The Malibu dealer had a prop and installed for me on Saturday that saved the weekend after my 4 blade 14.25x14.5 decided it wanted to be a 3 blade, but I just can't get pat how far the key seems out of the keyway on this;

Am I crazy, or should I pull the prop and reinstall?

Looks like its rubbing on the cutlass. I'd take it off and see if it could be cut down or slide into the prop a little more.

When I took off my prop because there was play between the prop and the shaft, I found that my old key was worn. The new key fit snug and awesome. that said, the previous key was probably 3+ inches long and the new key I got in a kit from wakemakers was maybe 1.5 to 2". so I was surprised how short the new key was, but it seems to work fine.

Do you have a prop puller? If it was me I'd pull the prop and just take a cutoff wheel and cut down the key. Or at a minimum take off the prop and see if the key can slide down into the prop more... I agree, it doesn't look quite right.

Here is a pic of my old "longer" key and it's still totally covered by the prop.

It's not rubbing, but close - like a sheet of paper thickness clearance. I don't have a prop puller, but I'll have the marina pull it for me and see what they think.
