Ya, it seems they're impossible to thread out when you actually want to take them out! Haha. I've been too busy enjoying the lake to even check. I don't know if we need a specialized glue or if some kind of plumbers adhesive would work. I think wakemakers would probably be a good place to start.

Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk

So I called Wakemakers this morning to ask the question about glue for securing the fittings in our bags. They told me that while they don't use any glue on any of the bags they sell, they suggested using an "all purpose PVC cement" as the best solution. Seems logical, so I guess I'll have to head to Home Depot this week before we head back up to the Lake...

Hello fellow Moomba Craz users & operators,

I've been surfing the Craz for almost two months now and have no complaints. The boat generates a magnitude amount of push (Port side going 10.4 plate @75%), how ever I lack height. The wave is extremely long having loads of push; I can go back 20 feet and ride in comfortably with no excessive pumping needed. Reading this tread made me realized that I have to do one thing -- Add more weight! If you look in the picture, you can see that the wake is extremely long, but there is no height to it. (Guy that is riding is 5'10" ) What is the greatest amount of weight that anyone has put in their rear lockers on a Moomba Craz? 900 pounds seems to be the greatest, but has anyone tried to use 1100 pound bags in the the back? If so, what type of bags, and are they compatible with the plug and play system.

My boat has 2500 pounds of ballast
750's in the rear's
500 hard tank
500 extra in bow

http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w583/nick232132/IMG_2350_zpsrnbj7vnz.jpg

Thanks for the help!
You've been misinformed. The boat actually has 650 rears and 700 hard tank. I think there was some confusion at the dealer level and a number of us were told the same thing as you, but found that information to be incorrect.

Mine started doing it on the regular side, goofy worked great. Turning the surf switch on and off did nothing. eventually both side did it and it got worse and worse. At the dealer now. I will be out on the lake this weekend and update if it got fixed or not. I won't be a happy camper is this is a everyday occurrence. I would think it's just a board or lose connection issue. the cruise system is tied in and any issue with that could cause the system to think boat stopped and it would reset.

From another thread on this Forum:

"We are having the exact same issue ... turns out they actuators are faulty. I figured it out when I put it on the lift and cycled through the various %'s. It would say that it was at 30-40% engaged but the plate was fully engaged. Then when backing it off it would say 60-70% and it would be 0%.

They are replacing them on Tuesday so we will see.

The wave is really inconsistent from rider to rider even run to run. Sometimes it would look amazing ... then 5 mins later it would be shit."

Maybe the answer will be found. An intermittent trouble is a freaking nightmare! Especially when you are 3 hours from the dealer and they are a couple weeks back logged. Keeping my fingers X'd.

The last trip out we just tubed and didn't fill the ballast or take any rollers over the bow. It had a little over an inch of water. My other concern is the bilge pump and why it doesn't kick on automatically? When we did take a couple large rollers over the bow (second time out)we had at least 4 inches or enough to cover the top of the T handle on the plug. When I flipped the bilge to manual it pumped it out. I am taking it out tomorrow and plan on pulling the transmission cover and really looking around the engine compartment. My Yamaha was bone dry every time. Thanks for your help!

I'm starting to think this is expected with V-drives. My Mojo sometimes has water to the top of t handle also. My buddies MC pumps out water periodically too. I am not worried but will monitor it. Maybe its not entirely possible to seal the shaft exit through the hull completely and some water will come in regardless.

mattsask
07-11-2016, 09:58 PM
I think you're over thinking it. Seems to me the bilge pump is just mounted in a crappy spot. It doesn't seem to be mounted at the very lowest point of the hull, so the float doesn't seem to work on the bilge as it should. Sometimes when I've got water to the top of the t-handle and I come off the throttle , I notice the bilge switch light up to indicate that it's pumping in auto.

OK I'm going to be purchasing the 1100 pound bags from wake makers. How important, though, is it to have the panels dividers? How much pressure or strain does it actually put onto the divider between the engine and that cubby. Also, I mean the surf tab at 75 I only use the middle/Altitude deployed at 5-10%. Does anybody have pictures of their 1100 pound bags filled up all the way?

Thanks for the fast replies!

1100 pound bags filled up all the way
I went with 820's for the fact to have a little more room in the locker for wet jackets and towels while filled. Surf on my Craz was pretty damn good with the weight. Also the panel saver kit is a must IMO...

Wow I thought the 1100s would take up more room. It doesn't look that much different than the 850s. Looks like I will be ordering 1100s and a new prop!

Haven't looked at the actual dimensions but from pictures I would say they are longer and maybe an inch or two taller. They extend under the seats some.

