View Full Version : Lowering the rad a cage tower

I have figured out a good solution to lowering the tower down onto your boat without damaging the finish of the boat.

At Walmart they have those oversized floating noodles that have a hole through the middle. You have to cut a piece to length, then cut about a one inch slot down the length to the existing hole. Then you can slip it onto the cage and lower away.

Before I would fumble with a cushion or vest to protect the boat.

This is working great. That part is working great. I still need to figure out how not to drop the cage bolts in the water when I lower it to go under a bridge.

You might get a couple of extra tower bolts and put a small screw in the knob end with some string or even some small gauge wire on it. Then lash that around the tower close to the location of the bolt holes. I don't have to lower mine for bridges, but it might work.
