That's like seeing a woman in a bikini with her face covered up. She looks pretty decent, you know its a woman, but you just can't get 100% excited with that little bit of info.

Went by the dealership ... it's in! But still wrapped up. I've got my fingers crossed the boat is better than the trailer

Speakers, amps, lol

KG I wouldn't worry about that trailer, but I think it looks good.

Let's unwrap that thing and see it!!

What's the Cat5 for?

Speaker grills were scuffed and automotive trim paint used. WS grills have a stainless steel inlay making it a little difficult ... I'm unsure how it will hold up over time.

Mike, all the meat is boxed up! It's a lot of wetsounds filet ;). On the trailer, go back to your bikini reference ... may look good from far away but up close Im not digging her curves.

Cat5 is for the music modem. Plugged in for faster streaming speeds

I went down to the dealership after hours. Likely won't see it until late in the week.

KG's Supra24

David, the grills look great right now. I do worry about it chipping/peeling off in the future.

Guess this thread is a combo new boat/audio thread. The "definitely coming off" comment was in reference to the wonderful artwork one of boatmates interns (apparently) put on my trailer ....

I had emailed some pics to Mike

mmandley
03-16-2016, 11:19 AM
Yes it seems all the Pin Striping they do on the trailers looks bad to me. its not even thickness, not smooth curves and the lines not stay parallel. I know on my 08 I hated it up close as well. The good thing is for those that aren't so picky being painted means they never wear off LOL.

The thing is its more Boatmate then SC doing it I bet.

I personally am not a Fan of Boatmate, i think their customer service needs work. I had blistering paint and cracks in the pain all over my 08 trailer less then a year after I bought it, they wouldn't warranty anything after a year, they said a year from the trailers build date, not a year from purchase.

They wouldn't even sent touch up paint.

Not sure what you are doing with the holes, but plastic desk rings that computer cables go thru, clean them up nicely. Find a ring that matches the hole.

Just ran across one of my stinger voltage read outs, going to copy this on my 6vs as well.

My distribution block shows voltage but only every so often, power up, power down, congress on every so many minutes I think but it's hard to see when everyone's gear is in the boat.

dusty2221
03-28-2016, 09:21 AM
Left is batt bank 1, which is crank and right is batt bank 2, which is stereo. With the switch in position 1 or 2 he will have the readout of each individual battery, when it is in 1&2 it displays the combined voltage of the banks.

CFD3Captain

So he's running a simple 1,2,1-2 switch with no ACR? That looks fantastic!

dusty2221

Yup, I know a lot like the ACR, I'm a fan of just the basic switch.

CFD3Captain

Yup, I know a lot like the ACR, I'm a fan of just the basic switch.

Thanks Dusty. I am pretty partial to that switch as well. Have had it in last two boats. This is the first boat I was considering an ACR setup. Since you have some experience running this way, do yo leave on combined (1-2) while running then switch to house battery at cove? Or battery 1 while running and 2 at anchor?

dusty2221
03-28-2016, 10:39 AM
What has worked for us, 1&2 the majority of the time on the water running, as soon as the boat stops and we hit the beach I go to 2. Depending on the amount of time spent playing music will determine if I go back to 1&2 when we pull anchor, leave it on 2, or go only to 1. Most days the voltage is high enough I go back to 1&2 but there are those days that I go to 1 and rely on shore charging to condition and bring the batteries back to life. I use this for shore charging:

KG's Supra24
03-28-2016, 10:51 AM
Dusty is running 4 6v + crank. I'm running 2 6v + crank.

I went with the same charger as dusty, but did a 40 amp instead of the 50 amp.

Thinking being ... He is running 5 amps vs my 3. He also has the added pull of the massive JL W7.

dusty2221
03-28-2016, 11:13 AM
My wiring is:

4 Leads go to the switch:
Crank batt to position 1 on the switch
Stereo Bank to position 2
Motor and accessory power from helm on the Common output

Stereo +/- distribution block runs directly to Stereo bank +/-
All audio grounds run to the same ground distro block behind amp rack
Accessory ground from helm grounded at the same batt post where distro block is
Stereo and Crank grounded to each other.

Make sense? To the best of my knowledge, this is how it should be wired when using the manual switch.

mmandley
03-28-2016, 04:44 PM
Set up sounds great.

I've been running 2 6v for 3 seasons now, going into the 4th.
First 3 seasons ruining the older AB amps never an issue.
I also do run an ACR though.

Now with my new digi amps I still have no issues, I run 4 amp.
I moved away from the switch method madly because wife got tired of switching the switch lol

viking
03-28-2016, 07:29 PM
I also run 2 6v for stereo bank. Don't think I'll ever go back to anything different.
Still running ACR as well and it works for us. ANY system that isolates the batts and is easy for the operator to understand and use is a good system imo.
It's taking shape and looking great!

dusty2221
03-29-2016, 12:11 PM
Got all of his charger wiring finished up and clean last night and got the studs mounted to the amp rack the façade will attach to. Things are starting to take shape, amp rack is ready to go into the boat into it's final home, just keeping it out until the end to make sure once it's mounted it is a 1 and done and not a "oh dang, this wire needs to be added" situation. Sometimes when progress is rolling along and things are taking shape it's a good idea to hang back and let the brain catch up and review incase anything was missed!

Thanks JM, I would love to make a switch to something like this...without a doubt. I vented about it a little last night to Ash, knowing what that one little adapter could be produced/sold for, same story with the Z5 extensions.

