Just got back from the lake and I think I may have an issue with my starboard locker ballast bag/pump. I currently have the stock 650 lb bags and today I opened up the lockers when I was filling them to get a look at things.

The port side filled up just fine in about 6.5 minutes and when I turned on the pump after 6.5 minutes I got water being pumped out the side of the boat, so all good I think.

The starboard side was about 3/4 full after 6.5 minutes so I kicked up the timer on it one minute at a time till I eventually got to 11 minutes. The bag filled up more but seemed to have a lot of air in it and I never got any water pumping out the side of the boat. I manually vented some of the air out of the bag but I never could seem to get the bag full of water.

NOTE: I have all stock ballast but I have added check valves.

Another question regarding the check valves, if I take it in to have the starboard pump looked at, does the check valve get me out of warranty? Do I need to remove it prior to taking it in for service? What about the larger bags(FlyHigh 1100) and IBS(Fly High 650), which I hope to install this weekend, does that get me out of warranty?

You sure you installed the starboard check valve correctly?

Ill check tomorrow. I guess I could have made a mistake but I thought I was careful.

The bags should not have any impact on the pumps

Try to trouble shoot before going to dealer.

I don't know how to embed videos, so here are some links to youtube. I pulled the pump connector off of both locker bags and recorded them pumping for a couple of seconds. The starboard side looks like it is not pumping correctly based on how the port side pumps.

So based on some investigation, I'm thinking that this might be an impeller issue. Unfortunately I was unaware how easy they are to get to until now and my boat is 50 minutes away so I won't be able to check it until Friday. I guess I'll buy a green one from WakeMakers and try on Friday.

So I replaced the impeller on my starboard pump and no go. Then I brought it to the shop and they replaced the starboard pump and no go. They are coming to me to check it on Wednesday. They said that the pump does not connect directly to the lake/river, it connects to a tank and the tank connects to the lake/river. They think it could be something there so we will see.

Problem solved. There was a hole in the line coming into the pump. The hole was very near the pump so we cut off a piece of the hose with the hole and reconnected it and everything was fine.

Great news! I despise the pesky little stuff that crops up from time to time.
