2008 Moomba Outback & Medallion unit?

I am having an issue with my speedometer and hour gauge (neither work). I have read about this medallion unit and to wire around it etc. Judging from the way my gauges act I think this might be the culprit. The other gauges seem to still hold value after the boat has been off for days.

Though I have read about this unit and seen wiring work arounds. I have not seen a picture of the actual unit and or its location. Anyone have a pic or personal knowledge? Is it even on a 2008? All I have read is pertaining to earlier year boats.

I spoke with Roger @ Skier's Choice. He confirmed that my boat does not have the Medallion unit. Beede is the brand.

He told me to check the purple and black wires at the gauge.

I would also check and tighten the wires to the battery and the ground on the block.

Max, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I have tried the easiest cures. No luck yet.
