My buddy was unhooking the trailer from the truck the other day and gave me the green light to go ... but he missed the emergency trailer brake cable. I went ahead and it yanked it but I was able to stop before it pulled right out. Everything looked good so yesterday took it to the lake and after a few miles I could smell burning brake pads. It seems like the cable is pulled out enough to engage the brakes just a little ...

It is the standard dual axle Boatmate trailer.

Anyone experienced this before? And anything that I can do? Would rather not take it to the dealer and get charged an arm and a leg.

Thanks!

should be a tab underneath the tongue that you push back up to release the brakes.
