pretty happy first ride out. boat ran great! only a small leak from the ballast water strainer filter, probably the O ring cuz where the water was coming from. but ripped a seal on the dry suit, so have to replace that soon. fortunately we still have some hard water in the mountains so i'll keep after that too.

Awesome. About one more season of looking at the carpet up in there and I'm going to replace it with some left over swamp camo hydro. Thanks for sharing!

Can't wait for the new Craz to get here and get this party started! Thinking mid April on arrival and the water should be perfect for not having a drysuit since sending mine to Oneil and told it's garbage.

Got a chance to stop by one of the many harbors around UT. Ice is almost off and let the warming begin.

Well, about a month ago I was at my friend's mountain cabin after a couple days of snowboarding. They have hardwood floors and stairs and a "no shoe" rule. I was walking down the stairs and thought I was stepping onto the ground floor when there was still another step left. I went down on the ball of my foot and twisted the foot, which ended up doing some damage to the midfoot ligament.

So I've been on crutches for over a month, and after the MRI, the orthopedic foot specialist put me in a walking boot and told me I was going to need 3 more weeks where I was not putting any weight on the bad foot. At that point, a friend let me borrow his "knee scooter" as an alternative to the crutches. I gladly accepted and that's given me a lot more mobility. Yeah, I get a lot of looks, but I'll take them when the alternative is crutches.

And since I've been dying being off the snow, I actually took a couple of adaptive lessons and did 2 days on the sit-ski/bi-ski. It's a lot harder than it looks. I never thought I'd get a rush from zipping around on the beginner slope.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PAW8QZcIOyE/VtjVPTFFvMI/AAAAAAAAbY8/Fb3HH-eV-A8/s640-Ic42/upload_-1.jpg

I'll be hoping and praying that I get cleared Tuesday to get back to more of a normal life. Sitting around and only being able to watch movies or TV Series is driving me nuts. I want to snowboard and work on more mods for the boat!!!

Next week I go in to see if I will be able to start snowboarding again.

That looks great!!! How did you get the panels out?

Jceclipse01
03-03-2016, 10:19 PM
Thanks. First I took the speakers out then put my hands up through the holes to remove the nuts from the interior above and the sides. They will be screws on each corner of the cup holders panel itself. Then after its out I made a template out of paper for the shape of the cup holder then transfer it onto the hydro turf. It's definitely harder project than one would initially think.23494

Yup, cherry creek. was a fine day out! hope you make it out. one guy was in a wet suit, he was ok, but only did one ride and was too cold. or maybe out of shape, could have been either or both.

Ok. Was toying with this Sunday but looks to be pretty windy so may hold off another week or 2 as I only have a wetsuit as well. I'm usually good above about 52 or so with it so it's almost that time. We are only surfing so there isn't a ton of time down in the water with transitions which helps a lot.

I was going to make something just like that in my new garage at the lake....how long are the dowels? and are the dowels at a 90 degree angle or do they slant up slightly? And what is the distance between the dowels?

I believe 18" long. Distance between I would have to double check, but I believe about 10-12". I use 1 1/4" hole saw attachment on my drill and just went into 2x6 at an angle. All free hand guessing but worked quite well for about $25 in material (dowels, closet rod).

I actually made a set kinda similar last November. I made individual racks so I could play with spacing a bit. I used a 45 degree elbow with pvc and drilled into 2x4's for each one. To protect the boards I used left over hydro turf on each post. Worked pretty well. Just wish I had made a few more and had less crap in my garage!http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160305/5e287d4faaaa1cb7cae50f8c1c57ba94.jpg

Glad to hear the G25 is not worth it. $160000 is insanity($185000 MSRP more insane!). The Craz is an amazing machine, no way can I believe that the G25 is so much better...$100000 better!

Anyway, off of soapbox, looks like a fun time had by all. Doing the water sport and snow sport in the same day is super fun. Did the, surf the pacific ocean and ski Tahoe thing a few years back. 7 hours of driving to do that. Cali is huge!

