I recently bought a new headunit to put in my boat which will require a cutout in my glove compartment storage area. I don't have many tools to do this. Can anybody recommend something that would be cheap and easy?

Tape off the opening to be cut. Drill a starter hole. Use a jig saw nice and slow with a fine tooth metal blade. Be prepared for some dust!

a dremel or harbor freight die grinder with cut off tool would do the trick. As Berg indicated make sure to tape off the opening for a guide and protect the surface to be cut.

Might want to run the shop vac while you cut. Less mess and you don't want to inhale any of the dust.

I purchased an older version of this oscillating tool (http://www.lowes.com/pd_571000-54602-RK5121K___?productId=50169945&pl=1&Ntt=oscillating+tools) to remove excess glue from my race skis and it is awesome in fiberglass. very smooth cuts, and it doesn't splinter the glass or gel coat when you are using it. It also doesn't throw chips or dust everywhere, you should still use a vac, mask or breathing filter, and goggles at a minimum.

this will work so will the dremel option, b careful dremel likes to wander a bit.
