I've searched the forum for flag holders. Saw that diywake.com was recommended a few times. Is this the one everyone is talking about?

http://www.diywake.com/flag-holder

Looks like it's just for that standard orange down rider flag?

anyone know what the mad flag size can fit? Also what the OZ HD tower diameter is? Thanks!!!

Hoping to fly the red, white & mother effin blue for Memorial Day! 🇺🇸

I purchased the flag buddy but it only fits standard orange flags. I made a good American Flag for the local flag shop that fits inside since the cheap $1 ones rip every trip out. Also matches my black tower and can't really tell it's there when the flag's not in it.

Very cool Shane, although I believe that the flag should be flown on the other side, displaying it on it's own right or the "marching right" side of the vehicle.

When I had my Supra I made my own flag holders out of PVC pipe for a quick display option... My tower on the Moomba isn't as vertical so I might have to break down and get the DIY wake ones.

On Independence Day Last year I got in a pinch and didn't have anything setup for the XLV, so I just zip tied the flag to the tower.

Now where can I get a solid U-S-OF-A flag to fly high?

What I ended up doing was getting some PVC tubing (I think it's like 3/4") from home depot. It was in the irrigation section so it's pretty thick walled and bends a little but isn't flimsy. I drilled a couple holes in it and used zip ties. Then used a 3x5 or 4x6 flag.

Powder coat is pretty cheap. That being said I got a skier down flag holder that clips to my Bimini. Works perfect!!!

I had one for my last boat. "flag buddy". They're okay. they work fine for a skier down flag, but definitely not for anything bigger.

I just bought this flag holder, its apx 1 inch inside diameter and its a beefy flag holder. Its got a built in adjusting pin to allow you to tilt it in different angles.
It also came with 2 rubber inserts to make sure it fits your tower.

Just measure the diameter of your tower where you want to mount it, divide by 3.14 and you have the size you need. Just order the closest size to it.

Mike came out to $58 with shipping.

Yeah, I gave a link on post #6 that it's available from bulletlines on ebay with free shipping. Maybe you should call them and get them to credit your shipping.

That said, I know that you have your "ebay boycott" so I guess you might just have to eat the $12 or $13 of shipping... One of these days you should really reconsider your "ebay boycott". This is a good example.

Oh crap didn't realize they were the same thing. I know now. Sorry and Thanks. Just bought a flag buddy that mounts to the window or bimini, with code "flag buddy" got it for $28 shipped, off of the caddie buddy website. Sorry to partially hijack the thread with my wimpy flag holder talk. I don't have any manly flags anyway. :)

I will get a big Gadsden flag (Don't Tread on Me), put a rubber sleeve on the shaft to protect from chafe and zip it tight to the tower...Or since I live near Boulder CO I should get a huge rainbow flag...or both! That would really throw people off!

When I bought mine EBay was the same price. It was about a month ago.

But yes, the EBay boycott is strong in this one. Lol

Does this one have a way to lock in the angle, or is it just held by friction (like the one from diy)?
On the previous one I had, if you were ever going at a marginal speed, the flag would fall... hard. I even think David had to have his welded at the angle he wanted.

I have 2 of the diy flag holders and even with 4x6 cotton flags they have never moved. Of course I cranked the Allen screw down tight! I believe these are also the exact same as the bulletlines

The Bulletlines product says it has a pin to lock in several positions. Per one of the reviews. I guess they are different in that respect.

Mine ended up stripping out, and I ended up having to go to Fastenal to find more of the Allen screws.

I still couldn't get them tight enough. Always thought I did... and then while driving WHACK as the flag would pivot and try to take out a passenger. As long as I wasn't moving, it worked great

I bought the DIY holder but it has a pretty serious design flaw. It has one bolt that that holds the holder to the tower clamp and the the holder can pivot around this bolt. I found you really can't get it tight enough to not pivot, especially cruising 25 mph or so in the boat. I had a buddy who works at a machine shop weld the flag holder to the clamp and drill and tap a hole for a grub screw so the flag pole stays in the holder. I just marked it at the angle I wanted. Works great now, no pivot and the pole stays secure and all I need is an Allen wrench to loosen t tighten the grub screw for flag removed or installation.

Another idea David, I just have a hex headed bolt in mine that tightens up against the flag pole when they are in. I stuck on of these on the head of the bolt so you can just reach up and tighten/loosen with no tools

Yes it has a pin on the tower mounted side that locks it in place at an angle

The wife just bought me a sweet US of A flag for Father's Day for our 2014 LSV (the woman is a SAINT:cool:), so I'm now in the market for a quality flag holder for our OZ HD Tower. I like the look and the quality of the Bulletlines product, but with my Moomba 300 miles away at the lake I can't measure the dimensions of my tower to order the right one.

Has anyone mounted one of these on an OZ HD tower or do you know the tower dimensions? Thanks for the help, hoping to get this all set up for July 4th!

Of all the crap and accessories that are made for boats of almost every kind why is no one making a stout built clamp style flag holder that will tote a 3'x5'? Makes no sense.

Looks great. I never thought about attaching them to the top of the tower, so often they are on the side. I like it.

I cannot tell by the picture, please be sure that your black and white (StromTrooper?) flag is flying lower than the US Flag.

What are your flag poles made from?

I was following proper flag etiquette. Yes, the flag poles are the same length, but that is acceptable because I made sure to 1) fly the US flag in the place of prominence on its own right (marching right) and also the stormtrooper flag is smaller in size than the US flag so the US flag has more area. The US flag was put up first and taken down last, as appropriate. This all corresponds with the guidance I've found on the subject.

The flag "poles" are 3/4" irrigation flexible pipe. like ABS or PVC. some kind of plastic that is pretty darn stiff, but does have a little bit of give to it. found it at Home depot. easy to drill a couple holes in for zip ties.

1st off, it is AWESOME that you looked into and followed proper flag etiquette, I complement you on that! I think alot of people do not realize the significance to this to our veterans and just patriotic people.

2nd, thanks for sharing your flag pole info. I love working with ABS/PVC products, because they are simple and do not corrode. I was unsure if they would hold up. Would hate to see the Stars and Stripes fall off into the lake.

Excellent work - thanks for sharing!

+1 on the Krypt wake tower flag holder. I installed this weekend and flew the ol' Stars & Stripes all weekend for skiing, surfing, AND cocktail cruising! Great product, looks like an OEM piece and is solid as a flag base

Well, I at least try.

I am really liking flying them from the highest point like they are. there's enough separation that the two flags really don't interfere with each other. and enough height on the flag pole "tube" that they can't disturb people in the boat, even if they're standing up. And I would be shocked if the poles ever failed. These ones I think are irrigation risers and are pretty thick walled. I drove with them at 25+ and they were just fine. I put some duct tape around the bottom of the pole to widen them so they were a better fit in the holder tube. I would imagine that thicker tube (1" probably?) would be a better application. I also put a plastic spacer around the bottom bolt so there was more surface area for the bolt that acts as the bottom stopper for the pole.

I am a tiny bit disappointed that one of the holders doesn't have the set pin's hole drilled exactly centered so that when tightened down the one holder is just a TINY bit off plumb.

But overall I'm pretty happy. Yeah, I could have made something home brew, but it would have been ghetto and this is very legit. Solid and quite presentable.
