Fill the boat up with ballast to surf, take off, Bammmm!!! Now the question is, i thought at first just the prop, but more i look at it, looks like shaft mount is bent too, can someone tell is my day going to get worse or just fix the prop... dont remember if that mount was bent like that..

That's horrible. The mount that holds the shaft should not be bent like that. Sorry to see this. Were you monitoring the depth finder? I boat on a shallow lake myself, so I am pretty paranoid about this happening.

Definitely bent. Better check the shaft and everything up to the coupling while you're at it... :(

yeah sad thing is its same spot/area we have been before and never had issues, looks like i get to search the web on how to repair this, as we dont have crap for boat repair shops here

what do i need to look for on the shaft to determine bent or not.. hard to tell by the eye.. ive already found strut supports for 200$ online, im just going to send prop off to get rebuild plus i have a spare

It's tough to tell if it's not bent very badly. If you put the new strut on and spin the shaft and you see it moving up and down in the strut or turning in an oval instead of a circle out at the end, it's bent. You might not be able to tell until you put the new prop on and drive it. If you feel a vibration it should be obvious. The other option is to remove it and take it to a shop.

Be careful. I changed to a new shaft one time and put a "repaired" prop on and still had a vibration. I was ready to cry. Changed the prop to the spare and realized that they had messed up the repair of the first prop. Sent it back to have them get it right.

Your alignment is going to be off. If the shaft is bent the the amount the alignment is off will change as you rotate the shaft. If it stays the same then your shaft is not bent

To see if the shaft is bent, you would rotate it and use a dial indicator to measure if there's any movement on it at all.

They have a cheap one at Harbor Freight.

But if the strut is bent, that might make it hard to measure. Also, it's possible that your alignment of your shaft coupler is out now too. Doubt it, but possible. there's a handful of videos out there on how to align your prop shaft. I've only done it on a direct drive when I replaced my transmission, but the concept has to be the same.

Well broke down and claimed insurance on it, deductible is 250$ so I'm guessing I can't beat that, going to dealer few hours away to get quote n fixed probly, just hoping for a quick turnaround on the work as it is middle of summer

If you are turning in a claim, get a new prop and get the one you want. Keep your old one and get it repaired for a backup. Might want to remove the "destroyed" prop before you drop it off.