Josh, get a good base layer or two, and the right outerwear and the cold wont even affect you. You should get out and enjoy those slopes.

Totally agree. Yes the upfront investment is huge, but you are able to get a few years out of it all. My son, in the red coat above is on a ski team, so he has all the outerwear plus a race suit, but at 7 he can almost out ski me. Good family fun on the snow, just like good family fun on the water.

Thats my Evolution cover, I have a thread for the Swim Deck cover already. I can get you in contact with Cory who hand makes these. I have had one on each boat.

Several guys here have them and can speak to the quality.
Its a propose built Towing cover, I have towed at least 7K miles over the last 3 season in rain and shine and water never gets inside.
Mine has a few customs touches though, the white on the front, i have some embroidery on the rear for Wake Makers, Exile, plus the Evolution Logos, I also have the tower strap to lift the center up to let rain run off when parked.

They come in a couple different colors but expect to be paying 800-1000 for this type of cover.

One of the reasons that this is a fantastic forum is because it not only gives us a venue to showcase our passion for our boats, but also for the sports the boats let us do, and also for the people that share our passions. I've met a lot of cool people in person through this site and that makes it pretty special.

My wife and I are in Park City for the week, and had an opportunity to meet up with one of the local Moomba (now Supra) guys, sivs1 (aka Tracy). He met up with us Wednesday morning and guided us all around Park City Mountain Resort. He knows the mountain well and we were hitting trees and powder and trees and power and trees and power all morning long. He encouraged my wife and she was able to drop her first double black diamond runs yesterday. Great stuff!

It was great enjoying our "non boating season" sports together and meeting another forum member in person.

We went to Park City last month and had a great time. I had never been there before. It was fantastic. Really enjoyed the skiing, I'm way too old and out of shape to keep up with the kids. My sister got us hooked up at a place right at the bottom of the hill by the First Time lift. Nice to ski in and out. Also, had 2 great evenings out at Zoom and Riverhorse. Both meals were outstanding. I'm looking forward to going back.

Yes it is. Sold the Mojo last Oct and had planned to buy a 16 Mojo or Craz and start the upgrade craziness all over again. Found this 15 and almost couldn't believe the price, after the demo I bought it on the spot. At the end of the day it was almost fully upgraded, Wetsounds audio , led's everywhere, heater etc....and the price was in the same range as where I would have been on the others.
When you get down we can try to put together a small get together and get you and the Mrs some pulls. Our AO coolers will hold 84 beverages, just sayin....

All good brother, I am not biased to the brands people own. I am only biased to their waves LOL.
Yea I will let you know when I cruise that way in June and see if we can hook up, other wise I should be down permanently in July as long as all the plans lay out smoothly. Mrs would be willing if she has the ability with work, this year is ruff on her already with all the company and position change she accepted. We will get together though.

Its free, gives you auto links to use in forums, emails what ever. Also you can set up albums, upload directly from your phone with the app. I have been using it for years.

How many people actually do this on towboats? first time I've ever heard of someone doing it!

thank you guys for the upload tips, i'm gonna try that next time.

about the antifouling: the boat sits in the water from mid april till October. so it's pretty much a must do. i'd love not to do it, but there's no choice. boats in our lake without antifouling get seriously damaged after 2-3 seasons.

I get that now, I was thinking it was something with the engine.

FYI you know Moomba voids all hull warranty if the boat stays directly in the water.

almost switzerland, living in liechtenstein, which is squeezed in between austria and switzerland. the boat is in austria though. austrian part of lake constance.

didn't know that. since there's antifouling on the hull now and the boat stays in the water all season, i have to live with that. :-)
over here in europe there's almost nobody taking their boats out of the water after use. 99% leave their boats in the water during summer.

Yeah I own a full 3/2 but I didn't bring it. Air temp was high 60s and water temp was mid to low 60s I believe. If I would have had my 3/2 I would have got rode but since i didn't have my board, nor a suit it didn't seem worth it. It was cool being on a lake with 10ft or so of visibility.

