First time surfing the Craz as a rookie. Got the Starboard side cleaned up with a little list.

Then the port got a chance to show with a first time surfer.

Here is a good shot of the wake on the Craz. I actually messed with it some more after this shot. To get it even bigger. Only had 3 people in the boat. Love surfing!

We tracked down a new Craz over the weekend that looked like they needed some help surfing. Took all of 10 mins to dial in a wave that looked as sweet as this one. Hoping to get back out with them this coming weekend to get it really dialed in for them. Awesome boat, IMO.

Hope everyone is having a great season!

Haven't had my boat in the water yet this month, as I have been on the road for the last week. Wife found a rental online Monday after I left and did the apps before we saw the house, I arrived in Atlanta Saturday late morning and met the realtor and owner of the house. Locked in the rental for 1 year plus as long as we need it after that. Feeling very lucky as our first rental fell through after we were approved due to the owner changed his mind to sell instead of rent.

We always say, if its meant to be it will be. With that we scored a much better home on Lake Lanier for only a hundred a month more. Life is going to be good in the ATL.

Owner said I can add a lift if I want, which I am thinking of going air lift so i can take it with us to the home we purchase down the road.

That is wicked cool Tracy! Things were a sh** show in Vancouver with record setting temps, but getting to the launch by 9am cured that. Seriously, that's all the early we had to be there to only have a couple people using the launch with us. Now, pulling the boat out was a whole other story!

Saturday I was on my own with record setting temps in Vancouver/Portland. The wife was doing an all day bachelorette deal in wine country with a limo to take them to various wineries for tastings. I just told her to leave me the truck keys, as I'd be on the water!!!

Did a morning and a mid-day shift on the water on Saturday. For the morning shift we actually had a goofy surfer, which is rare on my boat. so did my best to have a clean goofy wave for him. it took more speed and wakeplate, but we got something for him to play on.
http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/20160604_114248_zpsedkbkzx5.jpg

For the afternoon shift, my buddy brought out his 5 year old. We took the Versa along for his son. He couldn't resist surfing the Versa though, LOL. That thing is a freaking tank. weighs 20 pounds! it's kinda ridiculous.
http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/20160604_143310_zpsvhrizvmf.jpg

After that, he took his kid for a doubles ride on his Lakewakes board.

Sunday of course the wife was ready to get on the boat! (Limos are nice, but with record setting 100 degree heat in Portland, the boat is where it's at!).

We ended up following a big cabin cruiser yacht down the Columbia River and it was throwing well over 5' swells behind it. They were smooth and widely spaced and we actually had a BLAST surfing them with the XLV! it was like being on a roller coaster ride. I timed the swells great and the women in the bow were giggling like school girls.

Water is still about 62 degrees on the river, but with weather like this, it's finally starting to warm up more.

Had the opportunity to take a friend out for his first time on the boat. He was excited to try wakeboarding and got up on the 2nd pull and rode it with ease. It's nice to have snowboarders try wakeboarding--as it's such a easy crossover. It was also cool to have people on the boat that were more excited to wakeboard than surf. Surfing cool, but with so many people shunning wakeboarding these days, it's awesome to get some support for it.

http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/moments_a3019027-cfef-4271-81e4-42e53fef648c_hi_res_zpsmvn4e2k5.jpg

The wife of course was super stoked to get her surf on. We finally clicked as driver and rider and I got her the perfect pulls for her to get up first time no problem. She got a record long surf going from one end of our slough to the other and she was dancing on the board to the tunes that were jamming. She finished with the song "I Love this Life" and that was pretty fitting.

http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u492/traysonh/Moomba%20XLV/FB_IMG_1465184833381_zps3inlx0cy.jpg

It feels good for me to be back on the wakeboard and surfboard. The ligament is definitely not 100%, and I'm not letting myself do any wake to wake jumps on the wakeboard (it's killing me to hold back from jumping), but I squeaked out a couple little toeside 180's, so that made me feel good. Surfing feels decent as long as I wear the wakeskate shoe, but the foot definitely gets tired. VERY happy to be on the water though.

