Hello, I have been lurking around the forum for awhile and got a lot of good information. Thanks. I bought a 14 Mondo and I am just getting the wave the way I want it. My question is about the ballast settings. If the bag does not empty all the way and time runs out can you turn off and then back on to continue to drain it? Will it run for the full amount of time in the settings? Thanks for any help!

Set your fill time to 1-3 mins longer than needed so the bags will drain completely. Also, think about adding some check valves

What drew said, but yes you can bump the empty and I think they run an extra 30 to 60 secs

How much stress does this put on the impeller of the pump, cause mine makes quite the racket when it starts pumping empty. Im waiting for my check valves now, and got the spring one to go between IBS and tank, but my truck (2005 colorado) is whining about the extra water weight when pulling.
And yes, hitting empty gives an extra 30 sec of run time, each time you hit it. What run times do you suggest for 1000 front and 750 rear (also 1100 rear as those come next week)

One minute per 100lbs.

Hey guys. great thread as I have the exact same issue (2014 Mondo has been in the water a few weeks so learning as I go). I was fiddling with the timers over the last few days. Yesterday, I was bow heavy with people when I was emptying the ballast and the pumps starting whining before time was up. No problem I thought, I will just add time and help the pumps by lifting the front of the bags to direct water to the back (new plan is to empty while under way with the bow up).
Make a long story short the bags are now empty but it thinks it still has a minute left.
its a repeat question but can is there a way to reset the ballast timers etc. IE. Get it to start from scratch without running for a minute dry? can't find anything in the manual about a reset.
The surfing is great but I do need the IBS which I have read a lot about on the forums. Pocket is a good size but short. Ordering this week from Wakemasters. I have 650lbs in the rear lockers and will see what the IBS does before ordering the 900lbs.
All that said having a blast!!

forgot to ask - you refer to a check valve which I think was the start of my problem with the starboard bag. Spec please or is this a wakemaster item as well?
I've tried to find a way, but I don't think you can just reset to 0%. Maybe someone else will know.
What I do when this happens is next time I fill the bag, if it hits 100% on the screen, but bag is only 90% full, just hit the fill switch again until the bag is full. May have to hit it a couple of times since it only runs for about a minute in this case. Then if your timers are correct when you empty it should get back to 0% at the right time.
The check valves are from wakemakers and they are a game changer.

Reset the ballast levels is an option on the computer. You just select the option, and select which tank and the desired position (port full, stbd empty, etc...)

fixed. I filled the it with a bag with a garden hose and pumped it out until it registered empty.
Low tech but it worked. I have some blue Styrofoam blocks at the cottage. I will experiment in making some wedges for the rear locker bags to make it easier to empty them.

Skip the art project. Order 2 check valves.

Agreed - art projects take too much time when I should be surfing. Now the stupid question - where do they go? I have been noodling the use of the check valves and I am confused as to where they go. I have searched the forums and not entirely clear on where they go. I will order when I order the IBS this week or early next.
as I said in a previous post new boat and in the water for a few weeks and learning as I go. thanks much for any input.

They go on your vent lines -- basically they let the water venting from your bags escape but they close when the bags are being emptied so that there is no build up of air in the bags as they empty causing them to "raisin" and allow for more thorough draining.
Make sense?

It does and thanks.

Do you guys know if check valves came as standard on a '14 LSV with the stock G III ballast system (650 lockers, 500 hard tank, no IBS)? From Wakemakers I just upgraded to 900's plus a 500lbs IBS. In looking at what came in the box, I see quick connectors but no check valves. But I'm wondering if I've already got check valves that came on the standard G III system.
We're headed up to the lake next weekend and install everything then, but I really want to make sure that I have the check valves to make sure that I fully drain everything. With 2,800 lbs of ballast and a family that likes to ski as well as surf, I want to be able to completely empty all the bags....
Any thoughts from you guys??

If your ballast bags don't look like a raisin when emptied you don't have check valve's
my 13 did not come with them

Ditto -- my '13 did not come with them either.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. Despite not being able to definitively confirm whether my 2014 LSV came with check valves as part of the G III system before I get up to the Lake on Thursday, based on your experience with your '13s I ended up buying 3 of them from Wakemakers. I figured better to have them in hand in the likely scenario that I DON'T have them already installed rather than wait and not have them until we head back up after that...
They arrive on Tuesday in time for our drive up on Thursday morning, so thanks for the help in sorting this out!

I am pretty sure none ever came installed from the factory so they will be needed, makes a huge difference.
Oh and don't put one on the front if you have a hard tank, bad things will happen......crushed soda can comes to mind.

Im doing it this way for the front. The blue one is a spring check valve that lets air in after the bag raisins to allow the hard tank to drain. Stole this pic from the forum, but don't know which one...22423

That should work, i never seem to have an issue with my ibs, seems to gravity drain pretty well into the hard tank, and my locker bags definitely raisin with the check valves, there will be some noise when they get low, just keep pumping and they will go pretty close to empty.

So I have check valves on order from Wakemakers and I hope that will help. Saturday night last weekend I moored the boat with full ballast as I was surfing in the morning and saw no point in emptying the ballast. Note the ballast was full. the 650lb rears were full (ie bags were solid). In the morning the bags had lost some water. Anyone experience loss over night. this then throws off the times when emptying the ballast it leaves time on the timer.
Easy fix but wondering if others see loss over a storage period?
thanks

Thanks for all the help. Have ballast times set right and ordered check valves. Install 750 IBS last week. Surf wave is really nice with a lot of push. My friend with an 05 Centurion is jealous.

FINALLY installed the check valves (last Wednesday). Thanks to wolfman and csm as they are a game changer!! Raisined up nice and empty.
Also installed a 750lb IBS. All I will say is wow!!
Now need to test some new boards. Problem is there is very little local selection to test up here in the great white north.
