, it will simply recreate it time and time again, at least that is the way I understand it. I believe they use the listed boat to make the point that it can work with listed boats and retain that same degree of list...if so desired.

I want an auto wake! We literally have 3-100lbs lead bags that we slide around to balance out the wake so we are not moving people. I can never take the first set because I have to get the wake dialed according to who is in the boat.

The system compensates for people in the boat. It will adjust tabs and/or ballast depending on where people are sitting and if they move around from side to side or front to back. It basically keeps the boat at the ideal angle no matter where people move around to in the boat.

Pound
07-29-2016, 11:51 AM
What is the ideal angle?

Dandy21
07-29-2016, 12:23 PM
What is the ideal angle?

Whatever you decide it to be. I believe you will be able to have several presets. You may like a different wave/wake than you wife or best friend. Once you find your desired wake/wave, you should be able to create a pre-set and have it recreate it over and over with that/those angles. If it works as I understand, once you have YOUR wake/wave dialed in, you can then set it. In addition, this should allow the factory to take the time (assuming they do) to dial in the wake/wave for each of their models and have the same wake/wave that they advertise with factory ballast set everytime and then the user can tweak from there. I believe that if SC takes the time to really set up and create different profiles/settings for each model boat, this will be huge as the "out of the box" experience should be consistent for every new owner.

Pound
07-29-2016, 02:06 PM
That was kinda the point to my question. Don't many of the premium boats come w/user presets already? yet, you still have to play w/the wake initially to find the optimum set up. and again for each rider. I don't see this tool creating any advantage there. Yes, dynamically adjusting wake plates, trim tabs, and ballast to maintain the wake as people move around and conditions change could be a plus, but I don't see this in any way creating an "out of the box" surfing set up. The factory might have some basic standard settings, but they already do that too. My manual came w/suggested settings. But what's the first thing everyone does w/a surf boat (especially a Moomba)... add more weight. which would/could make the factory pre-sets no longer ideal.
I'm by no means knocking the innovation this product is trying to bring. I'm looking forward to seeing it in action somewhere.

Pound
07-29-2016, 02:21 PM
I think as the engineering continues to progress, hull length and design itself will have the most impact to surf quality. It seems like they're figuring out that shorter boats that can punch a deeper hole in the water will create the best wake for surfing. There seems to be a resurgence in 20' boats (i.e. Helix, the new 20' Nautique, etc). engineers spent 100+ years making boats more efficient w/less drag and now the sport of wake surfing requires somewhat the opposite paradigm.

Not alone. Considering my dealer just sold a "Helix" for 70. I see new Supreme 238, Tiges, Axis going for 57-70 right now. I may have to join the dark side this fall when I'm ready to trade up to bigger and more advanced surf boats. I'm not brand bias, I go with the best deal, and options available to suit my needs and it seems there is a lot of competition these days. They all run the same motors, windshields, etc. not like we're comparing Honda to Lambo anymore.

Why not just do it that way from the start and not make me feel link I'm behind months after getting this new expensive toy. It doesn't motivate me to look forward to future innovations, it makes me feel like I should have waited. Tech is always changing and I get that but I don't know many auto manufacturers that make significant changes like that when rolling out new models, they generally wait a couple years.

I feel you brother, I was pissed to after I bought my 15 & 6 months later the 16s came out & had the reversible seats & a few other things. Then i realized they have to stay innovative to compete with the other manufactures. Surfing has taken off the past few years & there is so many boats in Moomba's price range. They have to innovate to stay ahead.

Although they are listing for 79K wait until next Summer and you can easily pick up a 2017 for mid to lower 60's. Boats have crazy markups. Of course the 2018 will come out 2 months later with new stuff and you will be pissed all over again! It is a never ending cycle.

As to the pricing question. Pricing moved around 3% depending on the model. So using the current 2016 Pricing configurator will get you MSRP on a 2017 within a couple of points.

Looking to purchase a new boat this fall. I think I have it narrowed down to the 2017 Craz vs the Supreme S238. Does anyone have any experience with the Supreme Line or some insight that I should consider? While on the lake I would say that we Wakesurf 50% of the time and Tube/wakeboard the other 50%. I'm really intrigued with the release of the Autowake feature but really like the Supreme price point.

