How many hours a year are you putting on your boat? I'm at 20 since Easter. Just wondering.

I had 52 hrs when I got the boat out of storage this year and Im now just about to crack 90hrs. I live 20 minutes from where I put the boat in so I get out once after work during the week and have been lucky enough to get out both Saturday and Sunday every weekend so far.

Pretty good thus far however Im sure next year will be a very different story as Im expecting my first child last week of August first week of sept. Wife is telling me it wont affect my boating too much..lol we shall see about that!

The boat will turn 2 years old in late August but I really count that is has 3 seasons on it and the hours are at 110. My first season I put 50 hours on is Sept to Nov then last year I put 40 hours on it March to Nov(I got married last year so the hours were down). So that means this year so far I have 20 hours March to July (I wish I had more we have traveled alot this year).

So about 40 to 50 hours a year is my average.

I guess I am doing really well!

I have 2004 LSV, bought is used last June with 56 hours on it. This weekend I turned 240, 70 of those are from this season.
We get out as much as we can 4 to 5 days a week, weather permitting.
We started April 9th in 50 degree water. Drysuits are AWESOME! We still wear the drysuits in the morning and evening as the river I run is will not get much above 60 degrees.
I have no doubt I will hit 150 hours this year. My all time best is 175 for a season, that will be history.

Yesterday we launched at 6:00 am and loaded at 7:00 pm (kids have summer school, DAMN)

I am looking at a new LSV in 2008 or 2009.

If anyone is interested in a drysuit let me know! You WILL extend your season by at least 2 months if you want. I don't plan on winterizing my boat until December!

P.S. Thanks to my buddy Nick who took out his lower unit last night and slept on the river I was able to get a Monday morning wakeboard set in before work!

I hope everyone is having a GREAT summer, I sometimes think it should be illegal to have as much fun as I am having this summer (some of it probally is)

I bought my first boat in January. We put it in the water at the end of Feb. I only have a wetsuit and the water was 38 deg...worth it for the first year - but I probably won't do it again.

Anyways- put close to 70 hours on it already this season. I need to change the oil again already!

I think we are in the 30-50 hour per year range. Half of the time is just me behind the boat, but am trying to change that. We now have a lake place and the boat is on the lift there. I only work 4 days in July this year so hope to get lots of stick time. Problem is you need at least two other to go with. Surprisingly that can be difficult on a weekday.

The number of hours a boat is used per year is not important. As long as you use it when you WANT to and not because you're feeling pressured to use it. Remember - you have to own your boat, don't let it own you

We are at about 50 so far into our first season. We camp most weekends with the boat and take it out Wed. nights when we can. Between the boat, the motorhome, the Expedition, and the XC90 we are averaging $200 per week in fuel. That is just about what my mortgage was on my first house. I have to say that it is worth it!!

From what Ive heard from others my season may be about to get much shorter... or at very least less frequent..

My youngest daughter (now 3) has always loved being on a boat. It always put her right to sleep. Her favorite spot is on the floor under the console. She makes a little bed with towels and goes right to sleep. She used to freak when I would get behind the boat, but now loves to watch me swerve. She also went camping for the first time when she was 10 days old. It was easier with each of my 3 kids to continue life as normal. I haven't been able to convince my wife to go for number 4, however. I have to get my baby fix by holding friends kids.

Over a 150 hours a year... Use it or lose it.. And YES gas is high... But the stress reliever the boat is... It is worth every dollar.... And the booze cruise late at night.... It is well worth the long days and high gas bills... I am only young once... And I don't want to lay in bed when I am old and say damn I wish I had used the boat more... But I live on a river... So it only takes 15 min to put the boat in.... Some say a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into and never get back... Well I love every dollar I throw in that hole.... So wake on dude and enjoy life... You only get one turn... No second pull when you eat it.

July was the "all weddings, all the time" month. 3 weekends lost to them.
But the next 7 weekends are empty.
If it gets too cold here, I'll truck to Lake Martin which stays warmer longer and then on down to Ed's neck of the woods for the long weekends.

Wolf I feel your pain about weddings "month" I have now made the announcement to all family and friends. If it falls during daylight savings time, count me out, if your feelings are hurt, then get the yellow pages out for someone to tell.

I have had my 2001 Outback for one year as of this coming Thursday, and I have put right at 100 hours on it since I bought it, which puts it right at 200 hours total. I might be able to squeeze 50 more hours out of this season, but with the days getting shorter the afterwork sessions are pretty much done, so it will probably be closer to 25 more. However, I missed out on the beginning of the season because of finishing up college and not having many friends that wakeboarded. I have since remedied these issues, and expect to put at least 150 hours on it next season, unless I end up back in grad school next fall. Its a lot of gas money, but as someone already said, you cannot put a price on the fun times had on the lake.

This months GoBoating addressed the fuel costs.
Essentially, we boaters are willing to pay almost $5 a gallon, only cut maybe 20 minutes of run time off our days (floating on the bar, anchored) at the current price of fuel. And the answer to why was the same as yours.

Delivery of the new Outback was second week in July and we've now got 50 hours on the meter. When we're up at the cottage we average 8-10 hours per weekend. It hasn't just been great for water sports, but also a good cruiser for exploring the Muskoka Lakes region. Sure, it doesn't take the open water waves like the old boat used to, but on those days, we just don't venture too far.

I just can't believe that the season is almost over. Time to go and buy a shorty...

I bought my NEW 05' Mobius LSV in november of 05, but couldn't use it until spring. I live in salem oregon and the spring/summer here is somewhat short. End of april till end of september. I currently have 146 hours on my boat. Talk about some serious use. We wakeboard and wakesurf 3-4 times a week. This boat is awesome!

well Im stuck @ 70.6 hrs, the weather has been horrible, and as of Last Wednesday a new baby so I have serious doubts that I will hit even 75 hrs this season now..
No complaints.. now the fun really begins.

We got our boat (used) for Christmas '06, we live in nth fl. my son has a wet suit, we turned 30hrs. by mid february, we live literally "on" a lake, half of our house is built out over water... I cant imagine what we will put on it thru spring and summer when waters warm, kids outa school... or what my gas bill will be! My boys gonna have to cut a lot a grass, he's got an expensive habit! :wink:
