Only one of the objects in this picture is made of real whiskey barrel staves; but both are awesome examples of 'Murica at it's finest. Can't wait to ride the new board in the morning. Brock and the Doomswell peeps were super helpful the entire time, and the whole process was enjoyable.

I am surprised how light and high quality the board is compared to my current ride. Nothing against my first board, but it was on the low end (I'll admit I bought it just because it matched my boat) and I just didn't expect to see such a huge difference.

Thanks to the Moomba forum community for making me aware of such an awesome board... now I just have to figure out how to be a real surfer :)

Both look great!

Where can I buy the one on top?

The Heritage Flag Company. It's made of whiskey barrel staves and hand carved in good ol U S of A. Definitely my favorite piece of art. Here's another gratuitous pic of the board too. Definitely a totally different ride. I'm still getting used to how buoyant it is and gaining my confidence to carve hard. But I love it.

What were you surfing before the Doomswell? Curious about differences in feel besides buoyancy.

I had a Ronix Koal Fish. I kept sinking the tip every time I carved hard and wasn't sure if it was me or the board. After riding my Nub Step (answer to jmvotto) I was able to show fins for the first time and really launch off the wave. Huge improvement to my riding out of the gate. I won't say if I actually landed said air, but I've got a new challenge going into '16.

I did the same. Ronix Koal Illuminati (fish) to a Doomswell Nubstep and couldn't be happier. Yours looks awesome.
