On boat tool bag/box?

What are the essential tools you guys bring on your boat and what are you holding them in. I went all summer with only a big screwdriver to tighten screw on my tower and to shotgun beers.

I want to be a little more prepared in case something happens and I'm stranded and I need needle nose pliers to replace a fuse and I was to lazy to make a tool bag for the boat etc. (yes that did happen this year, had to get a tow cause I blew a fuse but couldn't get my gorilla fingers around the fuse to replace.)

Anyways what are you guys packin?

Was a thread about this not to long ago. Screw driver, channel locks, leatherman, that's about it. Usually have a jump box and jumper cables in the truck.

Screw driver with changeable bits, Allen wrenches, channel locks, needle nose pliers, extra hose clamps, extra fuses, zip ties, extra drain plugs, electrical tool (cutter/stripper/clamper), wire ends and butt joints, electrical tape, small hammer all kept in a water tight ammo box.

Always have a variation of one of these tucked behind the gunwale wall on the drivers side along with safety flares, spare skier down flags, hidden set of keys, etc.

The tool I use the most is a pair of goggles & and large size pocket knife.
I'm sooo careful about those ropes but I am sure it will happen again....
It is much faster to cut a $20 tube rope than get pulled home.

This is what I carry. Easy to store and has everything you need.

I carry a spare prop. I had one anyway and got the Wake Makers "Weekend Saver" prop bag and prop wrench, nut and cotter pin. The bag will also hold other tools in it as well. I mostly use the Leatherman, knife and dive mask. I haven't had much that needed fixing underneath but sometimes you want to see if something happened down there.
First Aid kit has also come in handy a time or two.

I have this exact kit that I bought for the boat. like $30 at harbor freight. also have some extra ballast fittings, zip ties, electrical tape, and yes dive mask and floating knife.

If you carry a spare prop then you will need the puller and a spare nut, washer and pin. I keep my spare impeller on the boat. Tie wraps are always good to have. First aid kit.

I can't even fathom trying to change a prop in the water. I'd head to the trailer and do it there.

Yes, a boat launch is the first choice but I may be 30 miles from a boat launch and condition of the prop and weather conditions may make it risky making it back. In the 14 years I have had the boat, I haven't had anything happen to the prop but at the same time if I had to remove the prop in the water it would be very difficult. Dworshak was one area where it would be easy to be stranded unless you have someone with you as there won't be any people or boats around to help.

I'm with SandM and really only carry a knife, flashlight, and an allen rachet tool with several sizes and different screwdriver tips. Mainly use it to snug up the tower bolts and put on/off my rev10's. I keep a full tool set and exhaustive list of extra parts, impellers, duct tape, ect....on the tow rig or at the camp site for any work that might need to be done.

Yup I have all of that stuff. It can either sit in the garage or sit on the boat so I just leave it on the boat with other tools in it. I need one of those thin tool sets like in the picture. Spray it with some WD-40 and let it go.

I snagged a small toolbox from harbor freight and loaded it up!
I've got a stainless harbor freight multi tool (unfortunately they don't carry this any more), metric and standard sockets and wrenches, tie wraps, multi-tip screw driver, a couple of cutting devices (knife, box cutter), electrical tape, spare fuses, heat shrink, self adhering tape, lighter, multi-meter (small one), prop wrench. I'm going to be picking up a first aid kit as well, haven't needed it yet, but I'd like to be prepared.

You might want to spray those down with some kind of rust inhibitor and wipe them down afterwards. I used to use Boeshield T-9 with great results in my saltwater Seadoos 20 years ago.

Excellent list. I also carry butt-end splices and some insulated wire just in case I need to do a wire repair or bypass a defective switch.
