We have been surfing for a short time and haven't surfed with many boards so I don't have a lot to use a comparison.

We have an older hyperlite surf board(not sure which one) and a byerly buzz 4.8. The hyperlite was super unresponsive but easy to surf on if you stayed in the pocket.

The buzz was just OK. Much more responsive then the hyperlite but seemed slow and was pretty easy to fall out the back of the wake if you moved around much. Had to keep a lot of pressure on your front leg the whole time.

I am 6'1" and weigh about 185 (goofy). My son is 5'10" and weighs about 150 (regular). We have a 2014 Mojo with manual flow, 1100s and 750lb IBS and are still learning how to make the best wave.

I meet with Mark at Lakewakes and bought a Bean hybrid board from him. This was the first weekend out with the board and ran it all weekend with the skim fin setup. Both myself and my son loved this board compared to the others. Board was super responsive but still easy to ride. It was also very fast compared to the byerly buzz. This allowed both of us the recover from further back in the wave then either of us have been able to before. Both of us were able to move around on the wave pretty well and even got all the way around on some surface 360s but not able to keep surfing, Keep falling out the back of the wave. Board quality seems high and so far for us the performance is great. Mark was a super nice guy and I am very happy with the value of his product.

Hopefully we will be able to try some other boards in the future and have a better idea of what's out there. For now I think we have a board that we are happy with and can continue to improve our skills with.

I have attached a video of my son on this first run with the board. Anyone have any helpful comment/suggestions on our wake a
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNlJ2rRsvUnd surf techniques please bring them on. I should have taken some of just the wave but you can see it a little bit after he falls at the end. What is your favorite method to get back "in" the wave from the back.

Thanks
Foster

Looks like he's working pretty hard considering how small he is. I think you can get a lot more push out of your surf wave. Look for Drew's setup on here.