Here is some photos of last weekends Mile High Meet and Greet in south CO Lake Meredith. Ended up being 45 boats tied up to a pontoon with a DJ and a FM transmitter. Everyone with had the same music. The sounds was amazing floating in the water about 30 ft back. Still looking for the ariel shot they got with the drone.

90 degree day in Portland/Vancouver on Tuesday. had a great crew on the water last night. We were having a flat out blast and the tunes were old school ROCKING. I have a friend that is just crazy into waterskiing on two skis. he just loves it for some crazy reason. so he wanted to do an endurance session as we drove back to the dock from our ride spot. Well, he rode his skis over 6 miles back to the launch! there was one point where we were getting into a whole mess of sailboats on the river and one did a tack pretty close to us going from our port side to our starboard. and we ended up going past him with the boat somewhat close (because we couldn't go much more to the port because of water depth). My buddy cut all the way out on his skis and went right up to the side of the sail boat and gave the guy that was hiked out on his boat a high five as he went by on skis. It was nuts and everyone on our boat went wild.

A couple pics from the evening:

Good lord... Y'all are getting 90's in the PNW and down here in south east Texas its highs of 75* and rain in freakin June! WTF?!?
And to top it all off, as soon as the rain clears out for a few days I'm stuck in Bromont QC Canada just long enough to be back home for the next round of rain.
Trayson... I need friends like yours. I can't give boat rides away down here sometimes!
We finally closed on the new house and started moving the 1st of June. This is what we've been dealing with. The builders were nice enough to go out in the rain and put the sign in the yard. Lol only bright side is the new house is less than 4 minutes from the storage building!

First outing of the year and first time using a fakegate.

Not proud of the tube behind the boat (happens once a year) but I did get my daughter behind the boat for the first time. "Dadda go faster" then she lays down between the wife and sister and pretends to fall asleep... it was classic.

Right now all I'll say is that I currently have BOTH Wet Sounds AND Exile products in my boat, and I'm a fan of both. SO there's a high likelihood that one of those companies got more of my money...

Stay tuned...

So we had a great set for about 4 hours tonight. As I was dropping the driver to go get the truck I felt a vicious jerk and knew something was wrong. We limped on to the trailer and as we pulled out we found that some asshat left a string with a buoy on it and we picked it up. It had a metal ring on it that managed to break off part of the prop and Crack it in another. Needless to say....im pleased. I don't remember if it is right or not, can someone please tell me of the gap behind the prop and in front of the shaft housing (which looks to be about an inch) is normal and supposed to be there or if the rope in some way pushed it to separate more than it should? Also, any suggestions on anew easy prop puller?

First outing of the year and first time using a fakegate.

Not proud of the tube behind the boat (happens once a year) but I did get my daughter behind the boat for the first time. "Dadda go faster" then she lays down between the wife and sister and pretends to fall asleep...

Man, just embrace the tubes, nothing to be ashamed of. That's about alll we can do on saturdays as busy as our lake gets on the weekend, the water gets too rough to do just about anything else...Plus it will get the younguns comfortable behind the boat which is a big step to other watersports.

Wakemakers discount will get you a decent deal on the prop puller. I think the gap is normal. If you can't move the prop forward or back, it's likely still seated.

Ok cool. I've seen 2 styles. The harmonic for like 40 bucks and the clamp style for like 90. I am assuming the clamp is easier and more efficient?

I've never heard any complaints on the clamp. I used it once and it worked fine. here's a video on it. It works on 4 blade props, not 5 blade.

I've only used the C clamp and it's way easy to use. Most people like to wrench down on it till the prop gives and it's very dangerous. 1. the prop will come off with hand cutting force 2. Break your C clamp. A few turns and a slight hit on the back and your done. Not sure where I got mine but the tool that came with it fits the C clamp and the nut on the shaft. No extra tools needed except and little hammer.
Remember when putting your new prop on there's a process and not just bolt and go. It will have a torque rating, I always torque then loosen the nut and torque again to help with the seating of the prop.

