08 moomba mobius lsv. So my buddy didn't put tension on my winch strap when winching the boat to the trailer so the strap got wound up in the winches teeth and that ended up breaking the strap. I'm looking at new ones online and see them having different load ratings and breaking strengths. My boat weighs about 3400 lbs.
Anyone got any ideas on what I should get??

mine is rated at either 1400 or 1600.

You don't need the yellow "heavy duty" one, just the standard black one. For example: Overton's (http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Winch-Strap-2-x-25&i=201166) @ 1500lbs

Your winch should also have a load rating stamped into it. Just get what matches the winch.

Just do yourself a favor and get a new Fulton winch and replace the whole thing. I just did that and the new one is "like butter"! so much better than the original one.

The best thing I did this yr was buy Fulton F2 two-speed 3,200 lbs trailer winch. Super easy to get boat on trailer. Just make sure you use 3 bolts to secure winch. You will have to buy new longer bolts and drill 2 new holes. Well worth the $130 on Amazon.

I cany afford a new winch now. I went to my storage unit sunday morning to install the new strap which is 20 feet long. The old strap, once taken out, is probably 10-12 feet.. I didn't install the new one because I figured it was too long for the winch..does anybody know if the 20 feet strap can be used or should I find a shorter one?

Thanks

I have the 20' strap on my winch. Fits no problem.

OK I'll try it out. I assume we have the same sized winch and trailer since we both have 08 lsv's. Wish I just tried it yesterday so I could've gotten some surfs in.

20' should fit when rolled-up.
If you do not drive your boat on the trailer, you will probably on use 10-15'
If you drive your boat on the trailer, you unroll less.

I have a 2007, my strap broke last year, so I could have used an extra 5-10'.

Get however much length you need to pull your boat on the trailer when it is not running-- just in case.

Does anyone else have just a thick metal pin going through the strap instead of the drum bolt to hold it to the winch? I haven't seen anything else like that on the net and I was wondering if that's something the previous owner did to keep the bolt from bending.
