Bought a 2000 moomba outback with 148 hours on it and first time in water ran perfect second time I drove a couple hundred yards and died. Then had to wait a bit because when turn key no dash would work so pushed reset button above ignition after a bit it would light up and start boat but run for another couple hundred yards and do same? Would I of ran to hard out of marina and never cooled down I didn't think it was to hot just over 160 F any ideas??

Where you located?

Vapor lock in fuel filter would occur in older models in hot temp.

Jm, you think it would occur in such a short period? The Op states a couple of hundred yards. In fact how do you get to 160 in a few hundred yards.

I'm located in Saskatchewan , canada

Would a vapour lock cause when turn key nothing to happen then after a a minute hit reset button above key and boat dash lights up and boat starts

No, vapor lock happens you have been running the boat and the engine is nice and hot. After you shut off the engine and let it sit for a while it won't start back up. Yours sounds more like electrical, something is tripping a breaker. Check all your wiring and see if something is loose somewhere.

Try the engine oil shut off valve by the distributer it can get stuck closed an it will shut the power off to the hole boat. its a old boat same as mine and they tend to go out after a while. it is a $4 part at oriley get a engine oil light switch for a 99 silverado with the ls1 block it its a two prong so you will splice the purple wire and orange togather and leave the red by its self plung into either side there is no direction

I had an issue with exact same symptoms on my 2005 Outback 310hp Carb about 5 years ago. Took it to the dealer and they replaced what I think they called a fuel pressure sending switch or module. I don't think it was an expensive fix and the mechanic knew right away that was the issue. I couldn't tell you how to do it or where exactly its located but I thought he told me it was on the back of the engine where the harness and 35 Amp fuse are located.