I am so jealous. I went to get our Craz Saturday but the stupid weather was terrible and has been terrible in CO for a while now. I didn't want to go out with the dealer in the snow and then have to re-winterize it. I'm disappointed. We have to wait another 2 weeks to go down and try it again.

Good thing is that all the paperwork is done so we are the proud owners of a new Craz. Just don't posses it yet. We did get all the gear we need for the season as well, we are now the proud owners of a new surf board and HO slalom ski. The dealer gave use 15% off everything plus gave us a smoking deal on the ski since no one skis anymore. :) Ill add photos tomorrow... sorry. Forgot my phone today.

Took the boat out for it's first run of the year on Saturday. The water temp in the Columbia River was a bit chilly at 45, so we went to the Willamette and got the balmy 49 degree water. Air temp was in the mid to upper 50's.

Pretty excited to see the boat behind us for the first time in 4 1/2 months!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MzCQ2mERfd8/VvlMwUQAHyI/AAAAAAAAbdc/bKqDzXYb1fE9qciV9TumKREE6jF_TiyKACCo/s800-Ic42/upload_-1

I got another brace for my foot so I could get it wet. It was pretty interesting figuring out how to surf with the brace on, but after a few crashes, I got it. The brace makes it tough because it has a rockered bottom and that makes it so there's not nearly as much of a contact patch going to the board.

Even though I couldn't ride to my normal level, it sure felt good to be on the board.

Boat ran great. Stereo system cranked. No issues. And an hour after we got home, it started raining.

on Sunday, we went up to the mountain and got some fresh pow. I guess with boating on Saturday and skiing/snowboarding on Sunday, life's not too bad in the PNW.

Trayson, how far do you haul with that cover on. I have the same one for my 08LSV but have never used it while traveling.

Typically it's just 10 minutes to work, 5 minutes to the launch, and 10 minutes home. But I've actually towed 3+ hours without issue. I also have the factory Moomba Cover (that's made by great lakes boat top), and that went from Indiana to WA.

That said, I find that the snap cover does just fine for towing. I leave the tent poles in. It has Velcro to attach the cockpit cover to the bow cover. It has 3 nylon straps with snap buckles that go to the tiedown eyes and to the center handle in the stern.

I like it because it doesn't take up a lot of space. putting on the bow cover separately means you can make your boat like a closed bow if it's really cold...

It's obviously not going to keep 100% of the water out if you're driving through a rainstorm because of how it snaps on (water could go under the snaps) but I think we've went through some rain with it and been fine. Better than no cover by a TON.

Also really nice as we hitched up last night and I knew that the seats wouldn't be wet in the morning and it keeps prying eyes out of the interior of the boat.

Yeah, but look at our snow forecast. :-( Keep in mind our base areas are around 5,000 feet.

Sunny skies for "blue bird" conditions Wednesday and Thursday. Winds this morning are blowing to 45 mph at 7,000 feet on the Meadow side. I do expect light to 15 mph winds Thursday.

Warm temperatures through Friday night, including above 32 degrees at night on the upper slopes, will make for soft, sticky snow.

Good to know. I've never pulled the boat with it but might this year. Only problem I might have is I put vents in my cover. We have our new dock coming into our lake property and wanted a way to keep the air circulating when we leave it docked there. Do you think the vents would be an issue.

I have never seen water that calm! The wind blows in Texas all the time. Great pics!

You OBVIOUSLY do not know the right places to go ride.

It's my first season of boat ownership and so obviously I do not know many spot yet. But growing up here the wind blows a lot of the time. Especially in March and April.

Here are some pictures of Lake Travis outside of Austin Texas. We went there for a weekend for my buddies bachelor party and had a blast. He brought his boat along and we took a pretty lengthy tour of the lake. I didn't get too many good pictures though so I was kinda of upset about that but here is a shot of the view from the balcony of the house that we stayed out as well as the boat house from the patio.

It's was cool to see Lake Travis at full pool since it has been 50-60' low for the last 5+ years due to drought.

And here is Nolan at 6 months old on Easter Sunday at his first easter egg hunt.
