I just bought an '08 Outback and the stereo isn't working properly... The stereo will power up and it appears to be working... I can change the station, volume, etc... but nothing is coming through the speakers... it's the 6 speaker set up with the Stock Kenwood receiver... it also has the kicker amp as well... I know this is was mentioned before but no real answers that I could find... any help would be great...
Thanks

Is the power light or logo on the amp lit up?

I did check the fuse in the amp and it's good...

If you have a multimeter, check the + and - cables at the amp.
If that is good, check for +12v on the remote-turn on lead with the head unit on, usually a smaller blue wire at the amp.

Yep, get the volt meter and test just as zd215 stated. if B+ and B- there where it should be, amp is issue. If not, then trace back to source until problem found.

Thanks for the replies... I don't have a volt meter... I will probably just take it somewhere and have it checked as I'm not too keen on electronics...LOL

You might want to start here before you take it in:

Well get good then. Simple testing can be learned pretty easily. It will save you money in the long run and even allow you to solve some problems while on the water. A decent multimeter can be purchased for under 30 bucks. One that will do the job.

What the other posters are saying is the trigger wire that the amp uses to know the head unit is on, is unpowered or disconnected.
