Hello All, I am new to the surfing game and newer boats for that matter. I have a 2015 Mojo Surf Edition. I'm looking to put 1100's in the rear. Does anyone who has a 15'Mojo have 1100's, and if so what brand, where did you get them, did they fit or were there mods? Any help for this extremely green amature would be greatly appreciated. This is also my first post so sorry if it is covered somewhere else.

Call Wakemakers. Tell them what ya got & what ya want. They will take great care of you.

Double check your prop and make sure it will push all the weight you plan to run.

Do what wolfeman says. Wakemakers will make sure your prop, ballast, and everything else is right.

With the surf edition, your prop is fine (unless you're at a high altitude) and you're really just down to deciding on fly high 1,100's, sumo 900's or wakemaker' bags.

I have fly high 1100's in my 15 mojo and it does just fine. No mods and huge improvement.

@Bama - do you have bowing issues with your engine panels? I just have the 900s and mine are getting pretty bad. Went to order the WM bracing kit and they are backordered. Would love to move up to the 1100s at some point.

do you have a photo of the full ballast bags? i wonder how much space you have left. i am also thinking about upgrading to 1100's on my 2016 mojo

I'd like to see this also. I have measure the lockers and don't understand how guys are fitting these and actually getting them full.

Not sure on the bowing issues, I'm sure it bows some. I know the 1100's fill up the locker but the door stays shut unlike my old lsv.

I called up WM yesterday and they said that the Mojo will handle a 1280 bag. I told him with the 900s it bows and I've heard that the 1100s are the max. He said no ... the 1280s will work.

Anyone have 1280s in?!?!

I took the carpeted panel off the front of my rear lockers to allow the 1100s to fill up more

I called WM also. The guy on chat told me 1280's. When I spoke to someone he recommended 1100's and the panel savers to stop the bowing. I specifically asked again about the 1280's, he said stick with the 1100's. I went with WM 1100's and got the panel savers. He said this should make a huge difference! We will see soon.

What dimensions are the 1280s?

I was used to the 1100s "for real" fitting in the 24. I think yall are exaggerating them "fitting" in these new boats.

I noticed last ride that my panels were bowing hard with the 1100s, I will either be designing or buying something as it was a lot of pressure

The WM 1140's are 45"L, 25"W, 25"H. They were supposedly designed specifically to fit in the rear lockers of the new boats. I am hoping that is the case but got the panel savers just to be safe.

KG's Supra24

The 1140's you list are 1" wider than the 1100's so I'd think the panel savers are likely to be doing some work.

Are the wakemakers bags made of thinner material? Because math tells me that 50x24x24 (1100 lb bag) is larger than 45x25x25 which they have listed as 1140 .....

Are the rear lockers on the 2015+ Mojos a bit bigger than the 14s? Even my 900s are bowing the panels really bad.

I am a total DIY guy and I just went with the Wakemakers panel reinforcement kits because they aren't that much more than me getting it all myself. I have them on my XLV. they're great. before my panels were bowing enough to hit the big crossmember tube of the exhaust.

What I am thinking is to run a piece horizontal completely across and run some bolts with wing nuts through the more structural part of the locker and not just the panel itself. I feel like that's a lot of stress pressing against the latches on the panel. I get those braces stiffen the panels but in my mind I still see all the pressure from the bags against them.

I totally agree. I think the weak link is the thin plastic latches, that will dry and break someday. A bowing panel is bad but its not gonna snap before the latches. Something to help out the latches would be more useful. I like your idea of running it across the middle and securing at the ends with some kind of quick removal like a wing nut. Maybe put a U at the ends in a piece of angle iron/aluminum/SS where it mounts that would allow to loosen the wing nut and slide out the support beam. Is there anywhere to mount the end of the beam bow to stern of the panel? Need to look in the engine compartment again.

It is going to take some planning. I just looked and to do the wing nut solution could take some creativity. This weekends weather is supposed to be shit so I'll likely be messing with it then. I'll post pics if I can make something happen

Why would the plastic latches be an issue? they are there to release the panels to fold OUTWARD. so when the bags are full, the latches are doing nothing. the HDPE panel is pressing on the top against the big stout aluminum angle iron that's the frame of the engine compartment.

If anything, there could be stress on the hinges.

But really, I think you guys are going to lengths to address over-solving the problem. The wakemakers kit fixes the bowing of the panels. I have yet to hear of anyone having anything else (hinges, latches, etc) be a problem. And the bowing of the panels in my case was concerning only because they were actually pushing into the engine compartment.

Before spending a ton of time/effort on overengineering a solution, make sure that that level of problem really exists.

04-26-2016, 03:29 PM
Doh! I guess I should look better. I was thinking they had the latches on the engine side (which would be dumb). I was looking at a photo the wrong way. The bars that Wakemakers sell would work for $30 ea.. Don't need to engineer something, I do that all day. The panel savers are on backorder now...

I ordered my panel savers Saturday. It said they were back ordered, however they will be delivered tomorrow. I ordered mine online thinking I would at least get my name in the pool for when they get them re-stocked, But they actually just showed up while I was posting this!

I will say that if the 1280's are customs from wakemakers for the Mojo lockers then it's no brainer. I have custom sacks in my boat from WM and the fit is awesome compared to off the shelf bags. If they say they were made for the Mojo I would not hesitate

I have a 15 LSV, which has the same rear setup as the mojo, and I needed the panel savers all over the place. Actually, I ended up buying 4 kits, and putting 2 on each side, including on the parts of the panels that aren't designed to be removed. One brace on each of those plus 4 on the removable part. Plus I went to Lowes and bought aluminum angle iron to reinforce the plastic u channel on the bottom because no matter how much you brace it, it'll still flex a little and blow out of the 1/2 channel into the engine. That was my biggest issue with the whole setup. Now it's tight, clean, and doesn't push the plug wires anymore.

The new Mojo compartment dimensions are

width near transom 22.5
width near front 26.5
length at top 32
length of compartment 41.5
length to rear seat 47
floor to vent 19
floor to top of panel opening 21.5
floor to top of compartment 31

Not sure how these 1100+ bags are getting "full"

Ah, so it's different on the newer boats. my panels aren't in channel at the bottom. they have hinges screwed directly into them, and on the ones that don't fold, they have an angle bracket screwing directly into the panel and the floor.

^^ this is exactly what is happening with my 14 Mojo. The bottom channel is all bowed out of shape. Will more than likely need to replace the entire channel like you did

I had the same issue with the plastic channel falling apart. I went to Lowes and got a couple of aluminum channels and completely replaced the plastic channels. The panel fits perfectly into the aluminum channel. Take the panel with you and make sure you get the right size.
