Hello,
I have a 2005 Supra 21V. The prop that is on there has been repaired from some dings from the previous owner, but he also gave me a new prop. I think it is another stock one.

I am planning on changing props to use the new one. I can't find consistent info on torqueing the prop nut. I have seen everything from "just get it snug, don't need to torque it" to 30-35 lbs up to 50 lbs.

Is there a definitive answer to this?

Thanks,
Steve.

It is a tapered shaft, it is important to make sure the key is properly seated in the shaft. I have just snugged mine up, tighten on up to line up a cotter pin hole, and roll with it.

Specs say 30-35 lbs, but more important is lapping the prop to the shaft. There is a great article on this in the how to section

Hope that helps!

I just upgraded my prop, the tapered shaft is the key, just make sure the bolt is on there enough. WakeMakers has a great how to video for replacing your prop that I followed. Would have had it done in 10 minutes if I didn't break the cotter pin just at the base and had to go to the hardware store to buy a new one and fight to get the damn pin through the hole. After that it was easy peasy.

Nettles suggest 30 lbs no more.

I wouldn't reuse the cotter pin. Always throw a new one on. Cheap insurance for keeping $500 off the bottom of the lake.
