I have a 2004 launch 22ssv with metal ski tower. Over time this tower has become oxidized and looking a little dull. Does anyone know a good method to cleaning these towers. I tried never dull and it didn't work to well just rubbing by hand.

I'm sure you could go through the process of polishing it and then applying a product like sharkhide to maintain. There are many metal polish products out there that work.

Also, you could remove the tower and have it powder coated and be done with the issue. Obviously, in the winter.

Metal masters is my choice. Works fast by hand and follow it up with their sealer.

I've used WD-40 to wipe down the tower. Cleans up nicely, just be sure to wipe off excess. I do when I winterize the boat and put the boat in storage.

I second using WD-40 for the wipe down. My tower is not oxidized so not sure how much it would help with that? You may have to polish or use some type of abrasive.

I take meguiar's (https://www.google.com/search?q=meguiars+mag+and+aluminum&rlz=1C1TGIB_enUS558US596&espv=2&biw=1680&bih=949&tbm=isch&imgil=MBjV5j6bgORagM%253A%253BI2Lluonv7cej8M%253Bh ttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.autogeek.net%25252Fmeg uiars-hot-rims-polish.html&source=iu&pf=m&fir=MBjV5j6bgORagM%253A%252CI2Lluonv7cej8M%252C_&usg=__q3wbGMBntuQtF96KyzNipmfP1vA%3D&ved=0CEUQyjdqFQoTCMWih6-Xn8cCFQFaPgodFQwKTw&ei=efLIVYWCLIG0-QGVmKj4BA#imgrc=MBjV5j6bgORagM%3A&usg=__q3wbGMBntuQtF96KyzNipmfP1vA%3D) mag and polish (pink and smells like Big Red gum). I put some on the tower, then take an old t-shirt type cloth, wrap it around the section in an X and pull back and forth like an old firestarter on a stick method. Quickly takes away bug guts and shines nice.