I compared both boats as the dealers are across the street from each other. The Supreme dealer also sells Yamaha's and sold me my first boat. I liked the seating layout and overall build quality better in the Moomba.

S238 has one of the best out of the box surf waves I've seen to be quite honest. They have came a long ways in the shadows of their big brother Centurion just like Moomba to Supra. If it were me, I would find the boat you like and demo it and compare that way. Just make sure the one you demo is the one that comes with applicable surf system or tabs. Most manufactures now days are all pretty comparable on warranties from the hull to motor and so forth. Price point and resale is one thing to look at too. I am all about getting the most out of my money and like to save it too. So if they are both equal in ride and fun factor, go with the better deal - especially if we're talking thousands in price difference.

Shit even Sanger has came a long ways, even though I would never own one because of the small feeling and freeboard, my buddy had a V215 and this is his surf wave from our trip out this weekend. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160802/13cd0c16273b7b53577f07a141c453af.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160802/5b8aa02b487e9b282adc2eecda1f0d80.jpg

spent some time in a 226 and hated how large the bow was compared to the rest of the boat. hope they fixed that in the 238.
do keep in mind that comparing the craz at 22ft and the 238 at 23.5ft is not really apples. s226 would be more of a direct comparison.

That's a valid point - I forgot to mention in my earlier statement that based on price points, I could purchase the S238. Th Craz seats 16 and the S238 is 16. Has anyone had a chance to demo the Autowake on the Moomba?

I would definitely demo them both if you can and wouldn't put too much emphasis on occupancy limit. I own an S226 and capacity sticker says 14 but I would't want to step over that many people in my boat. Just sayin. We personally like the large bow and 1 of the reasons we went that route. Then again I have 4 girls in my family so thats where they like to be.
The 238 is another foot in the lounge area so it balances the bow out extremely well and if you are on big water a deep V hull gets the edge.
I think either boat are excellent choices and don't discount the importance of your local dealer. I would demo the dealer as much as I would the boat and can't emphasize enough how important a good dealer can be before, during, and after purchase!!!!

Here's a few points to consider when comparing Moomba and Supreme (this is to my knowledge)

1. Standard Engine: Moomba 6.2L Raptor. Supreme has a Crusader 5.7L 350.
2. Warranty: Moomba offers 5 years on the engine and 5 years on the boat. Supreme offers 3 years on the engine, not sure on the boat but I don't believe it is 5 yrs.
3. Dealer Network: Moomba has over 100 dealers nationwide. Supreme has around 20 dealers to my knowledge.
4. NMMA CSI Awards (Customer Satisfaction): Moomba leads industry with over 11 awards in a row. Supreme hasn't won any to my knowledge.
5. Standard Ballast: Craz has 2000 lbs. Supreme has 1100 lbs.

I have its really hard to see a difference really roomy for a 20 ft boat I could not tell a difference the only thing that stood out for me was it does look smaller from the outside but once inside you forget you are in a 20 ft boat, the stock surf wave was huge and the wakeboard wave was good and you could also take it down a slalom course it was pretty flat around 28 to 32 mph really nice boat.

Why is there a trend right now for the shorter 20' boat? Is it a performance thing or just easier storage and lower price? Seemed like it used to be the bigger boat was better for everything. Although I've never ridden behind a 24 footer

I think it's part storage and part that some private lakes have boat size restrictions.

I want to design a boat that will be in the UT boat show, I think this is mainly why their expressing concerns. Either or their a kick ass bunch and I will help sell whatever they have on the floor.

New Glove box door.

Rick, is this door interchangeable with other years? Specifically my 15 Mondo? Would love to get one powder coated in my boat 🇺🇸

I still don't understand why they haven't released info yet. They've been selling them over a month now

Could be a lot of reasons - maybe printer didn't get catalogs right/complete, maybe they got content late, maybe web developer has had issues . . . .

Putting a product launch together is extremely difficult, time consuming and takes a ton of integration & coordination. They are probably already working on 2018!

Not be take what you say and make you sound like you said something different.

Besides the new SR, seems like a slow model year for SC.
