A very sad moment for the world of slalom. I had a chance to meet and ski with Andy in 2010 and worked the rope for him as he skied into 41 off. An amazing skier and general great person.

Wow. Just way too young. A true gentleman and a great watersports ambassador. He will be missed.

Service Details from
Mike Mapple
I want to start by thanking everyone from the bottom of my heart. These past few days have been very tough. I have learned how much my dad has touched peoples life. I wanted to let everyone know that my dads Celebration of his life will be held Saturday the 12th at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Orlando. We know that this is Surf Expo weekend but this is a good chance for everyone to be in town. Following this service will be a gathering to celebrate the life of my dad at the lake, which was his vision and his baby. The lake is just up the road ( 2551 West Sandlake Road Orlando, Fl 32809 ) One thing i would like to stress is that my dad was such a casual guy and I plan on attending as he knew me. Meaning I will be in Gym shorts and a T-shirt, we have no expectations of what people should wear, If you feel you need to dress up that is ok as well. For those of you who know me well, I more than likely will not have shoes on either. I encourage anyone who wants to attend to come to both, or if you can only make one that is ok as well. I hope to see everyone there, and have some good stories about Dad's life.
if anyone would like to share this to get the word out i would be grateful.

Got to meet him in Calgary, AB in 2009 when the World's were held at Predator Bay. He was there representing Nautiques as that was the last year they pulled any tournaments with the 196. In 2010 they went to the 200.
I was in awe as he was a hero to me like many other slalom skiers who knew who good he really was? The amazing thing about the man was how humble and approachable he was. Same can be said about just about every pro in our sport as well but Andy set the bar high. He will be greatly missed.
