I have been running a pair of s8l5 square kicker subs in my tundra for almost 7 years now and I was just curious if anyone has used them in a marine environment, I am not entirely sure what the actual differences between a traditional sub and a marine sub are but if my memory is correct the square kickers are already made of water resistant materials for the cone. I am not opposed to running a traditional round sub I just prefer the squares.

Any thoughts?

I have run the same pair of S10L7s in 2 boats for 8 years and absolutely love them.

It's not a marine subwoofer and I wouldn't run it in a ported box in a coastal situation. Beyond that, the exterior materials used (poly, butyl) are extremely rugged and fine for a long-term fresh-water project. You should have zero concerns.

Ok cool that is what I thought, I am very particular about boxes and more than likely will end up using a totally sealed fiberglass enclosure.

Thanks gents!

I have a friend running a pair of the kicker solobaric 12's and they absolutely POUND. I will go with them if I ever upgrade from my Infinity 10's.