Yeah, I think I remember in the instructions that you don't use the clamp like a vice/press. I do remember doing what you said and pinging it with a hammer. It's all in the instructions on the unit.

That said, would the harmonic one work just as well? Maybe. And it's 1/2 the price. But typically you get what you pay for, so I went with the tool that had the best reputation.

This is (was) our boat leaving with its new owner..definelty a sad day! We are taking this year off because our 11 month old twins are just a bit too much work to take out boating, and we have a lot of work to finish (landscaping, concrete, lawn, etc) on our new house.

The boat went to a great family so we're happy with that.

We will be back next year bigger and better! I am already getting excited to start searching for our next boat- likely a Mojo..

Yeah, as excited as I've been for the upgrade, I couldn't have down time when we were having 90+ degree days. And I had to do a little LED magic of course, so that takes time.

I should be posting pics tonight!

That was a given on the pics.. WS or exile?

I honestly love both companies, and have both exile and ws in my boat. I could have been happy with either, but I had a pair of WS Rev410s offered up to me at a really killer price, so I couldn't pass them up.

And they are going to fit my amplifier setup great. I already had my kicker 6 pack running off a PPI P600.2 so for the rev's I added another one. 600 watts mono at 4 ohms to each one. Woot!

They fit my tower well and are gonna work out great with my cargo Bimini.

Thanks! I was actually pleased to find out that the rev410's have 9/16" *less* hang height than the Rev10's. and I was able to go with the fixed clamps, so that helps the hang height even more. If I stand under the lowest part of the 410's I can just feel my hair brush against them when I'm standing flat. the frame of my cargo bimini is actually quite a bit lower than the 410's. And with the way that the curve in the back, i can put 2 surfboards on the cargo bimini and not have them interfere with the speakers at all. I didn't lose any board carrying space. That said, I'm SURE that me and others will hit their head on them from time to time. But I'm sure they're going to ROCK! so I can live with that tradeoff. I can't wait to get them on the water to test them out.

I was also surprised at how much space I was able to get in between them. I thought they were going to be almost touching in the center. But as you can see from the pics, I was able to widen out their install quite a bit.

Looks great. Any more info on the LEDs? I'd like to add some to my tower speakers and those look nice.

I've done LED's a couple different ways. on my 6.5" pods, I had some custom acrylic rings made and hot glued led strips to the inside of the rings. I have also used LED angel eye rings in a few applications. You can find the LED angel eye rings on ebay in a variety of diameters and colors. (they are really made to make car headlights look like the Angel eyes on BMW headlights, but they work great for lighting up the cone of a speaker.)

I will typically measure the diameter that will suit a speaker grill best and then attach it to the inside of the grill with the LED's shining on the cone of the speaker. On my polk DB 651 in boat speakers, I was able to glue the angel eyes on, but I had to use little zip ties on some of the other speakers I've done. I drill a little hole through the grill to feed the wires through so they can get to the spot where they can pass under the lip of the speaker basket. I just run the wires under the speaker (usually speakers have some padding on the underside of the lip where they mount up, so the wires have been able to go there without shorting out).

I go with the single color (blue) LED's because I really just like blue, and because it's easier to do the wiring with just 2 wires instead of the 4 wires that would be needed for RGB. Plus the LED's are cheaper as single color and I don't need a controller. With just positive and negative to power the angel eyes, you just have to figure out how to get a 2 conductor wire to each speaker and how to power them. For my tower speakers, I had 4 conductors per side running through the tower for the stock tower speakers, so I was able to re-purpose 2 of those conductors per side to be for LED power leaving the remaining two for powering the speaker itself. (I went from a stock 4 channel amp setup to using a 2 channel amp on my tower speakers in the process). I wired all my LED's into the court light circuit so they're all controlled by a switch on the dash.

