Thru hull or Transom Transducer

Im about to buy a depth finder for my outback, which one does a better job, the Thru hull or Transom? Thanks for the input!

Most people opt for the thru hull installation because it is sufficient for their needs. There isn't much loss of signal, less chance of damage and one less hull penetration.

Isn't the thru hull the one I would still the big hole for though?