I have been having an issue with my wake plate getting stuck in the down position as well. I have to turn the boat off, then back one and wait for the plates to cycle. Then I can start the engine and it usually works. This has been happening once or twice every trip out now. It's really annoying for surfing. My boat was at the dealer for a break in service and they spoke with SC and did some kind of reset and software update. It didn't work the plate is still weird.

Is anyone using a fresh air exhaust on their craz? I am thinking about ordering one, but wanted to know how they perform on the craz.

Thanks,

Flick the switch for your surf tabs to neutral, then back to the side you're surfing. It will set the trim tab back to 50% and you can adjust from there. You can do this without stopping. I've had the same problem since day 1 and that seems to be the only fix. Like you, my dealer has no solution.

Pros- greatly improved wave.
- more fun on the water.

Cons- slightly less storage space in rear compartments.
Slight increase in rpm's and fuel consumption.

Put the bags in. The boat was built to handle it, and you didn't buy a wake boat to conserve fuel.

Of the 85 hours I have on my craz, 65 of them have been with the 1100s and I am very happy with them. You really don't have much storage on top of the stock bags anyways but remember you don't have to fill the 1100s all the way up anyways, thats just capacity (but why wouldn't you??). Go for it and have fun!

Yep. Wish I would have seen this last week. I was trying to diagnose the issue of a unresponsive wake plate while surfing on the wave holding onto the rope. lol Switching the surf system off waiting a couple seconds then back to your surf side fixes the WP. Its dumb. Happened 2 times last weekend. Hope they fix this issue.

Boat does alright with the oj 945 for surfing. But if you want to get on plane with full ballast and crew you will probably want the acme 2079. In my opinion, the boat would get on plane a lot better if the damn wake plate didn't retract to 50% over time you hit 15 mph. The bow rise is ridiculous when you slam the throttle and the plate goes to 50% by itself. Also makes it impossible to get past 15mph without dumping some ballast.

If I've got the plate set 100%down leave the damn thing there! These excessive gadgets have been driving me nuts. I couldn't imagine having a touch screen.....

I am with you! I just about get to plane and then the darn WP moves to 50% and I slow back down. There is not a way to hold it down or even react and press down as soon as it starts to move. They need to change the speed or give the option to turn it off. Super dumb "smart" option I think.

Unfortunately the OJ 945 is the "upgraded" prop. Mine has the standard prop which I think is 1425 or something like that. Also my wake plate also goes to 50% the first time but once I change it and the cruise is set it always returns back to my setting. If I turn the cruise off it returns back to 50%.

Unfortunatly, I decided to send back the bags because I checked the warrenty and it stated that if I modified the boat it would void it. What a shame! I was really looking forward to installing these things, but I'm not going to be voiding any warrentys. I should have read up on this before I pulled the trigger amd got them.

X2. Hell, my dealer is who pushed me to get the 1100s. It's a surf boat, needs weight. I just wouldn't put the 16 capacity people with it haha

OK, possible stupid question here. First time surf boater. Have a '16 Craz with 400 engine, standard prop, running boat at 3260 ft elevation. Yesterday with 6 adults, 2 kids on boat and full ballast port and center, 3/4 starboard. Wave was great but engine had trouble achieving and maintaining 10.8 mph? Wondering if I am over doing the ballast or should consider the upgraded prop for " high altitude" or should I CUT DOWN TO 3/4 ballast or less? Apprecate any help. Thanks!

My thoughts given your situation would be to definitely get the Acme 2079.

There is a sticky thread on here somewhere that tells you what to look for to make sure you aren't under propped.

NEVER cut down on ballast! Lol. I am running about 4k+ just in ballast in my craze at 6k elevation and the acme 2419 prop and am very happy! A little extra nose weight can also help too. It will make it longer and help you get more manageable speeds.

I'm about helping to sell the shop boats and what ever he wants me to take I will. Did 2 Craz and 2 Supra's this season! Pros and cons of both that I really liked. We got something worked out for next season so I'm sure I will be all over the place with different boats again. Just turned in the Supra SC550 today, not one lead on selling that boat for the price. Still a $95k boat but for what he had was well worth it. Here's to next season and a fun time of riding and demoing boats for the public. LOVE the Craz by the way, just need a 575 Raptor options

Stole this from the wake surfing thread... I've seen the factory specs and they come in with the IBS at 500, and it fills till it pops the seats up. Where is people getting this 750 bag and have room to fill it 90%? Same bag was in the Supra's that I had and also rated at 500 from the factory.
