I'm going to say he wants to redo the bunks, the material is coming off the bottom.

Thank y'all... Lol yea I went in and re-stapled the carpet under the bunks. For some reason all of them decided to let go. I also had to drill some new holes and secure the carpeted boards that line the wheel wells since they were falling down a little, hence the drill bits.

Now I just need some new grip tape stickers for the fenders, those look like crap.

Thanks! I made this boat my life's mission to not have any white on it. I went as dark as I could with still having it be loud with the green. The down side, the dark burns your ASS in the summer haha! We keep towels down which keeps it clean too so it's all good.
Graphics are not factory, no. I have a vinyl cutter and really enjoy using it. I still haven't figured out my theme yet but it'll surely be wrapped out before summer. Toying with pirate theme :)

Aiden is 8. This is his second season riding. He seems to really enjoy it. Yesterday he pulled a couple surface 180's to switch and back to Reg. He also did a couple really good ollies over markers on the course. He is progressing well.

Never made it out over the weekend... Best laid plans right?!? Forgot Saturday was the first weekend for baseball and volleyball for my wife's 2 kiddos. Finished up around 1430, and had some time so I grabbed my brother and we installed my new white REV410.
And before anyone says anything about it being upside down on top of the tower and looking goofy, I know... Lmao but headroom in the back of the boat is way more important to us since we're all fall in my family. Even my wife is 6'...
Sorry the pic kinda sucks, by the time I got the tools put away the sun was about gone. Oh and hats when I realized my driveway lights all burned out at the same time for some reason... Great weekend! Lol

Yessir, those are home-built flad holders. The clamps are from DIYwake.com, the rest was built. The 3x5 flags don't even budge them going across the water

You might check out the phantom 3. Mine is the advanced so it just has the 1080 camera but since the 4 came out I think you can get the Phantom 3 Pro with a 4k camera for around $750 and it is still very capable. I got mine before the 4 came out so I haven't looked to closely at it but I think the main upgrade is obstacle avoidance detection and maybe a slightly better battery. Sounds cool but once you get used to flying I am not sure you really need the obstacle avoidance, especially not out over the water.

The standard is under $500

cpropes2005
04-07-2016, 02:54 PM
I would spend the extra money for the advanced over the standard just because of the "light bridge" technology they use to stream the live video. The standard just uses wifi so the range is pretty limited. I had a gen 1 phantom with a gopro that used wifi for the uplink and it was pretty annoying when you would fly more than 30 ft away and the video stream would drop out. With lightbridge I get uncomfortable with how far away it is before the video feed drops out.

It looks like on amazon the pro is $835 and the advanced is $721. As far as I could tell the only upgrade on the pro was the 4k camera which wasnt a big deal for me.

blackcup
04-07-2016, 04:39 PM
Yeah I bought the P3 Standard about 2 weeks before the 4 came out. Paid $489 @ Best Buy. I went as cheap as possible because I wanted it for out on the water and fully expect it to take a drink by the end of the summer. Wasting $500 seemed better than $800. In retrospect I should have went with the Advanced because I am using it a lot more than I thought. But I'm stuck with it now. Mine is a little laggy with the wifi on the screen ... wish I had lightbridge.

Anyone who has/uses a drone you should download Vertical Studio. It's a nice little app that has some functions that the DJI app doesnt.

Our boat is stored in Havasu. It's about 2 1/2hrs away w/ no traffic. There is Lake Elsinore whit is a $hit hold and about 1 1/2 away. We like Havasu though!

I wouldn't way you're short a flagger, it looks like you have a "short flagger" right there. We've had kids flaggging for us at 4 to 5 years old. No minimum flagger age in WA.

Fox news (channel 12 Portland) was out at the boat launch yesterday and we made it on the news. They were doing a segment about the beautiful weather and boating. (and the fact that the water's still in the 50's).

Colorado does. I think on despreate days i will use her but being early season launch just checking systems id rather not risk it. I spoke to a ranger at the boat show and he said they dont have any formal "ages" but she was with us and he said he wouldnt even give a warning for a flagger that young, that he would just write it up. She is 4 and he said he wanted to see at least 6yo. I would probably have a case to fight but it needs to be me feeling the fight is worth it :)

I love blue. so having blue oakleys was something I was drawn to just as much as having the black and blue XLV. One of the most important reasons I pulled the trigger on the XLV was color.

Yeah, you definitely pulled the trigger on the wheels first (although I was actually thinking about them before). You getting yours certainly pushed me over the edge to throw down and get mine. I ended up likewise getting them from America's tire. They were actually a little more expensive than had I got them from trailer-wheels.com and had them installed at the 'russian tire market' next to walmart; but having it all happen in one location proved pretty convenient, and paying about $40 more total wasn't the end of the world.

I guess because of the way the hubs stick out, they pop the center caps off the little hub cover that they're supposed to mount on. I would imagine that i could run some spacers on my wheels to push the wheels out farther and then have the hubs able to be covered with the caps. But I'm not sure I really want to do that. The tires seem to tuck nicely under the fenders at compression and I wouldn't want to put myself into a position where the tires rubbed because I messed with the offset. If you figure out a way to get the caps to mount, let me know.

