Is the physical gauge in the dash of an 04' Mobius LS an electronic gauge or a mechanical one? I know there is a port on the bottom of the boat for speed but I don't know how that functions in relation to the gauge in the dash.

Thanks,

Sean

I'm pretty sure it's electronic. If the port you speak of is a paddle wheel, then it's electronic. To my knowledge, the only mechanical speedometer for boats would be a pitot tube system which would have an air hose running to the speedometer.

That is what I thought, I just wanted to ask if anyone had experience with it before I messed with it. I need to find out how many pulses per mile or per mph. I have used this (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/41612/10002/-1?CAWELAID=1710606761&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=230006180000848930&cadevice=c&gclid=CjwKEAjw2cOsBRD3xNbRp5eQxzYSJADZGYbzU3-jKjUm2KNAL7iM1MjJkvZQ7fWZffXwVxGFaoQhexoCqEbw_wcB) Jegs speedo sending unit in the past with good results and I would like to install it on the moomba if the stock gauge meets the requirements for the pulses.

Thanks for the reply,

Sean

I think the paddle wheels are typically 20k or 22k pulses per nautical mile.

Excellent, I was just going to go out and check the speedo vs gps unit but that gives me a starting point.
