View Full Version : AutoFlow 2.0 Upgrade!!!

BrettLee3232

Has anyone updated from Gen 1 to Gen 2 yet? If so have you noticed a big difference? I just ordered mine & they said it's a direct swap out so should be an easy install.

I'm not upgrading the trim tab (yet)....that will be later if I need to. The manufacture said it was for better planning. Which I plan on upgrading my prop so that shouldn't be an issue anymore I wouldn't think...thoughts?

If anyone has surged both Gen 1 & Gen 2 can you please chime in on differences (if any)?

I look forward to upgrade!!!!

I have been thinking of doing this myself. Did you order through the tab manufacter or skiers choice?

I called the manufacturer direct. It's so hard to get a dealer to do anything for you especially at cost. Obviously they want to make money (which is totally understandable) but this is an easy swap out so I ordered direct. I would contact your dealer first to see if they can order it for you.

More details please on ordering direct from the manufacturer. Who is the manufacturer and what is the contact info?
What is the price? What parts are included? Tabs and support arms?
Thanks.

Well installed the new blades today. All I can say is night & day difference. Wave had WAY more push and felt longer and cleaner. I'm a bigger guy @ 300lbs. When it was just my wife and daughter in the boat I could not go rope less. Today it was just me and a driver and I could instantly let go of the rope as if I had extra weight on surf side.

The new blade also fixed my goofy wave. Before it was completely washed out. Now it feels and looks great. Testing the goofy wave with me and a passenger on the boat (no rider) it was night and day better looking than before but still wasn't looking as good as I would hope.
Then I had my passenger move the ice chest and himself to the surf side and it cleaned up perfectly. I was really impressed.

Same goes for my regular wave as soon as I let my friend drive and I sat myself on the surf side it cleaned up perfectly. So I think I'm going to add a 250lb under sear bag to help when no one else is in the boat.

For the price I paid I couldn't be happier.'(until Flow 3.0 comes out) 😂

Nicely done. I am loving the results you're getting. How much total weight are you running?

Also, are you thinking about likewise upgrading to the new HUGE wakeplate?? I looked at a Craz last night and it's a crazy big wakeplate!

Thanks man, so far I'm running 3k...900s in rear 500 hard tank & 750 ibs. I want to add another 250lbs under port seat.

I was thinking of upgrading the wake plate but when I spoke with the manufacturer he said "the old style was made by a different manufacture so the new one won't fit the existing bracket".

You would have to do some glassing etc.

Not sure if it would be worth the money for that. Basically he said it helps with planning the boat. Doesn't do much for the shape of the wake.

The width is the same. I believe the hole pattern is the same. If not, 5200 would easily fill the old holes, and the bracket would cover them.

Well, in that case, I'd agree. I know that with 3k in my boat with the 340 engine and the right prop, that I don't complain about the time it takes to get on plane wakesurfing as long as we can hit it with a little assertiveness on the throttle. (i.e. a gentle pull will inherently take longer to plane)

I just called Midwest WaterSports to see what an upgrade would cost on a 2015 Moomba Mondo going from Gen 1 to Gen 2 AutoFlow. They said it would cost $1500 for the surf plate and actuator upgrade. Is this what everyone else is seeing? It seems high to me, but everything seems to cost a lot after buying this boat.

Thanks....

I've heard from others that Wakeland MFG isn't great about returning calls or emails. It sounds like he already has their contact info, so can't say there's much we could offer beyond that. I suppose he could try going through a dealer, but not sure that would yield any more success than he's had thus far...

Trayson (thanks for replying) you are correct, wakeland is not the greatest in returning calls. I was hopeful that brentlee or others have another contact inside wakeland other then the provided number. I can't believe they would offer direct purchase without a shopping cart option. I haven't had such a difficult time trying to give a marine company money.

There was a discussion on this sometime over the summer. Matt Brown chimed in, there's a kit I believe you can get ahold of through your dealer. To the best of my knowledge I've not seen anyone with a 2.0 or 1.0 for that matter on any LSV.

I know my dealer sold a 2015 LSV with Autoflow 1.0 last year. I have yet to find out who it is or how he liked it. I also know that Wakeland sells the 2.o plates direct if you have an LSV with the 1.o system.

I would honestly look into the Wake Makers Wave Control, you can follow my thread for more details.

It also has the ability to switch sides in 3 sec, comes with a rider remote so the rider can control the switch.

I spoke with the Wakeland guys a couple times with questions before I pulled the trigger. I didn't have too hard of a time getting a hold of them with the number on their website. I only needed to call them direct because the nearest dealer is new to Moomba and couldn't answer my questions. Based on the timeliness of the dealer's quote I'm guessing they didn't have too tough of a time getting ahold of Wakeland, but I will say it took some time to get the call from my dealer that the kit was in for install.

Wakeland can't/won't sell direct to you, so the best course of action is to hit your dealer up and see what it will cost to have them install the system.

Wakelands system is what the factory uses for OEM, but it does not have the wireless remote for switches. Pretty sure it will be cheaper though, even after install.

I'm leaving tomorrow AM to take my Mojo to the dealer to have it installed. Will update with any good, bad or ugly once it's complete.

I ordered from Wakeland and it took about three weeks. Where I was really impressed with was the packaging. They really took the time and effort to ensure they would arrive in perfect shape.

If you (or anyone else) are interested I am selling the old ones for $100.00 plus the actual shipping costs. You could take them to a fabricator and have them weld to the bottom an aluminium plate that reduplicates the size and shape of the new Auto Flow 2.0 plates. It would be substantially cheaper than buying new surf tabs.

