I am installing the heatercraft heater on my 2008 XLV with the 340 engine.

I am using the Heatercraft low RPM WYE adapter and doing it per their instructions by tapping into the fresh water intake just before the impeller pump. (excuse my hack job on the intake hose, that hose with the metal going through it isn't the easiest stuff to cut)

I tapped a fitting into a spot where there was an NPT plug.

Water came out when I removed the plug. And it's right near the engine water pump, so it seemed like a logical spot. However, I ran the engine on the hose (flush pro) until it was up to temp and there was nothing on the heatercraft hoses. The other hoses were plenty warm. I'm not sure what's up and what is wrong.

I was kinda happy that I didn't have any leaks. But pretty unhappy that water doesn't seem to be circulating. :-(

I can't remember ever getting any heat while running it on the trailer. It definitely will flow once you get the engine running.

I think you're right. I revved it up a little and actually felt some heat on one of the hoses AT the heater. so i'm getting heat and circulation at least. I'll go over the other hose and make sure that it's not kinked. I think that's all I can do until I get it in the water.

Now if I could get my damn drill to finish the holes without getting smoked.... the 4" holesaw is not having fun on the fiberglass seat bases.

Mine had no issues with all three holes in the old boat, the seat base must be thicker.

Boat really has to be up to temp to open the heater, I passed on the wye cuz of the access issue, just made sure I was moving to get heat.

factory setups have the supply line coming off the block and the return line going to the circulating pump. This will give you the hottest water for heating as it is not mixed with incoming cool water in the circulating pump from the j tube.