How did you set up the boat in terms of Port/Starboard fill %, IBS fill and Flow plate setting? I'd love to replicate your wave!

Thanks I appreciate it!

Port side I ran 80% surf 40% non-surf, flow plate first notch, wake plate all the way nose down.

Starboard I ran 90 surf 30 non surf, flow plate first notch, wake plate nose all the way down.

I played in increments of 10% and it seemed to be the cleanest around those settings. Being the batteries, stereo, etc. are on port side, made it easier to offset weight and not fill as much.

Now this is all tested with a empty boat, aside from me and my 150# buddy. So as people get on I will be able to fill less or change settings. I'm the sure the wave can be much bigger as I start to load with human ballasts.

Wave is much taller than pics make it look. I'm 6'4 and it appears to be close to waist height on me and tallest point.

Yeah. Looks like fun, but as a home owner I would be upset too if they left a bunch of trash on the beach, in the water and floating tootsie rolls . Need to have it patrolled for safety reasons as well. Doesn't really look like a navigation hazard as the sand really shouldn't be used for navigation channels as it's very shallow looking.

One thing is for sure if somebody is having fun there are people out there willing to complain and press charges to ensure that they can't do it anymore. Welcome to the new America!!

I can see both sides of the issue. But seems the norm if you don't like something or agree with it then press charges/pass laws to forbid it.

The rings around the subs are translucent tubing with thin LED strips inside them. And then there's ebay angel eyes on the inside of the speaker grills to light up the cones. I do need to figure out something that will get rid of the ugly electrical tape though on the rings.

I'm sure I'll do something like that. the wires come out where the two ends of the tubes come together, so more of a stretchy vinyl tape would be good I'd think.

beautiful. nothing a good drysuit (or a 4/3 wetsuit) wouldn't remedy though.

Yeah I'm gonna have to invest in one ... it is killing me seeing the water like this and not getting to ride. Cooler temps just rolled in for the rest of the week so maybe next weekend.

Yeah, for anything mid 50's and below, I wear the drysuit. It's just awesome when the water's that cold to be able to layer and stay super comfy. and best of all to get back in the boat and be dry. Some of the coldest I've been was being in the boat AFTER getting out of my wetsuit. My wife and I each got our drysuits on the wakemakers black Friday 20% off sale. But even so, getting 10% off wakemakers is typically the best deal (or Active Watersports too sometimes).

A good 4/3 wetsuit is a lot cheaper and will be fine with the water in the 50's. I just like being spoiled.

Saturday we took the boat out and brought along the camping chairs/tables/bbq. anchored along a sandy shore and enjoyed the day. I forgot my foot brace that I get wet, so we ferried me and the gear on a tube to the shore. Worked great.

It's in the Indmar manual Section 4, Break in 4-3
1. First hour do not exceed 2000 RPM, vary RPM continuous
2. Second hour do not exceed 3000 RPM, vary RPM regularly
3. Next seven hours do not exceed 4000 RPM, vary RPM regularly
After the first ten hours but before 20 hours of operation, take your boat to the dealer for it's first engine and transmission oil and filter change and engine check up.

Edit:
Keep an eye on your fluids, this is the first engine that hasn't burned any oil during the break in. My last boat went through about 2 quarts for total break in.

Oh in that case im fine. It had .75 hours when i did my first test ride and the next hour and a half was just goofing around. I dont think to this day with 40 hours on it ive hit 4k rpms. 10.3mph doesnt get that high :)

Well, we got everything done and the 3 re-covered seats back. The boys got her all washed and waxed. Went over to our local crappy lake for the spring test run but could not get to the ramp. The water was so high the tailpipe on the Suburban was under water before we even reached the ramp backing up. A few guys with lighter boats were kicking them off the trailer and heading out. We went home and sat by the pool. Give it a shot next week I guess but there is supposed to be rain from now thru early Friday and I have to travel next week.

Thanks! It was so fun. The wake was a bit scary to me for the first time, felt like I was gonna run into the boat with just a little lean forward. I should have been inward more on the steep stuff. I guess that's how he chose to do them. He has 8 of the Exile XM9's on his boat. There were a lot of big stereos out. I didn't get a pic of the SE450 that came later with 6 REV10's.

Well, odds are that I only need my ONE, my wife! But you bet I'll fill the rest of the boat with her cute friends! No reason to have the "sausage-setter".

We had a blast. (well until we had competing stereos. that was weaksauce). Me and the boat next to me were linked (my HLCD Kicker 6pack, and another boat with a pair of Rev10's). We were having a blast. the boat next to me with the 8 Exile XM9's was fine with our music and had his system off (I forgot my 3.5mm extension cord). Then a big supra 450 tied up on the other side of him with 6 rev10's at full tilt. Needless to say, I could hear his music in the background of ours. I really think if you're gonna join a tie-up, that you should either link music or turn yours off. Just sayin.

I typically have a 5m 3.5mm cable on my boat, but when I dewinterized, it didn't make it back into the glove box. He wasn't directly next to me, but was 2 boats away so my cable wouldn't have reached anyway. I'm pretty sure though that he had a WS420sq given that he was running Rev10's. And I know that I have the 420sq and the boat I was running off of had a 420 (and he even had some splitters and various adapters too).