Try adding a set of Bennett Drop Fins to the older style wakeplate. I have a set on order to install with my autoflow 2.0 retrofit kit from Wakeland. The drop fins add more surface area and is equivalent to 1 size larger trim tab.

I am no expert by any means, nor do I own a setup with surf tabs, but the more I research and *think* I understand how the systems work I have to wonder if the drop tabs will hurt performance...

All the surf systems accomplish basically the same thing, create drag. This drag makes the boat crab sideways through the water and essentially makes one side of the boat longer than the other, thus making the wave converge on the short side. If you add a device at the transom that has vertical fins digging in, I would think it would counteract that crab motion.

All that said, it's just theory :)

That's exactly what Mastercraft did with their Gen2, and SC did with autoflow 2.0 tabs. The drop fins actually work by keeping more water channeled under the tab for a longer period of time, increasing their effectiveness. They also reduce spray from the tab.

So if I'm trying to duplicate the larger size of the new tabs, the drop fins will help me do this. In addition, if I can reduce turbulence of the water coming off the plate I will have a cleaner wave.

If it doesn't work, I can just unbolt it and I'm only out $28.

Got my updated plates, hoping to install next weekend!

For people who upgraded from Auto Flow 1.0 to 2.0, how do you hook up your transom straps? It looks like the new bigger plates will be in the way.On a 17 so I have the hooks on swim platform, but I used gates hydraulic hose sheath to cover the strap, pretty clean , seems to get the job done, no wear so far https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170826/61ce0ac9b86787166feef060df1e3c19.jpg

I don't. But I only tow maybe 1 mile round trip. I kind of wish I had them for when I tow to the dealer 3 hrs away though, but I don't (knock on wood)

My sales rep said I don't need them. They couldn't stop a 5000# boat from going wherever it wants.

It won't in an accident, but for mumps down the road I think it helps keeping it straight on the rungs.

They'll actually help considerably if you get rear ended. The goal is to keep the boat out of the passenger compartment of your vehicle. The rest is just an insurance claim so actually I don't strap it to protect my boat at all.

That's not true. At least not anymore. I just ordered the complete Autoflow 2.0 system direct from Wakeland MGF for my 08 LSV. Revived it right to my house in 3 days. They even said they'd walk me through the install over the phone if ran into any issues.

Absolutely. I haven't wanted to take it out of the water to do the install. This late in the season with soccer starting up, it'll probably end up being a winter project.

I pm'd you hoping to get more info on this?

Wakeland says they don't sell direct to customers, go to your dealer. I called Atlanta Marine and they said they have never installed one and don't know anything about it. I emailed Wakeland again, and they said that Atlanta Marine just installed one this fall. LOL, the blind leading the blind.

I’m pretty sure that wakeland makes the OEM Flow products on current Moomba’s.

I did the wakeland on my 2013 mojo. Works well, but it takes 3500lbs of ballast. Had to have the dealer install. Approx $3-$3.5k. I went with wakeland because it did not void my hull warranty. Mmandley did the wakemaker system with some good success. I would consider the wakemaker over the wakeland IF it had an infinite dial adjustment. My wakeland system only has 5 settings, of which I’m either using the 3 or 4 setting for the best wave.

I had planned to do the install. However, I ended up having my local shop do it. They did it for under $500. No modification to the swim deck or anything else. Direct fit. Wakeland’s System is model specific.

I know a different boat, on my 2007 SSV I had to put some spacers on top of the swim deck brackets. Probably 1/2" for the actuators not to hit. I have a pic floating around somewhere.

Call Travis Turley at Wakeland MFG. *(865) 599-5221‬, [email protected]. You buy them directly from Wakeland, they ship them to your door. Since you already have the brackets, the new plates will be super easy to install.

Just thought I’d update my experience with the Wakeland mfg gen2 surf tabs. To recap; 08 LSV, acme 2315 prop, 1100’s each rear, 500 locker, 600 IBS + 100 lead, 300 lead mid ship. I had great success with the Mission Delta, just hated having to switch it and remember the best location. In addition, it occasionally would pop off.

This is the first season with the Wakeland system and I couldn’t be happier! Regular side wave was super easy to dial in, goofy side was a bit more difficult but we eventually got it; Though not as clean as regular. The wave is slightly larger. However, I think this is due to being able to fill rear ballasts all the way. With the mission delta, I still had to list the boat slightly to the surf side. The wave is definitely cleaner and longer with considerably more push. Once I got each side dialed in I programmed the settings into the Wakeland module. It switches sides super fast and effortlessly.

I’m quite impressed. It’s obviously not a cheap endeavor. However, a dealer friend of mine said I would make back every penny when I eventually sell or trade in the boat (we’ll see about that).

Hope that helps.

Here’s a picture of my 12 year old just getting up. Ballast was set about 50% to tame the beast a little for him.

Jeepers - when did you purchase your system?

I know they made some changes to the size of the tabs and the actuators over the years.

At the end of last season. They are the larger Gen2 tabs and actuators. They actually included the small gen1 tabs at no additional cost.

Saw this for sale on Great Lakes Skipper! All you’d need to buy is the lenco actuators and the lectrotab controller which is who builds the controller for wakeland mfg.

Picked up boat today. Rushed to get the new 2.0 surf tabs installed. Cant wait to see the effect on the wave. Thanks to Travis Turley at wakeland mfg for the prompt service and delivery. Tabs arrived within 3 days of payment. The new tabs make the 1.0 tabs look minuscule. Now, can't wait for the Minnesota warmup this weekend. Its supposed to reach a sweltering 65 degrees on Saturday. My daughter surfed last weekend on 54 deg water temp. We do have wet suits.
