Digital Cruise problem

I was at the lake last weekend and my digital cruise started acting up. When I started the boat the digital pro would beep like normal, but after a few minutes it would start beeping and the setup menu would come up. I tried pushing the on/off button to exit, sometimes it would work and other times it stayed on the setup menu. The up and down arrows always worked. It didn't happen every time, and even when it was acting strange it always held the set speed. Any ideas?
