I've got a Porter dual action polisher. What cleaning products and which pads would you guys recommend to give my boat a good going over before the season? I looked at the Boat Candy stuff but I'm not sure what I really need.

This thread has some info on that topic. I'm sure others will chime in.

I used the Meguires Amazon 3-pack of oxidation remover, high polish, and wax this season on my black boat and I love the results. I applied two coats of wax just cause my boat sits in water for 6 months so we'll see how the wax holds up. I had removed the decals on the boat and waterspots that had been on her for probably years and they all came out. Very pleased and for $35 a lot better priced than the 3M components.

What pads did you use?

Ditto on the Mequiar's. Use it every year at the start of the season.

For the oxidation I used orange cutting pads from harbor freight, blue pads for the polish and then their black finishing pad for the first coat of wax then I did a hand wax after that for good measure. For me it was about 2 pads for the boat for the oxidation remover and I think just one for the polish and wax but this was my first time ever using a buffer so a more experienced person might be able to use only one for the cutting? Microfiber towels to remove the oxidation and polish then terry towels for the wax.