Somehow I don't think he was all that interested in plugging into our music... At least there was one boat between us so I didn't get totally drowned out. (although the girls on my sundeck could only hear my music, so maybe it's just that I was in front of my tower speakers that made it so I could hear his a little in the background?)

Who knows. Since he was not right next to me, I didn't go the 2 boats over and talk with him at all because I am in my foot brace and I didn't think it'd be very respectful to be trying to crawl over someone else's vinyl and gunwales wearing my big foot brace.

Trayson I hope I don't sound stupid but what do you run/use to link up with buddy I would assume that you link stereos and both play same songs on more than one boat ?????

No problem. So, there are a handful of "zone control/EQ" units on the market. The one I use is the Wetsounds 420sq. One of the features on it is a 3.5mm "auxillary output". So on my zone controller, I have both a 3.5mm aux in as well as out. My Zone controller is kind of the heart of my system as it's the central unit that sends all the inputs to the amps and speakers.

So, I can either be the one to send music or receive. If I want to send music, then I plug my 5 meter 3.5mm Male to Female extension cord into the OUT of my 420sq. The boat next to me would then have a female 3.5mm plug that is my music signal. pretty much everyone has the ability to take a male 3.5mm plug and put it in my extension cord (basically pretend like the female on my cord was the female of your phone playing music. Your system is playing my source just as if you were playing off my phone directly.)

If I want to receive music, then one of two things has to happen: if they have a ws420 then they'll output their signal from their unit to me. If they don't have a WS420, then another method would be to have a 3.5mm "y" splitter to split the output from their source (phone or whatever) and send it to me. I don't do tie ups very often where we link music, but the times I have both of us had the same WS unit with the output. so as long as we had the extension cord we were good to go.

It's pretty slick. If I would have remembered my extension cord the other day, we could have daisy chained the signal and went from the boat to my port to me to the boat to my starboard.

That said, since it relies on an extension cord, my cable isn't long enough to go 2 boats over. I guess Wetsounds is coming out (around Memorial Day) with a wireless link product that runs on 2.4ghz (like cordless phones) that will be little wireless send/recieve units. so you wouldn't have to have 5 meter extension cords. They aren't cheap (I heard retail was going to be $149 msrp for the pair of send/receive units). and if you wanted to have more than 2 boats, you'd have to get more units. But on the flip side, the ability to coordinate ONE music source that everyone's systems could play in unison would be a VERY welcome addition I'd imagine.

Sweet looking Mojo man.

To those who are nervous about seeing it in the air like that. I can fur sure see your point. I used to be just as nervous. After drilling holes in the nose, and seeing them pull bolts out of the transom and knowing how much material is there. No fear at all unless a strap breaks LOL.

When I had my Wave Control installed they used a fork lift to pick up the back of the boat to remove blocks between the boat and trailer and honestly that was more nerve racking as the trailer wanted to tilt forward when they picked up the rear of the boat LOL.

Sharp looking boat man, I am a little partial to the grey LOL

Hitting the lake saturday morning. Here is my girl all ready to roll. I didn't go over the top led lights like you guys, I just put strips in the cup holders and under the helm and tapped off the courtesy lights. $10 upgrade that I thought turned out pretty badass and took less than an hour. If you look closely you can see the custom shallow mount sub box I made that I suspended on the wall off the floor.

I just spliced into the already existing cabin lights so they are on that switch. They draw such low power it's fine for the 6 strips I have in the boat.

We live 5 min away. We haven't done the after work ride yet but it is a possibility. Usually short a third. Need kids now! Lol. Anyway, I could see us using the lights for the days we ride till dusk. Usually have to get off early cuz of regular afternoon thunderstorms on the mountains edge. We will see. It seems so easy to add some less strips.

True that! It's a skill that is easily learned with an inboard. Just like when picking up or dropping off my trailer person I always back the boat to get on/off the platform and not the nose.

I think at our boat house we only have like 2 inches of prop to ground clearance we will pull in forward, it would probably -6 inches of clearance if we backed in lol

That's the only way it'll back, because of prop rotation. your rudder doesn't do any good in reverse. I can back in reverse (with the boat pulling to starboard) then pause and bump it forward with the wheel turned towards starboard to straighten it out, then reverse again...

But yeah, backing an inboard is an art.

kaneboats
04-26-2016, 11:26 AM
With practice, anyone can back up an inboard as long as you understand the limitations. That is until the wind starts blowing. Then you're screwed.

Yeah, all is good until even a slight breeze comes thru and undoes everything you carefully executed.

Just plan ahead. You know you can only back to one side of a dock or gas pump. You get used to the distance and the angle and it can be done successfully.
It is easier to head in knowing which direction your boat is going to turn when backing out. That dictates if you are going in bow or stern first.

That's where we normally play. Depending on level we drop in at Pilot Knolls. If the water is too low, we drop in at arrowhead. We typically stay just west of the 35 bridge, and if the wind is too much from the south we go to the dam.
