Looking to add a deep reading in-dash depth finder. I am not having much luck finding a thru hull that goes to at least 300ft. Its appears hummingbird stop making the hdr-650. I put a base model hummingbird in this spring that goes to 199ft but it drives me nuts to see the gauge blank out. Any suggestions?
You will not hit bottom at 250 feet.

I'm pretty sure my Faria reads past 199. I haven't been in anything that deep lately, but I'll let you know in a couple weeks as one of the lakes we go to has spots over 200.

My thought too. What dif does it make at that point?

lake Roosevelt is the columbia river that has been dammed up. You have a windy 275ft channel with shallow shelves at 30 ft or less. I dont like looking at my finder and wondering if it is malfunctioning or if i am in the channel. I would like to always see a number when i look at the gauge.

Even better would be forward-scanning capability. The joke about consumer-grade depth finders is that they are great for telling you that you just hit something.