Here you can see them on the inside of the Polk's
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9JI2ehv-c5M/VRsD-TVAROI/AAAAAAAAYhE/KiONIHc7CwU9qGG4v5vEBeescdA2VlMUwCCo/s800/20150330_202654.jpg

This is an angel eye on the inside of one of my kicker speaker grills:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-obYsbUbSvXE/VTW6oSVL8TI/AAAAAAAAYpc/VUixlB7gdos6MgSQkjXEp3EYTXbB8saVQCCo/s800/20150420_163545.jpg

on my subwoofers, I used Polk audio grills. I drilled little holes and mounted the zip ties through the holes in the plastic. It worked pretty slick and the zip ties are almost invisible from the front. As you can tell, for the subs and the REV's I needed larger diameter angel eyes than I used for the 6.5" speakers. Pretty much it's just measuring the diameter you think would work and then searching on ebay for something that matches up to that (in MM)

Made it to the lake house this weekend. Tried to board yesterday after the rain passed but it was too rough so we ended up stopping at the island and swimming. Got Nolan in the water and he had a ball splashing water everywhere. Got some surfing in later in the evening and then got stopped by the water cops for a safety inspection. First time I've ever been asked if I've been drinking and if they could look at my eyes. It was weird and a little scary lol. Here is a shot of the boat this morning, so calm! The second shot is our cove mascot. I think he's 5-6 ft long from what I can tell. I tried to get a better picture with an actual zoom camera but the lens fogged up as soon as I went outside.

I love it. I have thought about the bigger motor, but I'm not sure I really need it. It will be a discussion when I buy my next one, but I will probably end up with 400 again. I will say I think switching to 93 octane has helped performance on hole shot when loaded.

We like to wakeboard more than surf. However with the wind blowing and a few minor injuries this years it's been more surfing than I'd like. Boat does both well.

Aiden rose in his first tournament last weekend. He took 1st in His class for wakebord on Saturday and 1st in Junior Surfing on Sunday. I am excited to see where this goes.

The bottom pic was his Indy Grab that he learned two days before his first run. This kid learns fast!

Went from being 100 degrees, back down to shit. The spring has really sucked, one minute it's nice and the next it gets so cold it destroys temps in lake. I'm ready for some consistency before I winterize my boat again.

The boat that started it all! This came across my Facebook feed, after 49 years my dad's friend sold his 16' Tahiti with 150 Merc. I grew up behind this thing. It was all we needed to have a great time doing all kinds of waster sports. Hell I rode a 5' wooden disc standing on a 6' step ladder behind it.

Uninsurable big! It's actually sat too much over the last 20 years because he was at a point in his life he couldn't risk boating uninsured. It was every bit of a 50mph boat which translated into 11 cartwheels across the top of the water before going in if you couldn't hold onto the tube during a full speed whip. My dad was an old school boat racer and when he took the helm you put your life in God's hands!

I do like it. I am just wondering if there is something a little better out there for me. Nothing wrong with it. Actually still has all three fins in, have yet to try with two. Right now I am having trouble recovering when I fall back (and not very far) I am sure it's that I'm a beginner, but I can't help but wonder what a board designed for a bigger guy would do (200#) Will taking the center out make the board any faster?

The center fin actually helps provide drive in the board removing could slow it down. Look to a custom board like Doomswell or Soulcraft or any other custom board maker. 100% night and day difference in speed. You will never want to ride anything else.

Thats an interesting point. I picked up a new Happy Pill and it has two larger fins on the side and nothing in the middle, felt like I did not have much push or drive from the board. It came with two smaller fins that go more inside, still not a single middle but closer.

Are you saying I could potentially get a better board experience by using the smaller fins closer to the middle? Of course I'm open to ideas.

Was a great day, only 4th time I have been out since I have been so busy this year with the move. First time surfing, even got to surf my New last year Soul Craft board.

I was too heavy for it last year, but this year i am down a pretty significant amount. 65+ at this point actually.

