Question? What kind of wakeboard line/rope do you use? What brand and model and what are the pros and cons. Also what kind do the pros use? I know non stretch is what I need to get but being new to the boating thing and wakeboarding, I'm just trying to figure out what everyone's opinions are before I drop $150-$200 on some line.

If you are new to wakeboarding, don't worry about what the pros use. Any wakeboard line "non-stretch" on sale from a reputable company will get you through a few seasons. By then you'll know exactly what line and handle you want. Just don't use a ski rope for wakeboarding. It can be painful.

Anything like this would be fine for newbies:

May want to start keeping an eye on sites like the Evo outlet:

I like the coated one linked above.

I prefer the coated lines over the textured ones, but it's a personal preference, not a performance one.

It looked like that rope was 70 ft, meaning your length would be around 75 at max. Most lines are 80 ft. 75 could be fine, depending on the rider.

I always check out evogear.com outlet section when shopping also.

I would look into coated lines, they say their UV resistant but I've never kept a line long enough to find out. The coated lines seem to run through the hands a lot better when picking up a rider. Also seems like it tangles less then non coated.
Here's some good examples of very good ropes and handles where discount code DFTR2016 can be used to save some cash on the already discounted price.

I like the coated lines also. They are easier to handle and don't get kinked and knotted up as often. Only thing with them is you have to be careful that you don't cut the coating if you are shortening lengths. There are a few videos online that show some different ways to tie off to the tower so you won't cut the coating. I think there is one on LearnWake if you are a member.

Yes! The textured ropes send chills down my spine when it runs through my hand!

Ugh, I want that red mainline.

I would recommend a coated line for sure. All of the brands are similar and will perform well for most recreational users. I have a liquid force line that is going on 4 years of use. Ir does have some damage to the coating where we attached to the tower where there isn't a loop. Other than that, it has held up very well. Here are a few good deals.

If you are a beginner I would recommend getting a rope that has many takeoff sections and can be ridden short. It's easier to learn wake to wake at 50ft and many ropes don't offer that.

I like the coated line as many others. for me a huge thing is making sure that the line FLOATS. Yeah, all the handles will float, but when you'd sitting in the middle of the lake for a few minutes and your line sinks, it loves to get under your boat. Huge hassle.

Be careful. I ordered a line from the Evo outlet that I assumed would float because the current model of that line is advertised as floating, but it didn't. I literally used it once and sold it on craigslist.

This is what I ended up with: http://www.wakehouse.com/products/hyperlite-team-handle-w-x-line-wakeboard-rope-package.html?dfw_tracker=10071-4452-0002&gclid=CjwKEAjww9O3BRDp1tq0jIP023YSJAB0-j1Sf_0NHm9H2J8fRWFtaapp_KuGpRhFWZ6Q1y3bsh7W9xoCt2T w_wcB It was $100 for the line and handle. I think it'll be great. The handle padding is pretty soft, so I think that will be nice.

And Dusty and KG, they have RED. Just sayin'.

I was told the red line only comes in the Straight Line Combo BUT I don't think it's coated. I'm heading down there to check out the new boat and I'll try and take a peak on any red main lines.

I agree with those above. I keep 3 ropes on board and have become very partial to the coated dyneema ropes. I have 2 ronix lines and an accurate line. I think you're pretty safe with most your bigger names like straightline, ronix, accurate/Hyperlite, etc. You just need to make sure they are no-stretch. Some will come as a one piece line with rope and others have sections and you can swap the handle as you want. I advise the one where you can swap out since the handles tend to wear out before the lines do. Ronix also makes some cool model handles like the "one" where you can swap grips. I had 3 grips for my last handle and it was great (until my dipshit friend ran over the line and ruined my entire setup....but that's a whole different story haha).

Did you get one?

Tweak
04-21-2016, 01:46 AM
No not yet. I was going to buy one when I picked up my boat last sat but for some reason after I called a month ahead to pick it up then a week before. Both times they said it would be ready. Well it was not ready... So the owner said he "will make it right" so I didn't want to buy one if he's going to give me one for free. So I'll have to wait for this Saturday to get the boat delivered and see what he's going to give me for his unprofessionalism and making me miss the first 86 degree weekend we had this year :-/ he knew I was pissed beyond belief... Still am.

Crazy weather at that location. The dealer had to wait to get boats out because of the cold snap we had a few weeks ago.

They said they had no record of me calling and telling them when I was picking it up. Even though they took down my name, number, and what kind of boat and what day I was going to pick it up. But I hope Saturday is going to be nice out. Also hope they throw in a surf board and rope. Wakeboard line maybe upgraded tower speakers or a duel battery or underwater lights. lol wishful thinking. They will prob give me some cheap junk and act like its a big deal.

I'd guess some $ off your next service. That way you have to come back if you want to "get" something from them. Maybe they'll throw something useful in for you...good luck and hopefully you get on the water soon!

Seems about normal for them. I have not been happy with the service I have had so far but not ready to blast them yet. If it does come to it they will not be a to 100 dealer/service shop. What realy is shitty is the 99 mile trip thru chicago traffic, Tweak has to be 75 miles, j7st to have them not do the warranty work right the first time. Im stopping now. More may come
