Well I have a lathe and a mill.
I want the light on top of the tower so I spun this on the lathe. Then threw it on the mill. Spent way too much time tinkering. Then changed it again.

I cut a recess for the spool. Then I cut a centering bore for the towers stub.

It has changed a bit tonight. Will take pics tomorrow. Damn little drill bit broke when I was drilling my tower. Everything was fine, 1 bolt (5mm) was bottoming out just a little too early. I snapped the bit in there. Not likely to get it out. Maybe I will try but in the mean time I just went from a 2 bolt to a 3 bolt pattern ;-)

Once you get a good working model I'd bet you could sell a few of those...

Showing the revised bolt pattern since the broken bit in the tower stub changed my plan!
Disregard the chatter, patience wore thin. Plus it is not showing. It wont happen again.

Wow, you put a lot of work into it, make sure and post up when you get it mounted!

Actually I cut it down today. It was too big and bulky. I also pulled the broken 1/8" drill bit and tapped the hole. Now I don't need the 2 extra holes I made. I just can't sleep when things go wrong! 23160

Don't even ask how much time a person can spend tinkering. You ought to see the Miata brakes on my golf cart :-0

Unfortunately the pics are all at the bottom of the lake! Always remember to take your phone out of your top pocket when you are working on a boat or dock. Here is a link to the brake build though.
