I know it's not the best thing to get a new driver a new car, but used car prices as at an all time high. Currently Chevy is running a 24 month lease special with 10k per year for $2000 down and $80ish a month. I found one that had extra discounts for being on the lot longer than others combined with $1500 of GM credit Card money. We walked out with ZERO down $29.70 a month for 24 months. I'll be just under $700 for 2 years and won't have to worry about maintaince or it breaking down on him.

Best of all after about 10 minutes in the parking lot we hit the road with him driving the manual transmission Cruze and no whiplash. We will have 5 more months of driving together before he can take his test.

sounds like you got a good deal but not everyone will qualify for this. $1600 on the gm card and the $1500 currrent lessor rebate will be sticklers for some.
that would net the car another $129/month or so. still not a bad deal for under $150/month for a new car and 24 months should be about right to ditch it before it starts to show age :)

rented one last year. they are a decent inexpensive small car.

We got lucky the stars aligned, now the wife can stop asking me about the 10 year old 100K+ cars they are asking $4K or more for.

How does it drift? For an inexpensive car you gotta have some fringe benefits... I've always felt that a lease is kinda like a rental.

I'm not teaching him how to drift a front wheel drive car, I learned in high school myself. Wet parking lot and hand brake. In the camaro I can scare them drifting around the corners or the roundabout. The fuel mileage is the benefit, its averaged 32 mpg so far with 220 miles on it. That's with teaching him to shift.

32mpg's will be 20 once dad is out of the ride :)

Thanks for the info, couple questions on have before calling a dealer.

-So you are leasing another vehicle that is not a Chevy, right?
-How do you find out which cars have been in stock the longest, or qualify for the most discounts?
-What is the credit card rebate? Like they deposit that amount on a credit card for you?

Yes, my wife's Lexus is leased. She's never kept a car more than 3 years or 80k miles.

When searching inventory they show holiday cash icon or as the dealer.