Also, you had asked about the heater cover, it is covering the entire hater unit. I used HDPE and aluminum L. The bottom edge has a piece of L about 6" long so the base of the piece that runs upright could be attached to, same for the top piece that connects to the carpeted side, then the top just rests on the L on the carpet side and the top of the vertical piece. Predrilled and screwed down so when it gets removed and can go right back where it came from.

My monster cargo bimini has arms just like that, but mine are actually adjustable for length. they pop into lengths inch by inch.

of course they probably wouldn't go from THAT short to the length he ended with. but even so, easy enough mod. just get a length of SS tubing and cut to length and reattach ends.

We used the t3m for single remote control of all zones. The controllers, 1 per desired zone, were t3-5a wireless rgb controller.

Controllers mounted in the gunnels, usually behind the cockpit speakers. From there, you can get to most factory zone wiring so factory dash switches can be used to power zones.

We used cat5 for the rgb runs.

On the remote, I wouldn't mind having a different model after getting the t3m. I might still order it, the T3 has the same features as the t3m, but it has solid color presets built in. Right now to select and stay on 1 solid color on the t3m you have to use the colorwheel, which can be a bit touchy in getting the exact color you are shooting for. The regular t3 has the 7 main color options built in along with the other modes so you can put each zone in an exact color. Most of the time the zones have all been on a different slow fade of some sort so it's not a big deal.

Supernight 5m 5050 rgb. 300 leds in a 5m strip. From amazon. There may be better options but these were economical and work well.

Cat 5 was an amazon order also. I think he used 500 ft between the two boats. More in the supra (4 zones) than the moomba (3 zones). 300/200 approx.

Ported boxes are past both of our knowledge. The 4" port makes the 12" woofer seem small. Also, knowing the equipment is tuned optimally is a nice piece of mind. I noticed a difference in the 10s vs my prior 10s, which were self tuned.

The inboats are wetsounds rgb in boats with led in the cone. . I did not do rings on the in boats.

The wetsounds rings are in the tower speakers. The leds were swapped out from what they sent in the box. The 6 pin connector is required for the tower clamp, if you want everything hidden and swivel/quick release.

what wires did you use and where did you get them?

Power, ground, speaker, RCA?

KG's Supra24

I used factory speaker wiring and order all other wiring (power/ground/rca) from knuconceptz. On the distribution blocks, it was tspec from amazon.

rdlangston13
05-11-2016, 11:10 AM
According to their website the 8 gauge wire is only good for 60 amps. I am running an 8 gauge wire to my distribution block that sends power to my 3 reversible ballast pumps and each pump draws 30 amps so I guess I am not running a big enough cable since 3x30 =90 amps draw when all three pumps are on. I guess I need to see if I can run 4 gauge to my ballast pump distribution block.

Could this be why whenever I turn on more than 1 pump and there is a noticeable drop in the sound the pumps make? Like with one pump, it sounds like that pump is screaming and moving fast, when I hit a 2nd pump, you can hear it come on, but it sounds like both pumps are running slower than one pump by itself and when I hit a 3rd pump on, they all 3 move so slow that it is almost silent.

That doesn't sound right Dave. The pumps don't even have that big of wire on them. I think it's a 14 gauge wire. When I installed the 3 in my LSV I used 12 wire and no issues at all.

Factory on my Mojo is 12 I think, only thing that had 8 was factory amps

Yeah I have 8 gauge going to a blue seas distribution block, and then 12 gauge that was supplied with the wakemakers kit going from the distribution block, to the switches, then from the switches to the pumps. The distribution block has a 30 amp fuse for each pump. As you turn more pumps on at the same there is a huge audible reduction in pump speed. Very noticeable. Maybe it is the type of impeller I am running? I have found that after sitting for a few weeks they have a tendency to get stuck and I have to work the switch back and for a bit to get the pump to do anything.

I think your theory sounds plausible. just because a single pump is wired with a smaller gauge doesn't mean that the gauge for the longer run to the distro block shouldn't be more. It's not like 4 gauge is THAT expensive. You've got audible hints and also you've done the math that backs it up. I'd say you've got enough "evidence" to support your theory and you know the "fix".

*** That said, I would check your stats on amp draw. I'm thinking more like 20 amps, but that they're fused with 25 to 30 amp fuses? Either way, you can certainly compute the length of your run of wire to your distro and compute the voltage drop and see if that is likely to be affecting you, even at a ~20 amp draw.

The wire run is going to be shortened when I get home. I have a bunch of extra 8 gauge coiled up because i already had my connectors on the ends and I did not have any more connectors to cut the wire and add a new connector but I have since got some in. I will be shortening it by 2/3 or so so that may help. If that doesn't work then I may look into 4 gauge going from the battery to the distribution block and possible going from the black implellers to the green ones everyone raves about.

You could also make a 2nd run of the 8 gauge to the distro.

On the remote, I wouldn't mind having a different model

Dusty do you know how long the rca cables was on kgs mojo? To be able to run from the radio to the amp.

How was the tower speaker wires run? Did all the wiring drop out on one side of the tower?

Yes, just above the factory amp rack. My boat came sans tower speakers but was wired in each factory location, which was kept in place

Sans tower speakers? I got the S bend tower without speakers. Will the tower speaker wiring be able the factory amp?

If I recall correctly, the oem tower wiring ends shortly after it comes out of the tower. It is accessed through the speakerhole/cutout above the speaker area.

Before leaving Texas, the boat was finished up at earmark marine in Plano. Joe and his crew did awesome work on a sub build and were responsible for final system tuning. They are professionals (simple as that) and I'm very impressed with the wetsounds setup. Loud and clear!