DW, I am real new to surfing, surfed for first time ever at the end of April. I have been able to get my 5 and 6 year old surfing with me. We do not go long without rope but they enjoy it. First time I had my 5 year old sit on board on her knees and hold on to me until we were up. This worked pretty good. Yesterday I tried with her feet on the board and basically sitting in my lap in the water. This was easier. It's a workout because you are pulling up extra weight! I think safety is fine, we have crashed a few times. The smile on their face is awesome. Give it a try.

If you don't mind me asking how do you get up with a little kid like that and what is your experience level, it just I would like to try with my 6 year old son but am new to surfing so don't know how or if I should even try for safety sakes until I am a bit more experienced thank you in advance. Love the picture
The most work is getting up. The extra 40 pounds can make it a little more challenging with when to commit and stand. She is 4.5 and I had her riding with me several times last summer too. With her I have to get her up first try because once she gets taken under she needs a timeout to regroup before she will try again. Water was REALLY bad yesterday so didn't get to go ropeless because the wave kept getting blasted but it was fun nonetheless. I'm ok at surfing, by no means pro (spinning 3's, riding both sides goofy and regular, and just starting to play with shuv-its). I think if you're pretty comfortable riding ropeless you'll be fine with the little one.

Also with your 6yo he might be able to already have his feet on the board inside of yours and you can tell him to stand as you pull up, that would help a lot! My daughter I have to pick her up and set her on the board once I am standing, that is exhausting lol. Super fun though. The giggles that come when they get comfortable is priceless man! The goal is summer after next have her on her own. She is already getting ok with swimming so we are on a good path.

Great day on lewisville! Tell Ash thanks for the surf lessons. It turned out to possibly be an expensive Saturday. One dead surfboard and I spent all Sunday evening looking at supra's. 😬

We all had a blast, and were back out at 1:00 on Sunday. The lake lived up to its true form then, Saturday was an awesome anomaly.

It was great to meet Russell & family for the first time, and it has taken too long to get Audrey & Kira together.

Audrey had a great time surfing Dusty's SE, and was so happy for Kira when she got up on the Scamp. Now we just need Kira to teach Audrey her wakeboard skills.

All those girls that were making Dusty rethink things:

Rance, are you suggesting I come to the Jam :-)

I think Russell is on board as well.

As for those looking to get little ones up with you... My 5 year olds insist on going surfing with daddy any time we're out (and they have since they were almost 4). What I do is put them between my legs, and they wrap their arms around my thighs. They put their heels on the board just like I do, then we just pop up like I normally do. Once we're moving I have them position their feet next to mine and we're off. I've done this with kids ranging from 30-50+lbs.
The hardest time I had was last summer with a 9 year old. She was so tall, that when she stood up between my legs, she threw me off the back of the board... But we got it figured out on her 2nd try.

Dusty, my son rides a scamp too. This was today. he's still getting used to it, but this was his first day touching a wakesurf board since the end of last summer. We just got him a new hurley wetsuit (it's awesome having friends that work for Nike) and he was able to get in a little line ride. It was rough out, so we were happy to see some progress. Check out wakemakers for the scamp. I got mine there and used the 10% forum discount.

he is skinny as anything and the water was 62 degrees. Could he have worn less? Maybe. But I figure that if he's more comfortable in one and that gives him the encouragement to get out there and take pull after pull, then I'm totally going to support that. Plus, it was a big surprise that I got it for him and he was super stoked to try it out since it was brand new.

In 62 water, I would have been in wetsuit shorts and a heater jacket myself. Doesn't bother me to throw on my neoprene. I WISH our water would even hit the upper 60's. We're lucky when it even breaks into the 70's. Such is life in the over here on the west side of the mountains. But hey, I still ride from April through early November. Just gotta make the best with what you have.

Got out for the afternoon yesterday on the Mojo, only 3rd time in the water this year. Wow, that hurts typing that fact LOL. Was real warm low 80s, water was 68ish but we had a wicked wind most of the day.

