The distance from my storage unit to our launch is about two miles, 55 mph... We use the bimini every time, and I always fold it up and put the bimini cover on when towing. The other night, I forgot about it and got back to storage with it open. No damage, and now I'm wondering if I can just leave it open for that short drive, or if that's asking for trouble.

Does anyone tow a very short distance at 55mph with their Oz bimini open? Or does anyone have a better way of securing it for trailering without putting the full cover on? I just find it hard to put the zipper cover on, but maybe that's just me.

When I do drive mine to the lake, its about 5 miles of 30-50 MPH and I have done the same usually. but then I thought about it and decided that since I go 45ish on the water with the top out, what's the difference? so since then I have left it open, and never had a problem yet. I wouldn't go freeway speed, but 45-50 shouldn't be too bad.

I was thinking the same thing. 55 is a littler higher thand I'd be comfortable with...especially if it happens to be windy out.

I have towed with mine a couple times from the lake home at 55. About 20 miles. I desided to not continue with that due to I saw some of the seams where the velcro attaches loosening up.

i'm 7 miles from the ramp and I close mine in cover it each time. I have a different bimini though.

2 miles? I'd never fold that thing in!

Take the backroads to your storage unit, so you are going 35 to 40 MPH.

I mean, if it's literally 2 miles, then at 60 it'll take you 2 minutes and at 30mph it'll take you 4 minutes. Even if backroads take you 5 to 7 minutes, you probably can't fold/unfold the bimini in the extra time it takes to slow down the drive. Is that an option? to take a non-freeway road?

I guess that 85 mph is out of the question ???

Nope. It's a bridge over the lake between my storage and house/launch. I'll probably give it a try for a while going 45-50 and monitor.

If you have the chance, have somebody follow you while you're towing and take a look at the Bimini at speed. See how much stress it is under.

I've seen a few on the highway that were fine. Others we were taking bets on when it would fly free.

My Bimini has a warning of speeds not to exceed 45mph

Guy who made mine said he'd guarantee for top speed of the boat - not the truck...
