Do most of you keep your boats for a while or do you trade in and get a new one every couple of years. Im planning on keeping mine for a while.

I had a 1979 Glastron Carlson I/O before my latest Mobius and I had that boat for 10 years until I got tired of being dragged in the water. I could either rebuild the engine, lose weight or buy a direct drive. I went the easiest route and I'm glad I did. My head makes a lousy plow. Our season is too short to justify a new boat each year unless one wants to make a fashion statement. I thought I made the fashion statement when I bought swimming trunks down to my knees. In the old days they were called cut-off shorts.

These boats hold their value pretty well. I have had our boat going on 6 years now and have no plans to retire it, bbut we don't put nearly the number of hours I would like to on it. I have on plan to trade as yet...

I have an 04 Outback DD and as long as I still ski the course I will continue to have the Outback DD. I am not trading until major changes occur. Nothing wrong with mine and nothing major changed lately with the '05 / '06 Love my boat but I am not going to take on another boat just to have a new one.

Zabooda,

Aside from my Mobius, the Carlson is one of my favorite boats of all time. I never owned one, but a friend of mine did. He had a CV-23 with a Berkeley Jet. An absolutely beautiful boat, even by 2006 standards. Get this - his dad bought it for him NEW for his 16th birthday. Here's a link to the brochure if anyone wants to see it: http://www.classicglastron.com/79gl-carlson-cv23.html

It wasn't long before he drove in really shallow water and sucked a kid's tennis shoe into the intake. Fried the engine. It was fun while it lasted, though.

As for me, I'll keep my boat for awhile (05 LSV). We did the wakeboard clinic with Dave Briscoe last Spring. He drives a loaded Supra Gravity 24 SSV. When I'm ready for a new boat, I'm pretty sure something like that is what I'll get. Sweet boat! Few years down the road though.

really - I'm good with banning power. Give me the power. Heck set it up for a two vote min. The filters here are failing badly.

I agree, I second the vote to give one of our senior members the power to remove inappropriate content from our board. This is becoming ridiculous.
