Good Morning all- I've been a lurker for a while and finally decided to post up for some input on new boat pricing.
I'm in the market for a boat. Local dealer has a few 15 Mondo's and a 14 Mobius LSV. The Mondo's are pretty basic- Surf Edition with Manual Flow, Bimini, 4 in boat speakers, swivel board racks, no tower speakers or amps, single battery. The LSV is stripped down. The only options are swivel board racks, pop up cleats and bimini but no surf system.
The dealer threw out a price of $53k OTD on the Mobius LSV without negotiation. I believe the MSRP was like $62k. Being an almost 2 year old boat and being as basic as it is, I think I should be able to get a better deal. Can anyone share what they've paid for a similar boat?
Price for the Mondo I'm interested in is like $64k OTD. Again- being close to the end of the year and with the 16's offering the AutoFlow 2 system I think I should be able to get a better deal. I know the dealer needs to make his margins, but I also want to get the best deal possible.
I would really like the autoflow system, but I don't think its a deal breaker.
I am also shopping Axis and NXT but really like the Moomba's a bit better.
I guess the whole point of this rambling post is this: Would the discounts above be enough to get you to buy a '14 or '15 or should I wait for the boat show incentives and order a '16 just the way I want it?

If a brand new loaded out Craz is 68k (flow 2.0, s bend, z5, tower speakers, etc) ... a basic Mondo for 64k is far from a good deal.
If you are buying new, I would have a hard time considering a manual flow boat without a decent size discount.

I agree with KG Supra, I would wait till the boat show and get what I wanted

So I'm brand new to posting here. But here's my 2 cents... I was also in the market for a new boat and actually just bought a brand new 2016 Mojo. I picked every option and it's currently being built... I did have an 2008 LSV (which I loved). So I've done a bunch of research but by no means am an expert! I think 64K for a 2015 mondo is WAY high with those options. Go to the moomba website and price a 2016 boat with the exact options you want. Now you have a starting point with exactly what you want vs settling. Also know that every dealer will tack on shipping and dealer prep. This is NOT standard to say the least! I've seen as high as 6000 dollars and as low as 1900!! When talking, throw out you're looking at Axis, and you should just to compare!! In the end, just make sure it's a price you can afford and you'll be happy with!!

The best months to buy a boat are November and December.
You can squeeze the piss out of private party sellers and dealers if you're not picky.
If you are really picky that is going to box you in.
With that being said there are deals anytime of year, you just have to find them.
Find all the boats you like and than start making low offers on them. The only possible answers are "no, counter at nn, yes, or eff you".
Some people on onlyinboards list boats in the low 60's and an offer coming in a 50K is not out of the question.
The MSRP on the really nice MOOMBAs are very similar to what the left over/demo Supras are selling for in December.
Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I agree with telling the dealer that you're looking at axis. This little tidbit got me a wetsounds 10" sub and amp installed for free, and an extra $4k price drop (though I later found out that may have occurred because SC dropped my dealer and they were clearing out the inventory). But it never hurts to discuss the competition. See what your dealer has to say about axis, and don't forget to consider locality as far as repairs go, and warranty claims. (I hear axis/malibu has been having a lot of warranty claim issues lately, customer service wise)

if it was my coin, I'd work to order a craz this winter.

Thanks for the input guys. The dealer is down to $63000 Out to door(tax, title, freight, and prep included) with two Wetsounds Rev8 Tower speakers, two amps and dual batteries installed. Now, as far as I'm concerned, the only thing this boat is missing is the Autoflow system.

unless you are dead set on buying brand new take a look at the used market. you can easily find used 14's and even 15's pretty loaded up. onlyinboards.com and iboats.com are great places to look.

spend the few extra $$ if you have the room for the craz. mondo is a great boat, but if you plan on getting into surfing, the slightly longer hull and surf system are the way to go.

No big updates. I am demoing a 2015 Mondo today with Autoflow this afternoon. A different, semi-local dealership has a loaded demo with 9 hours that was offered at $59,000. I'd rather buy from the local dealership but after speaking with him a few times it seems like he can't get near that price on a boat with autoflow. Lucky for me, I am not in a hurry. Time will tell.

Agreed based on my research that price is high. I nearly pulled a trigger on a Mondo about 6 months ago, but it wasn't until AFTER I pulled the trigger on another brand boat that the Moomba rep called to say he could get me where I wanted to be price wise. I agree it sure 'seems' they can't get where you want to be price wise, but in my experience it's not true, they are just more resistant to get there easily. Again, I probably would have a Mondo in my garage if they got their butt it gear sooner, but now that the Craz is out I'm glad I don't as I feel it'd be a hard sell. Meanwhile the 22ft boat I bought new a few months ago I feel will be an easy sell and that way if I want to get into a Craz this fall I shouldn't do too bad.
Hold out!!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I have been shopping used boats too and found a deal on something other than a Moomba that I may not be able to pass up. I'll keep you posted.

Just wanted to update this thread. I pulled the trigger on another brand's 23 footer. I got to the price I needed and got more options than I thought possible. I really liked the Mondo but my local dealer just couldn't get to where I needed to be.

Possibly a Sanger or Ski Supreme on close out. Find them all day in Cali trying to give them away. Great boats, but not Moomba quality and reliability.

I did not know that, didn't hit the boat show the last few years.
Not a fan of the Axis lines. Looked on onlyinboards. 2015s were priced 60s - 70s. The 2014 were high-50s to 60s.

I wasn't sure I was allow to specify, I know that is frowned upon on some of the other brand specific forums. I went MB. Picked up a new leftover 2014 B52v23.
Congrats on the new boat! I was just the opposite and switched to Skiers Choice from MB. You will enjoy your summer for sure and the Wake is awesome. Throw up some pics, pretty sure nobody will mind.

Congrats, I seriously looked at MB when I was replacing my Moomba. The deal I got on the Supra made me feel as if I was getting more for my $$$. I Will consider MB again.

Congrats on the new boat! I picked up a 2016 Moomba Mojo at a boat show in January because I thought it was a crazy good deal. Was loaded out with everything except a heater for $66k plus tax. I love it so far but now I need a new prop after hitting a log that was underwater yesterday that I didnt see. Anyone know any good websites with discount codes to order a new one? I plan on sending mine off for repair so I can have a spare.

wakemakers is good. No discount code for props though. You can also go through Moomba dealer and get refurbished. It may not be as true because most refurbished are not as perfect as new.

Nettles is where I got my new prop. They gave $50 off first repair.

I also bought a prop from wakemakers. The prop repair shop near my house charges a flat rate of $200 for an inboard prop and they come out like new.
Even if you have to mail it to them and pay for them to mail it back it would still be about $250 considering a new prop is $500+.
I would recommend getting a spare and getting the busted one fixed. The place I take it to is "propeller dynamics" in Chester Virginia.
