We run our LSV 07 in hot and salty waters, as a consequence we had to rebuild our 3 year old engine due to water in some cylinders. We already change the engine for the same reason  ... All these problems were due to very rusty vast manifolds (see attached picture). We decided to go for stainless exhausts manufactured by Hi Tek Marine located in Australia.

We are very pleased by these new manifolds, sound, weight and look wise, expecting them to last as promised.

My advise. we should for them from the beginning and mostly if you use your boat on salty water.

I would never put one of these in salt water. However, if I lived where that was the only option I would definitely opt for a closed cooling system.

closed cooling as kane suggests and a good washdown/out after each outing.
wd40 or similar have heard can do wonders when sprayed on metal to keep salt corrosion down.

Don't know if you have a product called "Salt Away" there, but it works pretty good on the outside of the engine for a rinse off. Obviously, a freshwater flush is a basic need after salt.

The cast exhausts were like the photo shows despite Salut Away, fresh water flush and spray of WD40. .. It was just to inform salt water users that might be a solution against rust.