Mostly let Oso swim and had a couple brews. Sure tasted great after not having any fore more then 4 months lol.
Also stoped by Exile to get the new swag. Coozies and Floating Key chain.

Where did you boat at yesterday? It was odd to be at Hagg and not have you there. Water in Hagg started at 62.5 and was almost 65 later on. Still not warm enough.

WAKE the world was right. It got so rough that we caught a roller at rest that literally swamped over the side of the boat and drenched the floor. And that was with no ballast.

Yea I decided not to do WTW this year, boat is stored by West Linn, hour to the boat, hour to Hagg, then do it again to put the boat away.

With our moving plan I couldn't commit this year 100% so I had to pass.

Definitely missed not being there though, I love doing the events.

understandable. it was well over 90 minutes for me to get home from WTW. Google even had me go home Cornealus Pass Rd to save like 12 minutes of heavy traffic on 26. But after taking Germantown road to the St Johns bridge and smelling my brakes, I was questioning that decision. I've done Germantown on the sportbike! the road's a LOT smaller with a trailer. Damn.

You shoulda just come out w/o the boat. there were a lot of people that only had captain and first mate on their boats. Heck, I would have even let you help out by parking our Ecoboost! LOLOL

Finally got out for a bit today, and holy cow lake Conroe is warm. It's like getting in a bath tub... Miserable in some spots. Last time we were out it was still so chilly it was hard to stay in for more than a few minutes! All this flooding rain has skipped the enjoyable temps in the lake.
Wifey had to work and my trip cancelled as I was walking out the door, and the kids asked if we could head out.
No tubes today! All wakeboarding! Here we have a post run briefing... Lol

I scored a ridiculous deal. some of the Hurley boys wetsuits were on closeout and I have a friend that works for Nike, so was able to get employee pricing on top of that. Pretty rad! I bought a size 8 and also bought a size 10 that he'll grow into later. They're nicer wetsuits than mine and were crazy cheap!

Went out today.

Highlights:
Did a slalom ski run for the first time since my midfoot ligament tear. Got up first pull.
Got my first jumping in on the wakeboard since the ligament tear. Nothing crazy, just some smooth wake to wake.
Tested out the suck gate, got about 1, maybe 2 more board lengths worth of pocket... all for under $10.
My son got his longest lineride on the surf board so far
Had lunch after playing, ate outside at a floating restaurant that you get to via boat.

I believe dusty has seablaze I remember from another thread. This looks awesome. Not to mention if this is texoma it's still really dirty red water.

Yes, I have 2 Lumitec Seablaze Rgb lights. This is in Texoma, which right now looks like a mud puddle and has less than 6" visibility. I am more than impressed with the output.

A pic of Aiden riding in his first WWA event. I am so proud of this little guy. Almost a year ago during his first lesson he decided that he wanted to compete and has worked hard to accomplish his goal.

Yessir, east side of Wood island facing Highport. You frequent Texoma? I know I have seen a few mojos out.

Yeah we go to texoma most of the time. We spend our time on the other side of the lake over near catfish bay. Bought our mojo last year which probably caused all of the flooding! Hopefully the lake clears up soon... It can be really clear at times. I'm not griping about the rain though... Just the floods.

HAHAHA good to know, I was planning on testing mine in a bucket first. Claudia got it because its so much hotter in GA and she keeps saying something about me spending all my time on the dock playing with Oso in the water and needing my beer to stay cold LOL

What lake is that? the water is so blue. I used to work at Micron and would spend all summer on Lucky Peak.

That was on bear lake on the idaho utah border a couple of weekends ago. It was a lot of fun we went during the week and camped for a few days and would be the one of a handfull of boats so we had lots of room to play

Spending the week at Prineville reservoir in central OR.

Water is 72 right now (starts at 64 early). Weather is sunny and high 80s

Took the center fin off the wife's board. It's sage to say it won't be back on anytime soon.
